Dealing with the Pain

King Nicholai's pov:
I ran to Allison's room and found the guard I had posted at her door already in her room looking for threats. He sighed as he turned to me. "I believe she is having a nightmare, my King." "Leave us." He bowed and left as I walked to Allison. She was sweating and thrashing in the bed. "Allison, my love wake up." I gently spoke to her moving her hair out of her eyes. She opened her beautiful eyes and looked at me with fear in her eyes. "It's alright my love, you were having a nightmare. You are safe now." She shook her head. "It felt so real, he was here and attacking me again. He said that he would not fail in killing me this time." "It wasn't real. You are safe and he is gone. He will not hurt you again. I am here to protect you." She still looked shaken up, so I climbed into the bed with her and held her. She eventually fell back to sleep with me carding my fingers through her hair and giving her gentle kisses on her head. Obviously, my brother was still terrorizing her, only now it was in her sleep. I didn't know how to protect her from this. Over time, she will learn to accept it and move on. But until then it was going to be a long road to recovery. She had now not only physical pain, but also emotional. All because of my brother. I was starting to get angry and she seemed to sense it in her sleep as she began to whine and move around a bit. I calmed myself down for her sake and continued to hold her.
We were disturbed by a knock on the door. I very gently let Allison go as I climbed out of the bed. I opened the door and a guard was standing there. "What?" I asked him. "Sir, we have searched for your brother and a source in town said he spotted him boarding a ship to France." I sighed and rubbed my forehead. "Thank you. I don't think he will be a threat to us if he is in France. We will be leaving for the castle in a couple days after the humans fully recover. Send a handful of guards to France and see if you can find him. Track him down and bring him to me." "Yes, your Majesty." He bowed and left. France? Why is my brother going to France? Oh well, that is a problem for another day. First , I have to help my mate recover from this whole ordeal. The physical pain will be gone in a few days, however her nightmares may take more time.
I sighed and climbed back into bed with my beloved mate. Her wounds were healing quite fast, it must be another effect of her being a half vampire. I still need to talk to both her mother and her former master and figure out how they produced a child. Allison was also looking forward to seeing her mother again. Perhaps that will help her get over this trauma. I felt her shift beside me and when I looked at her she was already looking at me. "How are you feeling my love?" I asked her as I stroked her cheek. "I am still sore, but I am feeling a little better." "Good, we will be leaving here in a few days to go back home. You should be able to travel then." She looked like she wanted to say something, as she was opening and closing her mouth a few times. "What is Allison?" "Um, well when we go back, will I be your pet again or what. What will be my new role?" I haven't thought about that yet. "Well, you and I will be mating when we get back to the castle. You will no longer be my pet. You will be my Queen and rule by my side." "What exactly do we do when we mate?" "Well, that is a process we will talk about another day. Your still recovering, but I promise you will know everything and I will be as gentle as I can be with you. Right now, you need to rest more." I was about to get up when I felt her grasp my arm, I looked at her and she seemed to be deep in thought. "Will you stay with me? I sleep better when your near me. I don't want to have another nightmare. Please." How could I deny her? "Of course, I will stay with you. Rest now." I watched as her eyes closed and she once again fell asleep.
The next day, Allison wanted to see Rachel. I thought about her request, but I knew I couldn't deny her anything. "I will have a guard bring Rachel here to see you, only if you eat first. I will also be in the room as well. I do not trust her yet." "Thank you, I really miss her. Although she was forced to kidnap me, she was also my friend and tried to protect me." "Of course my love." I kissed her on the cheek and called for a guard to bring Allison some food. I also needed to feed, so I called for a blood slave to be delivered to me. After we were done eating, I called the guard to bring Rachel to the room. The instant smile that came to my mate's face as she saw Rachel coming into the room should have made me jealous. But instead, it just made me happy to see her so happy. I stayed in the room for Rachel's visit and observed the two girls. There was a lot of hugging, crying and apologies. Human girls, I thought, with a smile on my face. The two girls sat and talked for about an hour, until I noticed Allison getting tired again. I stood up and approached the girls. "I think it's time for you to leave now Rachel. Allison needs her rest." "Of course, your Majesty." She hugged Allison and then left. "Thank you. I really missed her." I saw Allison had a bright smile on her face. "Anything for you, love. Now rest." She laid in bed and was asleep almost immediately.
After a couple more days, Allison was fully recovered and had her strength back. There was still no sign of Stefan. I knew he was in France, but I didn't know where. I was nervous that we hadn't found him yet, but at least I had my mate. I walked into Allison's room and saw that she was ready to go. "Come along love, it's time to go home." She looked at me with a blinding smile.
"Yes, let's go home."
