Nicholai's pov:
I hated lying to my beloved Allison, but I couldn't tell her the full truth. Yes, there were rogues killing innocent human slaves, but also their masters. Rogues were killing vampires and it was becoming quite serious. Usually rogues ran in groups of no more than three, but these rogues were grouping up in the hundreds. I needed to destroy them and try to figure out why they were killing humans and vampires.
I had already informed Samuel of the developments and he was gathering the best guards to come with me. Of course I needed to leave some here to protect the castle as well. I couldn't leave Allison defenseless. I was currently on my way to meet up with Samuel in my study to see if we were ready to leave, when I ran into Allison's mother, Sarah. "Oh, your majesty. Is everything okay?" She must have seen the worry on my face. "Yes, Sarah. Everything is fine. I am going to be gone for a few days, so please keep your daughter company while I am away." I said to her. "Of course. Please come back soon. I'm sure my daughter will miss you." I knew that Allison didn't want me to leave and I was going to miss her every second that I was away. "I will be back. No need to worry and I will be missing her just as much." I smiled at her and then left to my study.
As I walked into my study, Samuel was already there waiting on me. "Sir, I have seventy-five guards ready to leave with you. I must insist that I come with you as well, my King." Samuel said to me. I grabbed his shoulder as I spoke to him. "I need you here to protect the humans. You will be Allison's personal guard while I am away. I trust you to keep her safe for me." "Of course, your Majesty. I will protect the future Queen with my life." He said to me with his fist to his heart. I shook my head. "Hopefully there will be no need. I will destroy this group of rogues and be back in four days." I said to my most loyal servant. "We will be here waiting for your return. Be safe my King." Samuel said to me with a bow as he left my study. I sighed as I hoped all would go to plan and I would be back soon. I couldn't be apart from my mate for too long, if I was than this mission would go wrong, fast. I shook the thoughts away as I made my way to the front entrance where the guards were waiting for me. As soon as I saw the guards, they all bowed to me and we sped off at full vampire speed.
It took us a full day to get to the last known place that the rogues were in. Which means that I now had only three days to find the rogues, question them, defeat them and get back to Allison before I started to weaken. As I made my way into the mansion that the last victims were found in, I found a rogue. I quickly went up to him and had my guards detain him for questioning. I sent the other guards to search the place, inside and out for more rogues. I approached the rogue, once the guards had him detained with rope on a chair. "Who are you? Are you apart of the rogue group that has been killing humans and vampires?" All he did was turn his head away from me and scoff. "Answer me! I am the King!" I yelled at him. He still refused to answer me, so I sighed and summoned fire in my hand. "If you refuse to answer me, I will have to force it out of you." He finally looked at me and the ball of fire in my hand. He looked slightly afraid, but he immediately made his face hard. "Do your worst, King. I know that you will not kill me and even if you do you will never be able to kill us all. We are too many." He sneered at me. "Who is in charge of the rogues?" I asked, ignoring his sad attempt in intimidating me. "He is someone you will never destroy. He has his own powers and you will never defeat him." He started laughing at me. "Where is he? If he is so powerful, why doesn't he come out and face me?!" I said to him, raising my voice.
"Because, I am already here." I heard a voice behind me. I turned around quickly and was faced with a very old vampire. That much I could tell, by the power I felt coming off of him. How did he get passed my guards? How did I not sense him coming up behind me? "Who are you?" I asked the man. "My name is Joseph and I am the leader of the rogues." He said to me. "Why are you killing humans and vampires?" I asked him as I heard my guards start fighting the rogues, I assumed. "What is going on out there?" I questioned him as I made my way to the door of the mansion. The man Joseph whistled and lifted his hand and the rogues stopped fighting. He then turned to me. "I needed to get your attention somehow." He said to me. What? Why? "Why did you need to get my attention?" I asked him. "We don't like the way you are ruling and we are going to take the crown from you." He said to me. He is going to what? I started laughing at him, which he didn't seem to find the humor in what he said. "And how do you think you are going to do that? You can not win against me." I said smugly to him. I was sure that even though he was old, I was older and much more powerful.
He smirked at me and in an instant he raised his hand and the dirt raised from the ground to create cages for the guards and myself. I rolled my eyes at Joseph. "You do know that I have control over the elements as well, right? I can easily get myself out of this." As I said that, the ground shook and my cage disappeared back into the ground. Within the next minute, a few things happened in a blink of an eye. One, my cage disappeared. Two, I was handcuffed, behind my back and three, I was then taken with the rogues. To where? I had no idea and my guards couldn't help me, because they were still caged. All I could think about was that I needed to get home to Allison. I only had two days left to get home before I became weak.
We eventually stopped at a cave in the middle of nowhere. I looked around and found that there was nothing but trees for miles. I needed to escape, but the handcuffs were a special make and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't free myself. The leader, Joseph stepped in front of me at the mouth of the cave.
"Lock him up and keep him guarded."
