CHAPTER SEVEN THE PRISONER. ~CASSIE'S POV~ I had been locked in this room for three days. Three long, suffocating days. No sunlight beyond what the balcony allowed, and no company except the maid—Agnes. And even then, she barely spoke. She only answered when spoken to, and even then, her words were clipped and cautious. Like she didn't know whether I'd scream or shatter. Maybe she wasn't wrong. "Lunch," she announced flatly as she stepped in, carrying a tray. Her eyes scanned the room quickly and practiced, as if expecting chaos.
