Not spying
"What do you see in him? Honestly, he is not as perfect as you claim." Jenny told me right after my boyfriend left. We were sitting in our favourite café shop on campus when I noticed Tom. I thought he had class as every Thursday, but suddenly he was walking around with group of friends. I didn't really care. I never was or wanted to be controlling. I was busy with my school and he had also classes and also basketball practices.
"What do you mean? He didn't do nothing bad." My bestie never liked him. She was dreaming of different kind of love. of passionate and intimate conection. I was more than okay with this kind of relationship. We were there for each other when needed, but we let the other to have his space.
"How can you not care that you don't know where he is? He was surrounded by girls and you didn't even move a muscle."
"And what was I supposed to do? He can have friends, I don't mind."
"I'm not that sure they are just friends, May."
I had to roll my eyes. I believed Tom. There was never a reason why I shouldn't believe him.
"Look, Jen, we are good together. We don't have any problem, we are going on dates, our s*x life is more than alright. Why can't you accept that not every relationship has to be dramatic and not all partners need to communicate all day. I know everything I need to know, so does he and we were like this for more than a year." I took a sip from my coffee and wanted to continue, but Jen wasn't listening anyway as I noticed.
Her eyes were set on different target.
on the other side of room sat her current crush. Jared Taylor.
"You are one to talk. What can you possible see on him?"
I couldn't stand this man. He was studying the same mayor as was I, but he didn't bother with classes too much. Not like is, sitting with our notes on table even during free classes.
"Studying law isn't for everyone but he chosed it. But he is obviously more interested in biology, don't you think?" I asked Jen as Jared's hands continued to travel around his last victim's hips. Blonde girl in his hands probably completely forgot where they were, lost on his lips. He was devouring her lips as if they were alone. It was so rough it made me shiver.
"I wouldn't mind letting him study biology on me." Jenny brought me back to our table.
"You can't be serious. It's disgusting. The way he treats girls."
"You can't know that. You don't know him."
I looked back to his table, which was a big mistake. He noticed me right away and looked right at me. s**t. Now it looked like I was watching them. I quickly turned back.
"Would you really want to have your heart broken by that jerk?"
Jenna looked at me with eyes wide open. "We should change the topic."
"Of course. You can bad-mouth my boyfriend but I can't talk about..."
Jen quickly grabbed my hand. "Shut up, May!"
"Why should I..." I started as I was turning back to Jared's table, but Jared's eyes stopped me in my move. He was standing right behind me, resting his hand on my chair, bending so his eyes would be on level with my eyes.
"Hey Mary, could you stop with the looking? My girl is a little bit shy and you are making her nervous with your spying."
I was too stunned to speak.
Jenny was red as tomato, looking at him with shy smile of course.
"I wasn't..."
"If you are interested I can give you private show later."
He was so full of himself, so freaking confident it pissed me off even more. I grabbed my notes as fast as I could.
"That's the last freaking thing I would be interested in." I stooded up staring in his brown eyes.
He looked even more amused, but he lifted his hands in defense. "My bad. But you were the one looking."
Jenny was having so much fun right now. And of course she was undressing him with her eyes again. "I certainly was not. Even when I have to admit, it was not possible to not notice your behaviour. This is a public place. Maybe you should keep private things for private and don't act like horny teenager."
He didn't look so amused now, which made me smile.
"Okay, holy Mary."
"My name is May."
"Whatever. I wasn't doing anything wrong. This was not even a foreplay. Not that someone so inexperienced and predictable could know what I'm talking about." he turned around and left. So did I. I was fuming.
