“Oh come on slowpoke!!” the impatient child whined. Gemini was a rather active child, always running around and wanted to explore. Of course, she was being groomed in the ways royalty does, trying to make her a suitable leader. The slowpoke, Spike, was her best friend. He was one of the dragon folk, a kingdom not that far from her own. An hour’s flight or so, and thankfully, the two species did in fact have wings. The difference was that Gemini and her kind could change the way they looked, and could even hide them all together, whereas Spike could not unless he were to go into his semi-human look, something that still looked dragon like, but his mouth and body changed to look more...well, human. He’d still have the scales in most areas, but his hands, face, and feet would have them, being replaced with a light coated skin. His tail would still be visible, and so wouldn't his wings, but the clothes he wore usually covered most of the dragon look. Even his eyes, usually a goldish green color like his scales, would turn a lovely light brown, his pupil going to a human’s. Right now, he and his family were at Gemini’s kingdom to discuss business as usual, which is a cover up for the families to push these two closer together. They decided that, slowly, they’d get all the kingdom’s children to become friends so as to avoid war in the future. Not close enough, however, for them to find another lover material. You see, interbreeding was seen as disrespectful towards one’s culture and species. It was bad enough if a citizen did it, but if a royal were to? Disgraceful.
“I’m sorry, but would you rather me have an asthma attack, or for me to be fine when our parents choose to take me home?” the small dragon whined, his tailing somewhat wagging in a playful manner. Gemini had giggled, thinking of all punishments she would’ve received as a result. She never did want to hurt anyone, nor did she care for the punishments, but she did enjoy playing along with the act that she did. At the end of the day, it doesn’t bother her in the slightest. In fact, there’s always been that side of her that loved the problems that came along with being royal, or just being a friend to others. She’d never tell anyone, of course, because it would make her seem crazy and have her thrown in some other kingdom, banished for the rest of her days. And she really didn’t want another child having to deal with the hateful family chain that she was determined to break. She had thought for a moment, thinking of how she’d reply to the now concerned dragon, when she heard a familiar bell ring from the antenna like structure she had in her brain. A signal from her parents calling her back home, probably for Spike’s departure. She looked over at him and nodded her head, getting up and spreading her wings, preparing for flight.
“Race ya!!” The small dragon got on all fours, now even more in his dragon form, prepping his wings as well.
“You’re on.”
