A week went by and still no word from Mr. Gilbert about the divorce. Anna wired him inquiring about it. He sent word back that Mr. Samuels was in Newport doing his best to prod the decree along. He would let her know as soon as he heard. Alva had said that Rhode Island divorces usually take two weeks. She hoped that Will’s money scheming was not to blame.
Anna decided to take the bull by the horns and she and the boys moved back to Louisburg Square. Margaret was disappointed to have them go, but she understood. Amazingly, Simone and Colleen were extremely happy to be back together. Anna was bemused by this and grateful they weren’t arguing anymore.
