It was late, but I couldn’t sleep without Maverick nor did I want to. I sat outside on the deck, sipping Maverick’s whiskey, enjoying the perfect summer night. Maverick was still tied up with the council elder. I had no idea what was taking so long. He, Jace, and Lia took the guy out for a nice dinner hours ago.
