Chapter 6

2816 Words
Hayden pov I was still shocked by what my parents had told me last night. I couldn’t f*****g believe it actually. Why everyone thought it would be better to keep the real reason why Amelia had her wolf suppressed was beyond me. I couldn’t get Amelia out of my head. Every time I closed my eyes, I would see her face. Today was going to be a long day. ‘Hey, what time are we doing this thing?’ I sent the message to Milo. I was eager to see Amelia again and getting a workout wouldn’t be a bad thing. I grabbed my running shoes and headed out towards the woods with my headphones in and music blasting. A few she wolves waved as I jogged past giving me the come fück me eyes but I just ignore them and concentrate on the music in my ears and my feet hitting the ground. I love running through the forest at this time of year. All the leaves are changing colour from green to orange and red. Mind you, I love running through the forest at any time of the year. I find peace when I’m in the forest. I get back home and wipe my head on a towel. I really pushed myself today. I check my phone and sure enough, there’s a reply from Milo. ‘Amelia has the ring booked for us at 2’ Even seeing her name in a text message makes me happy and fills me with excitement. ‘I’ll see you soon. You want me to pick you up?’ I turn the shower on whilst I wait for his reply. ‘It’s ok thanks though man. I’m at the office and have my car.’ I hadn’t gone into the office today, but I had sorted through some emails before my run. Why have a team of people working for you if you can’t take some time off every now and then. ••• After showering and sorting out some pack business, I went to meet Milo at the address he had given me. It looked like a modern gym, people were going in and out. I was nervous about seeing Amelia. I hope I did actually get to see her. Milo walked in first laughing about something someone said at work. I took a deep breath to calm my nerves before I stepped through the door. As soon as I walked in, there she was. She was bending in some weird way, but fück, she looked sexy. The way her body was moving in different ways was doing something to me. I suddenly felt really hot. Then she looked up at me. Suddenly, the world stood still and all I could see was Amelia. Her beautiful eyes sparkled. She smiled at me and I felt like I was on cloud nine. “This way!” Milo grunted at me. I’m not sure what is up with him, but I think I’m about to find out. I got changed and made my way towards the boxing ring. I was an Alpha so I was naturally strong and I always pushed myself to work hard but Milo was just as tough as me. He pushed himself just as much because he felt like he had to so he could protect the people he loved. I lifted the rope up and ducked under. As soon as I was under the rope and stood in the ring, Milo hit me, sending me stumbling backwards. “What is going on with you and my sister?” He asked as he swung again. This time I was ready and ducked whilst I punched him in his ribs. He grunted but swung again. This time he double jabbed me in my ribs. “Don’t lie to me Hayden. I’ve seen the way you look at her, and I know you better than anyone else. If you’re just wanting to screw her and then dump her, think again.” This time, he hit me across my face. I felt my lip split. I spat the blood that was collecting in my mouth onto the floor. “I wouldn’t do that to her, Milo. I know I don’t have the best track record, but I would never do that to Amelia.” I said, whilst dropping my hands. “She is my baby sister, Hayden. I don’t want her to get hurt by my best friend. She’s special.” Milo dropped his hands as well as we spoke seriously for a moment. “I know I spoke to Mom and Dad.” He looked at me for a second. “Why would you talk to them about Amelia… She’s your mate?” His eyes went wide and his hand came up again. This time he hit me across my cheek. “Yes, she is Milo and you know I will do everything in my power to protect her. I only want what is best for her.” He dropped his hands again and took a deep breath. “If you hurt her.” “I know you will hunt me down and skin me alive.” “No, she will, but I won’t stop her. Be gentle with her Hayden. She doesn’t know anything of our world.” We finished off the boxing match after that and left the gym. I didn’t see Amelia again when I left, but her scent was everywhere. ••• Milo left me in the parking lot as I had to take a quick call in my car but we had arranged to meet at the new club later on tonight. I was talking to Joel about the bar Amelia works at when I spotted her walking through the parking lot. She looked on edge, jumpy. She stopped and looked behind her. I looked where she was looking and thought I saw someone. I got out of the car to go make sure she was safe. I quickly walked up behind her and was about to ask her if she was ok when she turned and punched me right in the face. “Owww fück!” She grabbed her hand in pain. I’m not surprised she has a very good right hook. If I was a normal human, that would have incapacitated me. “Are you ok? You look terrified. What’s up?” I asked her. I was worried someone was harassing her. She’s a beautiful woman. A very beautiful woman. I’m surprised she doesn’t have a line of men waiting for her. Mind you, if she did I would kill every last one of them for going near her. “What are you doing here?” She asked, raising one eyebrow at me and looking at me with suspicion. “I parked in here. I was on a call in my car when I saw you. What was it?” “I thought I heard someone behind me… when I looked, I swear I saw someone!” “Get in your car and lock the door!” I thought I saw someone as well, so I wanted to make sure she was safe before I ripped this fücker a new hole. “Hayden no!” she shouted from behind me. I knew she would be a stubborn one and not listen to me. I looked but couldn’t see anyone, but I caught a scent. It was unfamiliar, but familiar at the same time. “There’s no one here now. Would you like me to take you home?” “It’s ok. I’ll be fine. Thank you Hayden.” She smiled at me and my goddess. She was beautiful. “You got it right… my name.” She chuckled, and it sounded wonderful. Like music to my soul. I couldn’t help but smile back at her. Hearing her laughter was what I wanted to do for eternity. “At least let me walk you to your car.” “Ok, thank you.” She turned and started to walk towards her car. I followed close behind, enjoying the view and her smell. “I will see you then, Amelia.” I smiled once more and headed back to my own car. I sat waiting for her to leave. Whoever it was following her had only two ways out of here and I didn’t see them leave either way. She waved at me and drove off. I got back out of the car and did a quick look around the parking lot, but I couldn’t see a soul. The scent still lingered slightly so whoever it was had waited for me to be distracted by Amelia to make their exit. ••• “This is one of my favourite clubs.” Milo said as we made our way towards one of the bars. “I’m going to get a drink.” Preston walked off towards the spirts bar. “He’s in a mood because his mate wants him to get the snip. Says she isn’t spitting out any more pups.” Joey said from next to Milo. Milo looked out across the dance floor with a pained expression on his face. I followed his line of sight and was left paralysed. I couldn’t move, just look. Amelia was here. She was dancing with her friend Nina. I felt Milo tense up next to me. That’s strange. What was going on with him and Nina? I chose not to pry into Milo’s personal life. He will tell me when he is ready. Men were ogling the two as they moved to the music. The way Amelia moves her body is a sight to behold. She’s confident in her body and it shows. I’m feeling entranced by her and extremely jealous of all the looks she is getting from other men. Her eyes flash with mischief as she locks them onto me. It’s like she’s challenging me and it thrills me. ••• I’m currently fighting off a woman who is refusing to take no for an answer when Amelia walks over and sits at a booth with two men. I feel a rage I’ve never felt before. I’m about to storm over and remove the two boys, but Milo beats me to it. He sits down at the booth with them and the boys. I’m not calling them men. The boys look at Milo with a píssed off expression. Nina stands up and walks off and Amelia gets up, flashing her brother a look as she does. I sit down at the booth, looking at the boys next to me. “Hey, we don’t want any trouble. We thought they were single.” “Yeah, I’m sorry dude.” “Look, we are just gonna go.” They both slide out of the booth and headed towards the dance floor. Stupid humans. “Why didn’t you come over here?” Milo asks me with an attitude. I brush it off as him being concerned for his sister, but I feel like it’s something else. “Because some ape beat me to it.” I say, smirking at him. He lets out a loud laugh. “Díck.” He stops laughing and looks back towards Amelia and Nina. When she comes back, I can’t help myself. She asks about the boys and it riles me up. I snap at her but instantly regret it. “I’m going to check out the security room. I’ll be back soon.” Joey said into my ear. I nodded, never taking my eyes off Amelia. “Can I talk with you?” I hate that I snapped at her because of my own insecurities. “Sure.” she says as slides closer to me. Goddess, she smells so fücking good. Her scent is more prominent from all the dancing she’s done and it’s making my mouth water. ••• I apologise to her for how I acted and we spend the rest of the night talking and laughing. Just being near her makes me feel better and happier than I’ve ever felt. I can’t help but smile when I’m with her. “It’s getting late. I’m gonna go home.” “I’ll take you home.” I want to make sure she gets home safely, especially with someone lurking around today. “Ok, let me see if Nina is coming.” She turns around and instantly turns back. “I think she’s good!” She says laughing, making me laugh. Her laugh is infectious. I can’t help but laugh along with her. “Yep, she seems good to me.” I pick her hand up to help her out of the booth when I feel it. The tingles. They run up and down my hand, letting me know my mate is touching me. I look at our hands entwined with each other and smile. This is the most amazing feeling. I take her to my car and help her in. My mom always taught me to be a gentleman. If she found out I wasn’t, she would kick my ass and that is one ass kicking I don’t want. We make small talk in the car, but I’m just building up the nerve to ask her out. She makes me so nervous, who would have thought it. A mighty Alpha wolf is scared to ask a girl out. Oh well, it’s now or never. “I want to ask if you would like to go somewhere with me one day?” “Go somewhere with you?” She looks taken aback. “Like a date?” She asks me. Her voice goes higher. “Yes, you are very special Amelia.” She smiles, and it lights up the car, then I notice she’s nodding her head. “Is that a yes?” “Yes.” she says shyly. I feel ecstatic and can’t help the smile on my face the rest of the drive to her house. I walk her to her door and I arrange to pick her up after she finishes work tomorrow. I can’t help myself. I lean in closer to her and realise I’m moving too fast so I kiss her cheek. She touches at the spot on her face I had just kissed and opens the door and walks in. I wait outside to make sure she’s ok. I can hear her heart beating fast on the other side of the door. It makes me so happy to know that it’s me that makes her heart race like that. ••• The rest of the night my dreams are plagued with Amelia. I have trouble dragging myself out of bed, but I have a date with her tonight. I can’t believe that I have a date with the most beautiful and amazing woman in the world. I lose myself in pack work for the morning and go into the office in the afternoon. I forgot to get Amelia’s number, so I decided to wait outside of the bar. I feel so nervous but so excited at the same time. When she walks out she looks sad and my heart drops, but then she looks at me. Her eyes flash with a lustful look, making me feel giddy that I have that effect on her. It’s good to know this isn’t a one-way street with us. We go to the movies and throughout the film, all I can think of is how close she is to me. She keeps jumping, making me chuckle at how cute she is. I rest my hand on hers and she instantly calms. I can feel her energy change. After the date, I take her home and like I was taught by my mom, I walk her to the front door. As I’m standing there trying to find the courage to kiss her, she surprises me by grabbing my jacket and pulling me down towards her and crashing her lips onto mine. I freeze like a fücking moron. Too shocked to register what the f**k is going on, but it’s too late. She pushes me away and slams the door in my face. Fück. Why the fück did I just stand there. I have wanted to kiss her so badly since the moment I saw her and I just f*****g stood there like a muppet. I don’t know how I’m going to make this better, but I need to. Why didn’t she give me time to react? She just pulled away and slam! I don’t understand women whatsoever. I walk back to my car with my tail between my legs, pissed off with myself. I need to make this right. Tomorrow. I will make it right tomorrow. She said she would go out with me again, so tomorrow is when I will make it right.
