I followed my brother into the hole in the wall where the unsavory gang had entered. The room was low lit and smelled of weed and cigarettes, both of which made my nose burn. I always hated the smell of cigarettes and I never understood the appeal. The last thing I wanted to do was smell like an ashtray or have stained teeth. Then there was weed which wasn’t as bad in the smell, but the effects were insane. I once tried to smoke it with my friends and the next thing I knew I was in bed with a stuffed animal I was convinced was Neffi, and that is why I don’t smoke now.
The room was packed almost to the brim with groups of people sitting at the 20 or so tables spaced out in front of us, while some were on the dance floor dancing to what sounded like a mix between Chris Brown and Billy Rae
