August's P.O.V
"Your father is so tall."
After we were done eating and story telling, which was not much more than what Father told me, Father and Mr. Wilson decided to catch up, leaving me and Rafaela nowhere to go.
"I think so too." but that's because he is a god. Usually, gods and goddesses are tall, tell than buildings. We are gigantic, but I don't usually do that even in Olympus.
"Well, why aren't you?" I laughed.
"I'm an inch taller than you. So, I'm still tall." she thinks about it for a second and then nods, proving my point.
"True." she admitted.
"I know, right. What do you want to do now?"
There was really nothing I could do, or we, at this point. School is out for a week and we have nothing else to do. Now that I've told Rafaela that I like her, things doesn't seem so awkward as usual, and I don't seem to be so nervous around her anymore. I don't have anything to hide anymore, maybe that explains it.
"I don't know." she answers me honestly.
"I still want to rest so, can I go home?" I had another plan in mind.
"You're ditching me again? You're so cold-blooded."
"It's cold and I want to snuggle under the covers, so yes." she pouted.
"I see Austin. and I bet he'll give you some fun." she crosses her arms.
"We aren't a thing, you know."
"I know but I still think he's my competition. You already spent the night at my place, so that gives me an advantage."
"Are you for reals?" I laugh.
"Have fun, Rafaela." I give her forehead a gentle kiss and walked away, waving my hand.
After I made sure I was out of sight from Rafaela, I teleported behind her, of course, hiding, as Austin and pretends to look at the retreating figure of August while approaching Rafaela.
"Was that August?" Rafaela jumps in surprise.
"The heck? Where did you come from?"
"Huh? I'm pretty sure August told you I'm here?"
"And how do you know she's- oh, because of the eyes?" she facepalms herself. Cute.
"Yes, you kept bringing it up. I just instantly knew it was her." she nods her head.
"How come I didn't see you and August saw you?"
"I was passing by? You were always looking at August. It's giving me a heartache." I place my hand on my chest, feigning hurt.
"Quit playing." she shoves me away softly and starts walking.
I follow behind her and smiled.
"So? Where are you going? And why did she leave you without saying 'hi' to me?"
"She says she wanted to rest."
"But aren't you her rest?" she eyes me before started walking again.
I giggle to myself. I want to get into her nerves more. The more she gets irritated, the more reaction I'll get from her.
"I keep seeing more and more. Are you stalking me?" I walk beside her and look up ahead.
"Probably. You want to be stalked?" she shakes her head.
"I think I'm being surrounded by pretty people." she smiles to herself and stopped walking.
"Pretty people? Am I one of those?"
She turns to me with a genuine smile on her face. She grabbed my hand and we started running. She's so instantaneous that I can't keep up but I like it. She looks so carefree, so happy.
"Why are we running?" I screamed.
People were watching us, probably asking why two people were running in broad daylight. Oh, look at that. I called myself a human.
"I just want to run." she screams back, making me giggle.
Her hair waves along with the air. Her laughter filled my ears like music and her smile made glitters emerge from everywhere. She looked dazzling and bright. Her eyes were happy, and I could see them smiling. She looks at me over her shoulder and gives me a wider smile, making me smile more. My heart was enjoying this moment.
And I want to enjoy it more.
"Hey, Austin."
She finally stops running. She catches her breath while I remain stoic and kempt. Once she had regained her breath, she looks straight in my eyes. We were still surrounded by people but it didn't matter to us. We felt like we exist and it was just the two of us.
"Yes, beautiful?"
Ah, I always wanted to say that to her. She purses her lips together.
"I'm liking two people at once, but is that possible?"
I got stiff all of a sudden. Not my d**k, but my stature. My heart started pounding hard, and fast. Was she pertaining to Austin and August? Could she perhaps be confused on what to do about her feelings? Then why isn't she telling August this, and only Austin? Was there something that I portrayed as Austin and not as August?
"Depends. Why do you like those people?"
She walks to the bench and sits there. The warm sun was out but it was still a little chilly. It was almost winter. I sit beside Rafaela and watched the people pass by us, busy with their own worlds.
"They're similar in so many ways. So so similar. The actions, the goofy smile, where and how they're with me. Even their choice of words are similar."
"Woah. Choice of words? I think you've fallen deep."
She giggles to herself and rocks her feet back and forth. They were cute, swinging above in mid air.
"Really? Earl says that too. But I don't know yet."
"How do you feel about those people interacting with other people?"
"I haven't seen them interact with other people."
Hmm. Should I try that as August?
"What about them caring about the others more than they care about you?"
Let's try putting it inside her head. I'm not going to confess again as August. I'm going to make her confess to August first. I'll confess as Austin though. But not now, that's for sure.
"Well, that would be, I don't know. I need to see for sure."
"Alright. Well, I hope you're going to be okay with it."
"Huh? Why?"
I stand up and stretched my legs.
"Because that s**t hurts."
After I talked with Rafaela, we decided to go home for the day since we weren't wearing that much thick clothes. I hope my words as Austin was engraved in her mind.
I didn't see Rafaela in a week and Father said he'll be back by the end of this month to tell me something. I forgot to ask about Mine. It's not an excuse that father was busy with Mr. Wilson, so I only have myself to blame. I hope Mine is doing fine in Olympus and I hope that she forgives me.
The entire week, I kept on sleeping and didn't eat. As well Pharsa. It was cold, perfect for the coldness of the outside world. It was warm under my covers and my pillows were comfy.
The next morning, school was open. I made sure I was late with Pharsa. She, of course, had to interrogate me and whatnot because this was the first time I wanted to be late. After morning classes, I made sure to avoid Rafaela by talking to Pharsa.
"What's with you?" she asks, annoyed by me clinging to her.
"Making Rafaela jealous." Pharsa rolls her eyes.
"Do it with someone else."
I see Rafaela on my peripheral vision looking at us with a beautiful scowl on her face. She was with Earl and Sarah and they were probably talking.
"Come on, just for today." I placed my hands on Pharsa's shoulders and feigned looking Pharsa in the eyes.
"And who are you going to do this with tomorrow? Mine's not here already. I think she's made her choice."
I sighed. My hands went limp to my side and my back hit the locker. I completely forgot about Mine again. Am I that stuck up on Rafaela that I keep forgetting about Mine?
"You're right. I don't think she'll be back." I felt bad.
Why'd I didn't tell mine? Right, because I know she'll make the same choice as she did right now. She chooses to follow her mother's order. I want to see Mine and apologize upfront. She deserves to be respected and I didn't do that.
"If you're really that guilty, why not go see her?" I look Pharsa in the eyes.
"I'm a coward."
"I don't see you as a coward. I see you as a lovesick i***t. I think you're more of an i***t than I am." she shakes her head in disapproval.
"Gee, thanks."
"What I'm saying is that, I'm sure Mine doesn't hate you."
"And how do you know that?"
Pharsa grabs my hand and gives me a smile. A smile that I've never seen before. A smile of.. gratitude?
"Because you gave her happiness and I felt the same way."
She brought my hand on her chest and I feel her heart beating loud and fast.
"You.." she lets go of my hand.
"So don't be a coward and go face her." my hand fell limp to my side.
"Alright. Thank you. I didn't know you could say things like that."
"Trust me, I'm as surprised as you." she runs her fingers through her black and white hair.
I giggle.
"I'll visit Olympus after class. Will you be visiting the Underworld too?"
She thinks about it for a second.
"Yeah, I guess I will." I smile at her. I think the human world is rubbing off on her.
"Alright. I'll see you tomorrow then." she nods her head.
"Good luck with your mission on Rafaela." she walks away and waves at me, making me remember why I was with Pharsa in the first place.
I sigh and turned to where Rafaela and the others were. I walk to the trio sheepishly.
"Yo,"
"Hey, August."
Sarah and Earl greeted me warmly. Earl and I did our handshake with a smile on our faces.
"Wassup," I answered back.
"Rafaela? Something wrong?" Earl asks, but I could hear the hint of playfulness in his voice. The underlying teasing in his statement.
"No, nothing." Rafaela shakes her head in spite.
"Alright? You sure?" Sarah asks, making sure her best friend is okay.
"Yes."
"Should we go grab lunch?" I ask them.
"Yeah, let's. I'm quite hungry." Earl says.
"Duh, you're always hungry."
I wonder if Earl and Sarah told Rafaela. No, I don't think so. I wonder how Earl and Sarah took the news about us being deities. And why did Mine tell them? Was Pharsa present at that time? Should I ask her? Wait, I can just ask Mine later when I go to Olympus.
"Oh, shut up." they were bickering again, making me laugh.
They didn't stop bickering even after we had ordered our lunch. Even after we sat down.
"Can you stop? You're disgusting." Earl says to Sarah but Sarah continued just to annoy Earl.
Sarah stuffs her face with fries and not chewing them, showing her mouthful of fries to Earl. Earl scrunches his nose in disgust and kept looking away.
"No whay," Sarah's words were airy and that was why it was so much funnier.
Another student came to out table and sat opposite of Rafaela. Rafaela was taking her time eating her lunch beside me but kept ignoring me.
"Hey, hey, have you heard about what happened?" the student says, catching all of our attention.
"What is it?" Rafaela asks, curious too.
"At the storm, a student said that she saw an angel, fighting off the thunder that was about to struck the school."
I stopped breathing. Sarah's fries fell to the ground and Earl looked at me.
"Huh? An angel? She must be hallucinating." Rafaela shakes her head in disbelief.
"It's true! That was what she thought too but since then, she couldn't stop thinking about that angel. She even said that the angel had golden wings instead of white and big too." the student looks at us one by one and then settled to Rafaela.
"That can't be true." Rafaela insisted.
Sarah nudges me making me look at her.
"Someone saw you?" she whispers to me.
"I don't know." I whispered back.
"I believe her though. I mean, outside the school, there are some fallen trees struck by lightning but our school is unscathed."
I grit my teeth. Someone saw me. This is the first time a deity has been seen by a human that close. I gulp, feeling nervous. I was too careless.
"It's just coincidence." Rafaela was still shrugging it off.
"I believe the student." Earl says, making Rafaela look at him.
"You do?"
"Me too." Sarah says.
A small smile emerged from my lips. Aw, they're so cute.
"You too? Why?" Rafaela asks.
"Well, why not?" Earl looks at Sarah and Sarah nods her head.
"You might not believe it, but we do."
"This is a first, disagreement and all." Rafaela sighs and looked at the student.
"Was that all?" I ask the student and the student flinches.
"Uh, yes. Bye." he walks away feeling embarrassed.
"Students are still overwhelmed by your appearance." Earl laughs as he says that.
After we ate our lunch, we went our separate ways and attended our afternoon classes. Rafaela didn't talk to me. I guess that was natural. Okay, no more mission jealous. I'd rather have second thoughts than make her feel at pain and jealous.
As I was on my way to the exit of the school, I saw Rafaela, Earl and Sarah together.
"Yo! We waited for you." Earl says.
"Why?" the gesture made me happy despite me asking.
"I have no practice so, why not?
"Alright."
"Let's go eat something before we go home." Sarah suggest.
"I'm down. You?" I ask Rafaela. She looks at me and then nods, not really saying a word.
"Why are you so silent?" Earl asks Rafaela.
"Nothing." was what she said.
We walked to that diner we had last time, with Mine. I wonder if Pharsa went direct to the Underworld. I don't sense her presence anymore, so I guess she did.
"Where's Mine though? I haven't seen her." Sarah asks me.
"Oh, she went home." Earl and Sarah looks at each other, knowing exactly where I meant.
"Will she come back?" I sigh.
"I don't think so, Sarah."
"Why not?" Earl asks.
"Isn't that Mine over there?" Rafaela points in front of us.
I turn my head swiftly to where she was pointing and my heart dropped. It was Mine. I jog to her but she turned to the side. The action made me suspicious but I followed her anyway. The others followed behind me, jogging as well.
Once I rounded up the corner, I saw Mine standing.
"Mine?" the other stops behind me and listens to our conversation.
"Come home, Your Highness." she ignored the others and looked at me dead in the eyes, with betrayed eyes. It hurt me.
"I'm sorry," was all I could say.
I felt someone above us, and I recognize this aura. I grit my teeth and transformed to Austin and let my wings out the same time Ares landed in front of me. He had a smug look on his face.
"Holy shit." Earl says.
The grounds shook when Ares landed from up high. He was tall but father was taller.
"Your Highness, come home." his voice irritated me.
I flap my wings hard, making him and Mine pushed backwards by the air.
"I don't want to." was I said.
"You leave me no choice, Your Highness." Ares says, still with that smug look.
"Wait!" Mine interjects Ares threat and faced me. Ares was now behind Mine.
"Fine. Do it your way." Ares clicks his tongue and turns his back towards us.
"Please, come home. I'll forgive you if you come home." Mine was begging me and she looked pitiful.
I grab Mine's shoulders and give her a hug. A much awaited hug.
"I'll take responsibility for my actions. But I won't go back home. I'm sorry."
Mine looks down.
"Done?" Ares asks.
"Yes," Mine says and pushes me away.
Ares was fast and came towards me instantly but in an instant, Ares was on the wall. I look behind us and saw Pharsa. Her wings were out, and her blindfold was back.
"How dare you try and harm the Prince?" Pharsa's echo-y voice collided with the alley we were at.
I went to check on the others while Pharsa handled the situation.
"Are you guys okay?" I ask the three of them.
"What the actual f**k?" Rafaela asks.
"Uh, I'll explain soon. But right now, can you please back away?"
Earl and Sarah grabbed Rafaela's arms and they backed away.
"Wait, you knew?!" Rafaela asks while being dragged away.
I face Ares and Mine. Mine had her wings out already while Ares stands firm in front of Mine.
"Ah, the royalties." Ares says.
"The Prince is not to be touched." Pharsa says.
I place a hand on Pharsa's shoulder. She looks at me for a second and backed away.
"Is it a fight you want?" Ares grins and steps up.
"I'm tired of hearing everyone in Olympus talk about how you're so superior. Shall we test that out?"
"Anytime you're ready."
Ares moved a muscle, but that was all I need to anticipate his attack. He was really easy to read. Instantly, I pinned Ares to the same area on the wall where Pharsa threw him to. He coughs out blood as his head got squished in between my hand and the wall.
"Have I proven enough to you, Ares?" he grunted. I released him and fell to the ground with bloody face.
"How the hell are you good in fighting when all you do is f**k around goddesses?"
I turn my back and gestured to Pharsa to go to the others. She did as I told.
"I'm sorry, Mine. I hope you're happy with your decision." I began walking away.
"Hey! Answer me, damnit!"
But I didn't.
