August's P.O.V
She's staying then night. What should I do? Will it be awkward? We kissed and I left, there should be some awkward tension, right? Oh, Father, I don't know what to do. Shall I bury myself? Shall I face Rafaela? How am I going to explain to her? Should I say something? Should I kiss her again?
I pace back and forth in my room, thinking of things that shouldn't be thought of. Like what if Rafaela wants s*x? Will I be able to satisfy her? Of course, I could. But will Rafaela ever asks? No, no, no. I'm sure she just kissed me back because I went away and she heard Hercules tell me to come home. What if she asks about Hercules? Cousin? We're so different, I don't think we'll pass as cousins.
"Crap. What to do?" I shake my head.
The door bursts open and I immediately sat down on the edge of the bed. My heart was pounding like crazy. Rafaela was wearing my clothes, and we're alone inside my room, and we KISSED, and she's a bit mad. I see that kissing again isn't going to happen.
"Can you tell me now?" she felt urgent. Her voice demanded explanation that I know I couldn't explain well. I chew the insides of my cheeks, anxious of what she'll say if she finds out the truth.
"Tell you what?" I was not lying. I'm keeping so many from her that I don't know which one she's referring to. I don't want to be careless as to say something entirely different. That might ruin me.
"Why I didn't see you inside the gym like everyone else. Even Pharsa was there!" she sits next to me and crosses her arms over her chest, puffing her already above average breasts.
Oh, that one.
"I got scared and ran home?"
She looks me in the eyes with this exaggerated unmovable expression. She was eyeing me for possible lies but I held firm.
"You're telling me that you went to tell me to go to the gym so you can go home when, in the first place, you weren't even in school?"
Okay, I'm doomed.
I sighed, just to make her see that I was done lying.
"Alright, fine. I went back to the Principal, escorted him to the gym and searched for other students and then the ground suddenly shakes and the next thing I knew, I went to the cafeteria to seek shelter." I look her dead in the eyes, acted sad and kept quiet.
This time, she finally accepts my reason and purses her lips.
"You should've ran to the gym, you know."
"I know but the ground was shaking continuously. What if I got squished? Huh?" she rolls her eyes and then places her head on my shoulder.
"You're right. I'd miss your goofy smile."
"I have a goofy smile?"
I thought my smile was contagious and beautiful, like what the goddesses tell me. Were they wrong or Rafaela just has some peculiar observations? Either way, I'd still accept her compliments or comments without any hesitation.
"Yes, you have. Like a little boy, running around, mischief on his tail."
"Ahhh, I get it. Alright."
"Where did you go, August?"
She finally pops the question. I thought she'd forgotten about that. Does that mean she keeps on thinking about the kiss? Our kiss? Does she want more? No, no. I should answer first before I jump to conclusions again.
"I went home. My, erm, house had a little strife."
"You have a big family?"
"I wouldn't say big? Just, just many."
Rafaela lifts her head and looks at me. I look back at her and we stared into each other's eyes. The room was a little dim, because I like dim-lighted places. I think it's pretty nice and good aesthetics. Also, it's a bit romantic. Like this instance, us looking at each other's eyes in a room, where it's dim-lighted. See where I'm going?
"I also remember another thing," she asks, not breaking our eye contact. Her eyes were hard to read. I don't know what goes in her mind and she's pretty much unpredictable.
"Yeah?"
"What was that kiss about?"
I giggle softly and averted my eyes.
"It was a kiss."
"A kiss for?"
"A kiss kind of confession." there's no other way around this.
"What kind of confession?"
"I think you want me to say it?" I ask, joking about it.
"Yes, actually."
I inhaled sharply.
"I confess my feelings for you, Rafaela Wilson. I've liked you since the first time we saw each other."
"The first time we saw each other? When you grabbed me from almost bumping into a wall?"
I still remember that day vividly. Ah, I smile to myself.
"Yes, that one." oh, that sounds like it indicated that we met two times.
"Why? How?"
"What do you mean?"
"I don't understand what you like about me? You don't know anything about me that day. Just my face. Don't tell me you're after the face?" I laugh hard.
"Why would you think that way? Am I that shallow?"
"No, but I just don't understand."
I thought we were going to be talking about it awkwardly. All the anxiousness I felt earlier were suddenly gone and I felt comfortable. Normally, I'd feel nervous and afraid that she'd reject me instantly. This feels totally different.
"I still remember that day vividly. Your smile instantly made me smile too. I remember I was very nervous that day because everyone kept staring at me. Then you came, and you suddenly washed everything away. Your voice was so melodic, and your eyes were pure."
"Woah, are you trying to write me a poem or something?"
"Huh? Should I?" she shakes her head.
"Just saying. You really thought about that?"
"I still think about that, you know."
"Oh,"
The silence was comfortable to me, but I don't know for her.
"If you're creeped out, I can sleep in the living room?" Rafaela aggressively shakes her head 'no'.
"This is your room, why would you sleep in the living room?"
"Because you're a guest?"
"Nonsense." she says.
"Or I can sleep in Mine's room."
"Speaking of Mine, where is she?"
"Ah, she went back home too. It turns out she was needed there."
"Huh. Makes sense."
I stand up and stretched my body.
"You don't have to give me an answer right away, but if you already have an answer in mind, say so and I'll accept whichever it is."
"Can't we sleep together?" she asks.
This is what I'm saying. I can't read her mind. I don't know if she likes me too or not, as August, because she keeps doing things like this. But she can't possibly be with August and be with Austin at the same time, right? Well, there's one thing that should be done if I want to know.
"Are you sure you want to?"
"Of course I am. Cuddle with me."
"Are you sure you can trust me though?"
"You probably could've r***d me in my sleep the last time if you wanted to but you didn't. I think I can trust you enough with everything that I have."
She is so quick-witted. She's fast to catch on things that aren't related to her at all. If only.
"Alright."
I crawl on the bed and snuggled under the covers. She giggles and snuggles under the covers too. She inches closer to me and hugs my upper torso. She felt warm and she smelled like me. She must've used my body wash. It's good on her. It suits her.
"I like cuddling with you." she says, her voice already sounding drowsy.
"Why?" I play with her hair, making her feel drowsy more.
"You're incredibly soft and.. mhm, warmm." her breathing went stable and rhythmic.
I kept playing with her hair until I fell asleep as well.
The next morning, I woke up with Rafaela still sleeping. We didn't move at all. We were still in the same position I remember we were last night. We slept so soundly that we didn't even move? Is that even physically possible? I squint my eyes, adjusting to the light. It seems that the storm is completely gone.
But I suddenly felt his presence. My eyes went wide and I slowly get up, afraid that I might wake her up from her deep slumber. But she still woke up. She shifts and groans before fluttering her eyes open.
"What time is it?" her voice sounded still so sleepy. She looked beautiful with her sleepy face. Her eyelids kept threatening to fall down.
"I'm about to find out."
I stand up and she shifts, and turns to the other side. I walk outside the room and found a gigantic man sitting on my living room with his legs crossed like he owns the place. His bright yellow eyes strikes me inside, shattering my walls in an instant.
"Father," I facepalmed.
"Is she?" he asks.
I turn around and saw Rafaela with wide eyes.
"Uhm, good morning, Sir." Rafaela instantly stands up straight and combs her hair with her fingers, frantic all of a sudden.
"Good morning, dear. How was your night? Rough?" I facepalms again.
"Father,"
"I'm just kidding, right, dear?" father asks Rafaela, making her giggle sheepishly and nod, taking his side rather than mine.
"What are you doing here, father?"
"Just checking in on my daughter after the rough storm yesterday."
Like you weren't the one who caused it.
"Right. Have you eaten, Father?"
"Should we eat somewhere?"
"Who?" I ask.
"Pharsa, and you two."
I look at Rafaela who looks so dazzling after a few minutes of fixing her getup and then to father.
"Alright, I'll talk to Pharsa." I give him a nod and looked back at Rafaela.
"You're gonna leave me here?" she whispers to me making me giggle and at the same time, feel bad.
"I'll be in a few."
I walk to Pharsa's room, knocked and went inside. Her room was still dark and there was no movement whatsoever in her room. I close the door behind me and walk near to the bed.
"Don't disturb me."
"Father's here. He wants to eat with us."
"Just us three?"
"No? Rafaela's here too."
"You three enjoy yourselves. She'll take my place."
I can't even see Pharsa while we talk, it's like I'm talking to a wall or something, that can talk back. I look around, searching for signs of life but found none. She must be under her covers.
"And what will you be doing?"
"Duh. To enjoy this warm clothing and solitude."
Ah, okay.
"I thought you didn't like sweaters? Because they're absurd?"
"I was wrong. Now, go away."
"Suit yourself."
I exited Pharsa's room and found the two sitting awkwardly on opposite ends of the sofa. Rafaela was looking everywhere except where my father was. Father was looking at her like a creep. He's probably evaluating Rafaela. He always does that. Maybe he's also curious about who I'm attracted to and who I chose.
"Are you two okay?" I ask them both, knowing what the answer would be.
"Yes, honey. Now, where's Pharsa?"
"Fine, too." Rafaela answers timidly with her lips pursed together tightly.
"She says she can't make it. Can I introduce another person then?"
I look at Rafaela and smiled but she has no clue so she didn't smile back and just stared at me with a confused expression.
"That's alright to me, hon. Shall we?" Father stands up, his tallness was almost unbelievable.
He is the king of gods after all. Everything that he possess, is solely his.
"Rafaela? Shall we?"
"Oh, uh, okay."
I asked for Rafaela's phone and figured out a way how to call her father. She was surprised that I know my way towards phones when I didn't have one nor know what it was in the first place. But really, I was having a hard time but I didn't let her see that. Once I've figured everything out, I purposefully showed and boasted to Rafaela how good I was, hence the compliment.
I excused myself for a second and waited for Mr. Wilson to pick up. Once he did, I told him everything and he agreed to willingly. I could even hear the excitement on his voice.
I went back to the table and gave Rafaela her phone back.
"Who did you call?" she looks at her phone before setting it to her side of the table.
"You'll know soon enough." I wink at her and looked at my father who was still examining the nervous Rafaela.
"Father, that's quite enough staring."
Father chuckles before facing Rafaela with a genuine smile.
"Hello, dear. I apologize for my behavior. Are you my daughter's girlfriend?"
Rafaela blinks at me before facing my father.
"No, Sir."
"Please, call me Father."
"Father!" I exclaimed.
Rafaela just stayed the night after my confession. She didn't give me an answer yet, or she won't, but still we're not together. Although I'd love for us to get together in the future.
"What? I want you to wed already."
That isn't rare in Olympus. Having a ceremony is, because that's reserved for royals only. But being bound to someone isn't rare. You can announce that you've decided to live together 'together' and then Olympus will give you both a feast as a sign of positive greetings. That may sound great but even if you're announced 'together', the both of them can still sleep around if they want.
"Woah, that's so early." Rafaela says, making me pout but father just laughs.
"I want her to wed early if it's you."
"Oh, no, August deserves someone more and someone who can give her more." father gives me a gentle smile before leaning on the table and giving Rafaela a knowing look.
"Sometimes, we do not know what we're capable of until we actually tried."
Just then, Mr. Wilson suddenly shows up with a big smile on his face. He slowly walks behind my father, studying father's golden hair. I could read his expression and it was nice to see. How someone can feel so happy about seeing another person.
Father didn't turn around but I know he felt Mr. Wilson's presence, slowly creeping out to him.
"Zeus!" Mr. Wilson screams and sits slowly next to father.
"That's your father's name?" Rafaela whispers to me, making me nod.
"What a coincidence. And how do they know each other?" she whispers again while our fathers talk animatedly.
"You can ask them yourself later? I want to know too."
"But how do you know that my father knows your father?"
"Your father told me." I whispered softly.
"It's nice seeing you again, Zeus!"
"Truly. How many years has it been?"
I giggle and let them be in their own world. I figured father wouldn't have fun and relax with just me and Rafaela, they're still too stiff and tense around each other. I want to somehow make it fun for everyone. Calling Mr. Wilson was the right choice.
"Shall we order?" I ask Rafaela since the two of them were still so into their conversation that they don't even remember Rafaela and I sitting across from them.
Elders.
"I think we should. I'm hungry."
I called the waiter, the same method that Rafaela used on our date back in the cafe, and smiled proudly at myself.
"Look at you, taking the lead." she teases me as she elbows me softly on the side, making me smirk and point at myself.
"Of course, who do you think I am?"
When the waiter arrived, the two men instantly shifted their attention to the menu and gave their order, shifting to a customer and then went back to talking after ordering. I've never heard father being this talkative before. It really is different when you're in the human world and it's so much different if it's the Wilsons.
"That'd be all. Thank you." I told him and hand him our menus.
"Alright. I'll be back with your orders."
He walks away with a smile on his face. I turn to Rafaela who also had a smile on her luscious lips.
"What?"
"Just thinking how you were so awkward before."
"I learn from my mistakes." she had a smug look on her face.
"This might be an inappropriate situation since we're with our fathers but seeing as how they're ignoring us, I might as well just ask about that question that you didn't ask."
I giggled, completely agreeing on the 'father' part.
"Okay, shoot."
She leans closer to me.
"Why didn't you ask me why I kissed you back?" she whispers her question to me so that our fathers won't hear it, but I doubt they will. They're still to interested in catching up rather than knowing their daughters' secret.
I heaved a long, and almost loud sigh.
"I thought you were the one asking the questions, so I didn't ask." she grins at me.
"You're one different person, August. I really thought you were going to ask."
"Oh, please, no." I played it off and waved my hand in front of my face.
"Are you perhaps thinking that I'm one thing and then does the other? A hypocrite?"
"Psh, no. Why would I?"
The playful tone of our conversation was amusing to me. How we're carelessly talking about it in public and in front of our fathers. I like how we're so shameless and so kept at the same time.
"You're right. I just said you were different." she corrects herself and nods her head to herself, talking to no one but herself.
"What are you doing," I laughed at her silliness.
"Oh, my, our daughters get along well." father says to Mr. Wilson, but loud, unlike earlier.
"Are you ready to talk to us now?" Rafaela asks the two grown men, making them chortle.
"Yes, sorry we took so long." father says and Mr. Wilson nods his head in agreement.
"So, where were we?" Mr. Wilson asks.
"How you two met each other."
And Rafaela pops the question.
