A Storm

Third Person's P.O.V "You're really back! A day before it becomes two weeks!" Mine exclaims and bows to August with a tear-strained face.  "I see that you're back." Pharsa smiles at August, which rarely happens when there's someone else.  "It's no time to celebrate."  Mine stands up immediately and Pharsa's crossed arms fell limp to the sides.  "A storm is coming."  "What?" Pharsa's shocked expression was painted all over her face.  August wanted to see Rafaela not angry once before she drops the dreadful information to an angry one later. It can't be helped. August left her at the end of their date.  "Is the King angry?"  "Yes, at the other gods."  "What do you mean, Your Highness?"  "Mine, I think you better go back."  "Wait, what?" Pharsa interrupts. "But Your Highness!"  I'm sorry, Mine but I can't keep this secret any longer. It's either you side with them and be angry with me or you realize the beauty of the human world and side with me. August told herself. "You can come back if you wish to, but if you won't, then I will accept your decision."  "I don't understand."  "You will, once you're in Olympus."  Only a few gods and goddesses know that August is in the human world, and Mine, including Mine's mother, Athena. The gods who knows are still a bit lenient about them being in the human world, but August doesn't know for how much longer. It's only a matter of time before everyone in Olympus knows that August is in the human world.  It turns out that Hercules wasn't the one that told them, but he was the one that brought me the warning. August remembers the meeting in Olympus. They were planning on sending Ares, which would be a disaster. They know how much August dislikes destruction. Them sending Ares would definitely stop August from coming back in the human world.  Mine nods her head without life and went back to her room, leaving August with a guilty Pharsa.  "She really doesn't know?"  "If she did, she wouldn't be here."  "Why'd you keep it a secret from her?"  Pharsa sits and she guided August to sit too. August too pressured to think of anything else. Zeus was angry indeed but it wasn't all just because of the other gods. It was also about him. Why he made that law about the deities not being able to come and stay in the human world for long. It was his rule and now August was cursed to that rule.  "I didn't know of it either. I really thought we were free because father gave us permission." "That was why you were worried about Mine when father did what he did?" August nods, frail.  "She deserves to pick."  "You know she can't." I smile sadly.  "I trust her to make a choice of her own."  Mine's door opened and she was dressed like how Olympians dressed.  "I'm going." she sounded so dry, but August didn't want to pry anymore. It was August's fault in the beginning, for not telling Mine earlier.  "Have a safe trip." that was all August could say before Mine heads to the door.  Pharsa escorted Mine outside.  Zeus blamed himself for being so rash when he made that law. Now he can't take it back, as it would seem favorable to August. Zeus did his best, and now August feels responsible and feels that she has to do her own thing. Zeus'  complacency of August coming in the human world and making her own decisions was still a puzzle to August.  Is he still keeping something from me?  August went to her room and pondered about this the whole night.  August woke up to strong gusts of wind, raging raindrops. Pharsa bursts in August's room in a panic.  "The school! It wasn't on the news that there was a storm!" August's eyes went wide and she immediately stands up.  Pharsa and August hurried their way to school. The rain was heavy and they were drenched. They were deities so they weren't that affected with the storm's harsh movement. Thunders and lightnings were all around, knocking trees down. August grits her teeth, hoping that everyone was okay.  "Why did your father cast this storm to where you are? Is he not afraid that you'll get injured?" Pharsa asks while they run.  "This is to prove to the others that he's reflecting on his decision."  "f*****g hell!"  When they reached school and Pharsa immediately casted a light barrier around the school to prevent the lightning to struck the school. August went directly to the Principal's Office and found him cowering under his desk.  "Mr. Principal! Are you okay?" August shouted since the storm was loud.  "Yes, yes! But how come the news didn't say anything about this storm!"  "Quick, tell everyone to gather around the gym!"  "Are you sure-" "Yes, hurry!"  August got out of the office and went directly to Rafaela's room. On her way to her room, August hears Mr. Principal's voice from the speakers, saying what August told him to. August opened the room and searched for a familiar blonde. They didn't hear August come in since the thunder was loud.  Once August spotted Rafaela's head, she immediately runs to her. Rafaela flinched and gasped when August held her but when Rafaela saw August, she instantly calmed down.  "WHY ARE YOU DRENCHED?" Rafaela shouts.  "No time to explain! Quick, gather everyone and tell them to proceed to the gym!"  "What?"  "Hurry! I'll tell the others too!" Rafaela nods her head in understanding, not leaving her much choice.  "Okay, okay!"  August stood up but Rafaela grabbed her hand, stopping August halfway.  "Be safe," Rafaela forgot about everything that happened after their date and was concerned about how August was taking the lead. August nods and went exited the room without second thoughts.  August wasn't the one going to gather everyone. Instead, she went to Pharsa and told her what August had in mind.  "Are you sure you can handle your father's thunders? Even my father can't!"  "Your barrier won't last long!" she grits her teeth.  "You better not die!" she runs at full speed while August stayed.  August inhaled and exhaled. This will be her first time deflecting her father's anger. She doesn't know if she can handle it. August teleported in the field and flew up high. She lets her wings out, letting her abilities go all out. She  didn't want to waste her energy so she waited until Pharsa's barrier was completely torn.  Pharsa was busy going from one room to another and instructed them to go to the gym and not look up. It was Pharsa's duty to not let them see someone flying, or with wings out. The only way to display the best of a deity's ability is to stretch out the wings. That way, nothing is concealed.  Pharsa's barrier was torn after three thunders. August didn't expect Pharsa's barrier would go down so easily. Zeus wasn't giving them much room to prepare and fight back. The two of them were having a hard time, not because they were unprepared but because they were dealing with the King's wrath. A king with full experience in combat. They could not possibly fight his thunders head on.  But August has no choice.  The first lightning came and August deflected it using her own thunder. August throws it to the upcoming thunder and together, the two thunders collided and an explosion occurred as an aftermath. The grounds shook. The students who were still on their way to the gym stumbled on their feet and fell down.  Pharsa held onto the wall, so as to not fall too.  "Crap. I need to find something else." August tells herself.  August's wings were now wet too but she didn't care. Her focus was the safety of her fellow students. August has taken a liking to the school, because that was where she first met Rafaela. She doesn't want the place to get destroyed.  Another thunder came in and August tried to think of other elements that can deflect thunder but there wasn't much August could think of that goes well against her father's thunder.  "Hold on!" August shouted to no one in particular and deflected it using her own thunder. Again, the grounds shook like there's no tomorrow.  An enraged shaking caused the already frightened students to hold on to each other tighter, embracing the impact and thinking of the worst thing that could happen. Pharsa held on tight and bites her own lip, nervous of what August will become. There was a reason why Zeus was the king, he was the mightiest andthe most powerful god in Olympus.  The grounds stop shaking and Pharsa regained herself.  "Quick! Run!" the other students blindly follows Pharsa's instructed and they started running.  One student, behind Pharsa, who was lagging a bit behind, looked to the field and saw something with wings. The student was afraid that maybe that was a sign that he was going to die so he ignored it and ran for his life. He overlapped Pharsa who didn't have any idea.  The grounds shook from time to time, causing Rafaela to worry about August. Rafaela waited anxiously for August to come in the gym with the other students but she didn't. Instead, Rafaela found a worried Pharsa. They were not on good terms but Rafaela had no choice. Rafaela slowly approaches Pharsa. Rafaela was afraid she might fall if the grounds shake again so she was being cautious not to trip.  "Pharsa!" she calls out, but Pharsa was too immersed in her own train of thought that she didn't hear Rafaela calling out to her.  Rafaela groans and places a hand on Pharsa's shoulder, completely surprising the deity. Pharsa was ready to fight if it was someone else, but when she saw Rafaela, she immediately sighs in relief.  "August?" Pharsa asks. Rafaela, without a second to spare, nodded her head.  "I don't see her anywhere."  "She's,"  Fuck. I didn't think of this through. Pharsa thought to herself.  "Where?" Rafaela was getting more and more anxious by the second.  "Somewhere.. somewhere in here!" Pharsa nods to herself, as if she was convincing herself with her own lie.  "Where exactly?" Pharsa tries to act annoyed.  "I don't know. Do you think I know? I assumed she's here somewhere."  Please believe me. Please.  "Fine. Thanks for the info." Rafaela walks away, her slightly wet shirt was sticking to her body, emphasizing her sexy figure.  "Dang. I'd hit that too, August. Now I see what you're seeing."  The grounds shook, interrupting Pharsa's naughty thought,  "I almost forgot that she's still fighting there." Pharsa facepalms herself.  August was having a hard time deflecting her own father's thunder. August wasn't even sure if the water trickling down her cheeks were rain or her sweat. She was almost giving up when the thought of Rafaela ending up drying just because she gave up came in to her mind. It energizes her and empowers her.  "No way!" she shouts and deflected another thunder.  Above, where Olympus and the other gods were, was Zeus, watching painfully at how her daughter is battling. But he was firm, resolute with his decision.  "Why is the prince out there, Zeus?" Athena asks.  "He is making his own decision." Zeus' deep voice could make others tremble, but not so with Athena.  Athena faced many wars up front. Facing Zeus would be nothing to her, aside the status. "He shouldn't be. He is meant to rule Olympus, to be the King after you."  Zeus groans, not liking where this conversation was heading.  "He is his own kind. You know he's not just a god."  Athena couldn't think of anything else to say back because Zeus was right.  "He doesn't even know yet. Or do you perhaps plan on telling him?"  "I will have to, if he demands the truth from me."  Athena's eyebrows raised and then knits together, confused by what Zeus is thinking.  "If you tell him everything, he wouldn't want to come back here." Athena tries again, her voice suggestive.  Zeus turns around and faces Athena with a straight face. He looks down at the woman in front of him as he was taller in physique.  "He doesn't even know yet and he's already taken a liking somewhere else. Tell me, what difference will it make?" Zeus' intimidating aura was suffocating Athena. Athena gulps softly, making sure Zeus didn't hear her.  Portraying fear is like admitting defeat to Athena. That was what Athena would always say to Mine. Athena was second-guessing her decisions and her ways. She wanted Mine wo grow up to be like her, strong and fearless, but even though Athena forced Mine to do everything Athena did when she was her age, Mine still isn't into war and fighting.  "He will not think of you as his father anymore. Do you want to be called something else by the deity you feed?" Zeus turns back again and looks at the struggling August, feeling proud a bit that August has her own consciousness and her own ways of thinking. Proud that August is where she is right now. Zeus thought August would grow up spoiled because of how the other gods were treating her, but she wasn't and that was the most wholesome thing Zeus could ever think of.  "I believe the truth is more important than one's selfishness to settle."  The thunders had stopped, but the lightning was still present. August was close to fainting but she was smiling happily. Happy that she had saved the school, her beloved. August fell to the ground. She had lost all her stamina, her strength and her breath in one set.  "Damn, I'm tired."  August retracted her golden wings. She lays there on the wet field, water falling to her face. It was still raining but the rage was done and no more. August smiles to herself before forcing herself to stand up, which she failed to do, and decided to crawl, but her body was too heavy so she just decided not to move. "Pharsaaaa, come get meeee." August whines to no one.  Pharsa did come to get August. Pharsa somewhat felt that August was calling out to her. Pharsa was searching for where August was and what was probably left of August. Pharsa had already thought of worse things after the storm. When Pharsa saw that August was still intact, she could not help but feel happy.  "Why are you laying on the muddy field? You look like an orc." Pharsa jokes off the post-unsettling feeling.  "I can't move a muscle."  Pharsa was amazed that August was still alive. Pharsa couldn't count how many times August successfully deflected the thunders of the thunder god.  She really is the offspring of Zeus.  "I thought so." Pharsa helps August to get up.  That night, school was announced cancelled for the entire week for the students to recuperate from the trauma brought by the heavy thunderstorm.  "How the hell did you manage to live?" Pharsa couldn't help but ask.  August was lying on the sofa, warm and cozy.  "And why aren't you doing anything to warm you up?"  "I'm trying to use the human way to warm up my body."  Pharsa portrays a disgusted face. Annoyed by how August was still trying to fit in the human world when her father had just wanted to destroy it earlier.  "That's disgusting." Pharsa commented before taking a seat next to August.  "It's actually pretty nice. You can keep the cold but still feel warm."  "What? That's absurd." Pharsa shakes her head in disapproval. August shakes her head before flicking her fingers and gave the magically present sweaters to Pharsa.  "Try it."  Pharsa looks at the suspicious clothing and then to August and then to the clothing, doubting the sweater's very existence. Pharsa extends her hand, finally deciding to give it a chance. Pharsa inhales sharply and grabs the sweater, puts it on and instantly feels cozy, warm, comfortable and complete.  "This is absurd! Humans are amazing!" Pharsa smiles and instantly curls into a small ball, to which August found adorable. "I told you."  "Yeah, yeah. This is nice. I'm going to bed." Pharsa stands up and drags her feet across the room as she kept hugging herself.  August shakes her head with a smile and decides to call it a day too. But as soon as August got up from her seat, there was a loud knock on the door, loud KNOCKS to be exact.  August opens the door and there revealed a worried Rafaela. Rafaela was a bit mad that she didn't get to see August after the storm earlier and she was mad that August had left her without any bit of explanation. August surely didn't expect Rafaela to come to her with such no notice.  "It's late out! What are you doing here?" August was evidently concerned that Rafaela was out late at night, after the storm at that. It was dangerous, especially for a girl like Rafaela who's known to the neighborhood and who's beautiful.  "What are you doing then?" Rafaela strikes back the question but August didn't understand what it meant.  "What do you mean?"  Rafaela pushes August inside and closed the door behind her. She points her index finger at August and jabs it repeatedly on August's shoulder.  "Do you think you can run away without any explanation?" she jabs after a word she speaks. "And where were you earlier? I was worried!"  August notices that Rafaela was a bit wet from the rain. August goes to her room and grabs Rafaela a towel and some fresh clothes.  "Stay the night and change into these first."  Rafaela calms down a bit after seeing August's tired and worried face. She inhales and exhales gently before grabbing the clothes and towel from August.  "Where's your bathroom?"  "Over there." August points at a door on the left.  "Okay. I'll be right back."
