Two Weeks or Never

Third Person's P.O.V  The next day, at school, Rafaela kept looking for August but didn't find her. Rafaela didn't want to trouble Mine because Mine was also feeling nervous for some reason. Rafaela waited until the next two days.  "Mine. Where's August?" Rafaela shakes Mine aggressively to the point that Mine's visual was blurry and Mine felt faint.  "Yo, chill. Poor girl." Earl says, stopping his best friend from torturing a pure, innocent soul.  "I don't know either." Mine forced her eyes shut, blinked a couple of times before her vision was back on full track.  Mine didn't want to lie to Rafaela but August didn't exactly gave her any instructions as to what or what not to disclose.  "She's visiting her parents. That's what she said."  "But you're cousins. Where's your home?" Rafaela asks, still troubled and confused and conflicted.  "August says she didn't want to let you know through me."  I'm sorry, August.  "I didn't expect that this would frustrate me so much." Rafaela says before storming away, leaving Earl, Sarah and Mine together.  "Do you think she's..?" Sarah asks.  "Probably or they had some unfinished business." Earl answers.  "How do you know that?" Mine asks, confused as to how they knew these things.  "Rafaela isn't the type to fall in love easily, or even like." Sarah answers truthfully.  "True. I still remember the day when one of my teammates confessed to Rafaela a couple of times. They were pretty close too but Rafaela just didn't feel it. They even made out for quite some time." Earl shakes his head.  "Is Rafaela for everyone? That's what I'm getting." Mine bluntly asks.  Sarah and Earl exchanged looks before laughing.  "No, Rafaela definitely likes someone."  Mine was even more confused. One minute they were saying that Rafaela isn't the type to settle down, but then they're saying 'no'. Mine's simple-minded brain couldn't function properly.  Humans are complicated.  "How? What? Huh?" Sarah pats Mine's back gently.  "Come, let's eat lunch."  They went to the cafeteria without Rafaela. They were giving her some space. The three ordered their food and sat down on their usual table. Once they were seated, Mine instantly looks at the two, asking for an explanation through her dark blue eyes.  "Right," Earl says and clears her throat before proceeding.  "Just like how Rafaela's never really easily liked someone, she's not also the type to get attached easily." Earl finished his statement before turning to Sarah who was about to take her first bite of her lunch.  Mine looks at Sarah too, expectant.  "You should've just finished it after I could eat, you know!" Sarah exclaims before putting her spoon down.  "I need to eat too." Earl scoffs before taking his first bite.  "Fine," Sarah rolls her eyes.  "It's no biggie. You don't have to, really." Mine felt a bit guilty.  Earl nudged Sarah, making Sarah feel bad too.  "No, no. We're totally fine about it. Earl's face is just eww. Know what I mean?" Sarah winks at Mine while Earl scoffs and pushes Sarah softly.  Mine giggled softly, stopping Earl and Sarah from bickering. They were star struck by Mine's beauty, and by her smile mostly. It's been a while since they've seen Mine smile and the last time was when they first met, because of Rafaela. The duo was happy that it was them that made Mine smile. It was an achievement at their part.  "You're pretty, do you know that?" Sarah blurts out suddenly, making Mine self-conscious.  Mine also knows that it must be because she's an offspring of deities that's why they said that, but she still felt self-conscious. In Olympus, everyone was beautiful, pretty and handsome, and sexy. Some were more beautiful than the other and that's what Mine has to deal with everyday, someone is more beautiful than her in Olympus but in the human world, she was one of the prettiest.  "Flirting, eh?" Earl teases. Sarah ignored his comment and decided to explain further what they meant earlier.  "I've never seen Rafaela so frantic before. I don't know if she's taken a liking to August as a woman or as a friend. All I can say is that August successfully captured her attention."  Earl takes another bite of his lunch and nods.  "I think August is good for her." Earl says with his mouth full of food. Mine giggled again.  Mine kept comparing the human world to Olympus. In Olympus, everyone was shameless, meaning walking naked is fine and f*****g senseless is fine too, announce it too and you'll be wanted more. But even though the deities were shameless, they were still elegant. Mine realized after living in the human world for a few weeks that she's taken a liking to humans. Bickering on light matters, being savage and being rough was okay too, but a limit was present too.  Mine realized also that she met nice people, that's why can't stop supporting The Prince with his chosen human.  "Chew it goddamn well, okay?"  Mine felt that she should tell them who they really are. Mine trusts them well.  But what if they won't believe me?  "All I'm saying is that Rafaela's in good hands." Earl defended his action.  "Guys, I think I need to tell you something."  Mine turned serious, catching Earl and Sarah's attention instantly.  "What is it?"  "Why so serious?"  Mine inhales and exhales softly.  "We're deities."  Sarah and Earl stopped functioning for a second.  "What?" Sarah asks and Earl starts laughing. Mine pouted, stopping Earl from laughing.  "I'm Athena's daughter." Mine further explains.  "You're joking?" Earl asks.  "No,"  "Before I say something or do something offensive," Sarah leers at Earl, making Earl embarrass for laughing too early, "can you prove it to us?" Sarah asks softly and Mine nods.  They left their unfinished lunch and went to the place they went first. At the cliff where mountains are visible and where it was cold. The trio saw that there were no one else so it was a good time, but it was cold too.  "What are we going here?" Earl asks, already shivering from the cold.  Mine edged to the cliff. The two were behind her, shivering. Mine closed her eyes and in slow motion, her wings slowly emerged from her back. Earl and Sarah's eyes immediately widened, their shivering now gone. Mine's wings were pure white with tiny spectacles of white glitter scattering everywhere. Mine was shining.  Sarah and Earl couldn't believe what they were seeing. The wings were beautiful and really pure, and big. Mine turned to them and saw how they were so shocked.  "You wanted proof, I'm giving you proof." Mine breathes out, her icy breath evident.  "f*****g WHAT?"  "What the..." the two still couldn't believe.  "You can touch them if you want, if you still can't believe it." Mine was all cool about it but inside she was screaming.  Mine couldn't believe how she was so okay with them seeing. Mine couldn't believe that she was already so close with these two, to trust them both with a secret that she thought she would never tell anyone. Telling these two the thing that she thought she wouldn't.  "Goodness gracious." Sarah exclaims and steps closer to touch the wings.  As soon as Sarah's hand touched Mine's wings, Sarah fell in love instantly. It was so soft that Sarah couldn't compare her teddy bear to Mine's wings. It was fluffy and clean. Sarah hugged one wing while Earl took his time with the other wing.  "Is this for real?" Earl touched the wing and brushed his fingers through one feather to another.  "I can fly you around if you want."  "Wait, wait, wait. You're a goddess?" Sarah got a hold of herself and decided to further ask for explanations.  "Yes,"  "Athena's daughter?"  Earl was still busy with the wing that he didn't have time listening to their conversation.  "I thought gods and goddesses don't have wings?"  "We offspring have them."  "You're Athena's daughter. So who's August? Wow, our Greek Mythology class is lagging behind." the truth was slowly sinking in her mind while Earl was immersed in his own world. Sarah looks at Earl's vulnerable state and decided to ignore him again.  "August," Mine paused for a bit, making Earl finally snap out of his world and listen, "August isn't in your books or stories."  Sarah was confused.  "We didn't know you either. We just know that they have offspring and the father wasn't also mentioned." Earl answers.  "Yes, but August isn't really."  "What do you mean?" Sarah asks.  "August is an unknown." "Unknown? What do you mean unknown?" Earl was even more curious.  What could be more cool than being a god or goddess? Earl thought to himself.  "August has no definite gender and August has all of our abilities."  "SHE CAN COPY THEM ALL?" Earl exclaimed.  "Holy s**t. That's, wow." Sarah gasps and looks around, still in a state of shock.  "I know. That's why she or he is so treasured in Olympus."  "But you still haven't answered who are her parents."  "August is the Prince of Olympus. A child of Zeus." "I don't know about you guys but I think she has it all!" Earl exclaims again, getting more and more excited about everything.  "This feels so unreal."  Sarah facepalms and inhales, but instantly regretted it. The cold air felt painful to her lungs.  "Can I retract my wings now? Someone else might see." Earl and Sarah nodded, still out of themselves.  "Alright."  Mine retracts her wings while the two stares in awe.  "So Zeus really is the King of Olympus."  "That's right, Sarah."  "Does August also have wings?" Earl couldn't help but ask.  "Her wings are different than ours. Hers is the only different one in our history."  "What do you mean?"  "August's wings are gold." Mine smiles, remembering how beautiful August's wings were and how more magical it looked.  "The offspring only has wings, so Poseidon doesn't have wings and that she only has golden wings. That must mean because she's of royalty?" Earl asks.  "That's right."  "This is awesome. I'm friend with Athena's daughter!" Earl exclaims again.  "Can we move somewhere else?" Sarah shivers again.  "Yes,"  The three of them decided to skip afternoon classes. Earl and Sarah were more curious about Mine and August that the they can't focus in class. The three of them went to Sarah's place, which was a bit far from school. Once they were settled, the questions started coming.  "What are you doing here in the human world? Man, I still can't believe I'm saying things like this." Earl shakes his head in disbelief.  "His Highness is searching for love."  "And she found Rafaela?" Sarah asks, getting the hint.  "Yes,"  "What a lucky girl. The Prince of Olympus, after her ass. God, that's so dope."  "Gods," Mine corrected him.  "Oh, sorry. It's still weird."  "You'll adjust to it soon." Mine smiles.  "You know what? I think I will." Earl grins.  "You might think that August is all that, but really, she's suffering inside."  "What do you mean?" Sarah asks.  Mine remembers how she saw how pained August the day August went for their date. "Remember when you always complimented our looks?"  "Yes?" Sarah answers, still confused.  "Humans are easily attracted to gods and goddesses. The reason why Rafaela might be easily bewitched must be because August is a deity. When I hear you guys complimenting our looks, I always think about how it's because I'm a goddess. I think that's what goes on in August's head too."  There was silence in the room. The ambience suddenly turned sad and gloomy.  "I don't think so." Earl answers confidently.  "I agree with him."  Mine looks at them both, at how they're smiling so confidently.  "Rafaela isn't the type to get swayed easily. I see how she looks at August. It should've been like ours, admiration or even amazed, but it isn't." Sarah voices out what she saw.  "Yeah. Rafaela has her beliefs that we can't even sway, like how delicious a burger is." Earl adds.  "What's a burger?" Sarah and Earl smiles.  "We'll bring you both to burger joints the next time we're complete." Sarah pats Mine's shoulder.  "I'd like that."  "So, August is in Olympus right now?" Mine nods at Earl's question.  "What's she doing there?" Sarah asks.  "I don't know."  "Ah, so she didn't tell you." Mine shakes her head.  "Hey, is Pharsa a goddess too?"  Mine wasn't sure how to answer that question.  "Uhm,"  The question was on hold and at the evening, when it was almost late, the trio went to Mine's humble abode. They knocked happily on Pharsa's door, not knowing what they're getting themselves into. Pharsa, in an annoyed state, opened the door, which revealed two excited dorks.  Pharsa looks behind the two and saw how guilty Mine was. Pharsa immediately understood and sighs.  "You told them?"  "Sorry," Mine fidgets with her fingers.  Pharsa couldn't handle how the two of them were so close so she teleported to the sofa and crossed her legs.  "WOAH." Earl and Sarah exclaims and sat down too. Pharsa sighs.  "So? What do you want?"  "They want to see your wings."  "We want to know who you are!"  "I want to see yours!"  The both of them giggled like children, which Pharsa couldn't help but abide to their childish wishes. Pharsa's wings instantly unfolds, revealing black and white wings. The two of them gasps in admiration at Pharsa's wings.  "Aren't you scared of the black wing?" Pharsa asks, curious.  "What? It's cool!" Sarah exclaims.  Pharsa stands up, spread her killing aura but the two were still unfazed, making Pharsa guilt. She wondered if she did display her killing aura. She looks at Mine who was already cowering in fear. It was just the two were idiots.  "I'm the daughter of Hades. You scared?"  "Wait, no. that's so cool. Can I talk to my dead Uncle?" Earl asks, not displaying a bit of fear, which was new to Pharsa.  Pharsa immediately softened. She has never had anyone be so cool about her being Hades' daughter, except for August. Pharsa immediately sat back down and cleared her throat.  "No,"  "Oh, come on." Earl clasps his hands together and bowed to Pharsa. "Just wait a few days until August is back." Pharsa answers.  "Wait, she'll be back?" Mine's interest suddenly perked up, happy at that information.  "I doubt Hercules will say anything to the others." "Hercules is real too?" Sarah exclaims.  "Yes, and he was here. Now he's back in Olympus, probably talking to August."  Suddenly, Pharsa finds these humans fearless and kind. Her hostility towards them suddenly dropped to the ground. She felt comfortable with them. Pharsa realizes that this must be why Mine told them in the first place.  On the other hand, Rafaela was having a hard time. Almost two weeks have passed and August still isn't back. She went to the Principal's Office for information but the Principal was hypnotized by Mine already. The Principal kept on telling Rafaela the same thing, over and over again.  Rafaela went home that day, hurting, perplexed and troubled. All August left her was her phone that Rafaela had done modifying. The system was perfect, and Rafaela would sometimes stare at the empty gallery, which they promised to fill with even just one picture of them both.  Rafaela's father knocks on Rafaela's door.  "Honey? Dinner's ready." Rafael Wilson slowly opens the door as he talks.  "I'm not hungry."  Rafaela takes a seat on the edge of Rafaela's bed. Rafaela took refuge under her covers. Rafael pats Rafaela's ankle, trying to reassure her that everything will be fine.  "She'll be back."  "How do you know that?"  "I know because I saw how she was determined to get back."  "And how do you also know that?"  "I could see how August looks at you."  "How does she look at me?"  "I think you know."  "..." Rafaela remembered their kiss at the end of their date.  Rafaela wants to asks what the kiss meant, what Rafaela meant to August. Rafaela's feeling confused. It wasn't that Rafaela doesn't like someone easily, it's just that no one actually tries to cross the boundary and now that someone finally crossed the boundary, with the thought of them breaking their friendship, Rafaela finally found someone she can fully give her heart to.  But that won't happen unless August tells Rafaela everything. Starting from August's date of birth to how she ended up in their small town.  "Come down, let's eat." Rafael gets out of Rafaela's room and closes the door.  Rafael knows his daughter won't come down, but Rafael still smiles, feeling somewhat achieved.  "I'm not going to let her make me her girlfriend so easily."  The next day, Rafaela was done waiting. She stalked Mine and found out how the four, Pharsa, Earl, Mine and Sarah, of them were hanging out. Rafaela waited for an opportunity and finally found one. When school ended, Rafaela sneaks behind Mine and was ready to jump but she was immediately dragged away from her prey.  "Hey-" it was Austin and his identical smile with August. Rafaela can't do anything and calm down.  It's like I'm seeing August.  "What are you doing?"  The students were turning their heads at the handsome Austin. The whispers were loud that Austin could hear them well.  "Ah, nothing."  Austin looks at Mine's back and smiles.  "I thought you were after that girl over there?" Rafaela snaps out of her thoughts.  "Ah, no, no. I just wanted to give her a scare, is all." "Got it. You doing anything?" Rafaela shakes her head, completely fallen over Austin's raspy voice.  "Nothing. Just going home."  "Shall I accompany you home?"  "That's all? You came all the way here to accompany me home?" Austin gives out a manly chortle and smiles.  "I can't? I've missed you. I haven't seen you in town lately."  "And how do you know I study here? You stalking me or what?"  Austin grabs Rafaela's beige bag and placed it on his shoulder and started walking backwards. "What if I am?"  "Obviously you aren't. You're going the wrong way."  Austin laughs and nods.  "Lead the way."
