10: A strange pull

Ria's POV. That's true, I hadn't paid much attention to the fact that he did shut the gate earlier or perhaps, I wasn't all that concerned but Vivian who wouldn't leave the door was right. Why exactly did he ask that the gate should be closed because as long as my memory could serve me, he did so after saying that he found me. There was still over a million and one questions that I had for him and should in case I get the chance to do so, then I'll ask. I mean, shutting the gates meant allowing no one in. What if there were more people that would like to join the competition? What if the winner had been locked outside? Spare me the long talks of me having the chance to be the winner because he'd proclaimed or asked me to be his Luna a while ago. I wasn't going to do that. If anything, Matthew had told me that I'd to fail else he'll come after me. So no one opinion really mattered. I was going to do everything in my power to see that I failed the competition and after that, leave with the information that I've gotten whether it was exactly what we want or not. Staying here for another minute would just be as accepting my fate here, and I didn't want that. Stealing one more glance at the door, I realized that Vivian hadn't left yet, I really didn't know she was this much of a talker. Perhaps, it was because I encountered her other side a while ago. However, I couldn't bask in the goodness of that moment without choosing to do anything for myself, so to alert Mathew of the situation and to see if he had an idea of escaping Zade's claws, I retrieved my phone and as I dialed him, I kept stealing glances at the door to be certain that there was still having their little chitchat while I did my thing. Buried in my thoughts, I didn't realize that the room became silent for a moment. I was just focused on getting through to Matthew. As the line connected, and I open my mouth to speak, I heard the sound of footsteps approaching and immediately, I ended the call and returned my phone into my pocket. Swerving my body I turned to face him with a smile on my lips. But then, he returned the stare with a suspicious one which made my skin crawl with thoughts that he might have found out what I was doing. Nonetheless, I didn't allow my face to crack with a hint of panic, instead, I kept a straight face as I stated at him. “That was easier than I expected.” I said, with a shrug of my shoulder. “How were you able to deceive her so easily?” “Well, Vivian is one I've known to be too clingy.” he said, on pinching his fingers together as he shuffled a step towards me. “And I wouldn't call that deceiving her. There was no reason for her to come in. Like I said, I love my privacy and no one is going to take that from me.” “It seems you're wrong on that one.” I said, with a look of seriousness masking my face. “If you really love your privacy like you've said, then I shouldn't be here in the first place, or don't you think so?” As the words fell upon his ears, a smile pushed his lips to the side. Of course, it was funny to him, but I needed to find a way to set myself free from him. Moreover, he wouldn't stop drawing close to me and I feared that with each step he took, I might be sucked into the allure of his mystery because my wolf seemed to be in support of it. “Of course I don't.” he said, shaking his head as he spoke the words. “It is different with you so you aren't in any way intruding my privacy. However, in sharp contrast to that. If anything, I'm drawn to you.” “Of course you are.” — my wolf purred, with an excited catch. “No, you're not!” — the words leapt out of my mouth almost on their own accord. “I mean, it could have just been an unidentified feeling.” My voice softened a bit as I tossed my head down and bit my bottom lip. I didn't know why my wolf was doing this to me, but it was too much of an embarrassment for me to take. However, thinking that he would perhaps shoot another suspicious glance at me because I knew that I was behaving weird, instead a smile ran around his lips. “This is exactly why I'm drawn to you.” he said, taking the first, second and third step towards me. At the third step, he paused because he'd already come this close to me, leaving little or no distance between us. Staring at me, he lifted a hand and swept the flicking hair out of my eyes. At his touch, it felt like every single muscle in my body was on fire. However, he didn't stop there, he went on to touch my face and slowly traced his fingers over my features and after that, he pressed his lips on my forehead as if to put a stamp on everything he'd done so far. I felt myself getting drawn into the allure of the unknown and I knew what could happen if I allowed it that way. So, to avoid that, I lifted my hand to push him away but seems like he noticed it and as I lifted my hand, he caught both and pinned them to the wall, leaving me almost vulnerable to the lust in his eyes and the desires of his heart. I felt his eyes searching my face and finally coming to a pause as it dwelt on my lips. As I thought of the worst case scenario, before long, those thoughts were converted to a reality as I felt his lips on mine. Slowly, he trailed kisses down my neck down to my collarbone. As he did, I felt his hand move around my waist, and before I could register what was happening, he'd lifted and dropped me on the bed, causing me to land so hard on my back. Breathing heavily while I lay on the bed, squeezing the sheets like a woman in labor, I glanced at him as he approached me, loosening his belt and taking off his pants. As he did, he crawled up to the bed and then spread my legs out wide, sliding his hands up my thighs. I gasped as I felt his touch and again, my wolf purred. “Mate!”
