Chapter 12
The leader up above adjusted his suit. “Now, let the game begins.”
Daniel looked at Dontrell. They were all depending on his command.
Dontrell inhaled at let out a deep breath. He roamed around his eyes. From his point of view, he could clearly see every one even from the other team because he and Madison were in an elevated seat compared to the other people. Compared to his teammates, he was the one who needs to be protected and his moves was just limited but he had the command. He had the greatest responsibility among all of them. It was the same to the king on the other side.
He observed the other team’s king. He looked very confident. He must be a good player of chess.
Dontrell heaved another air and shook his body to release the tension.
He was on the red team so it was his cue to command his team first. There was no timer around the area. He could take his time. There were an indicator on each side of the board. Numbers on the vertical side and letters on the horizontal side.
“Pawn E2 to E4,” Dontrell commanded. He was commanding Liam. Liam walked two steps forward. He was holding his pike up and tightly. He was readying if a member from the other team attacked him. Despite of being the first one to move, he did not show any fear. He commanded it in order to open a path for the Madison, the queen, and to a knight, whom he did not know the name, that still moves like a bishop.
The king from the other team scorned. He already knew that moved. It was the most common opening in chess games. “Pawn E7 to E5,” the opposing king countered. It was the same move that Dontrell did. Opening the path for the queen and the knight that moved like bishop.
Liam was now face to face with another contender from another team. Both of team were holding their pikes tightly. Waiting for one another to strike an attack.
In order to eliminate the pawn in E5, “Knight G1 to G3,” Dontrell commanded.
The Black king’s forehead wrinkled. In order to eliminate the knight from G3, if ever it would attack the pawn in E5, “Knight B2 to C6.”
Dontrell looked at the knight beside him, “Bishop F1 to C4,” he commanded. He was now targeting the pawn on F7 because it was considered the weakest point for the black team because there were not any officials that could protect it.
The Black King smirked. “Bishop F8 to C5,” the black king commanded. Just like Dontrell, he was also trying to target the weakest pawn of the white team, the F2.
Dontrell heaved a deep breath. He need to sacrifice someone to avert the Black King’s bishop to other pieces and not to the F2.
“Pawn B2 to B4.”
The man who was the Pawn B2 looked at Dontrell if he would move to B4 then the bishop from C5 would do something to him.
“Go,” Dontrell commanded. The man from B2 was shaking as he moved two steps forward. He was holding his pike tightly. He was already on his fighting stance.
