Morning Routine
Silence
That is the sound of the room.
Empty
That is the look of the room.
LONELY
That is the feel of the room.
There stood no one in this silent, empty, and lonely room. As I realize how lonely I am in the room, the walls start to get closer, closer, and closer. UntilâŠ
BEEP BEEP
I wake up to the sound of an alarm clock, filling the bedroom with the noise of high-pitched bees. Then I arose from my grave, looking at the time. It was 7:15 AM. I MISSED THE BUS! I ran through the house so fast, I thought I was speedy gonzales. While gathering all my school supplies, I think, âWhy, why on my first day of high school?â
Once I finally gather all my school supplies and get halfway to school, I realize itâs 6:30 AM. The bus gets to my house at 7:00 AM. Apparently I got 6:15 AM mixed up with 7:15 AM. And keep in mind that I walked halfway to school already, so there is no point in walking back.
Eventually, I make it to school and have to wait till school opens. But while I was waiting in front of the school, I spotted something in the corner of my eye. Itâs another kid. I looked over at the kid and it was a girl who looked to be my age, sitting on the opposite bench.I donât remember her from last year, but I jerked my head back, hoping she wouldnât notice. Then I overheard her on the phone saying âI thought I missed the bus but apparently I got 6:15 AM mixed up with 7:15 AM. And so I was halfway to school and I thought there was no point in walking back.â
Anyway, after a rough but strange morning, I found my homeroom class. The tardy bell rings and we do the pledge of allegiance. Then I headed for my first block class, Mr. Henryâs science. Everyone in my class I know but one. The girl from this morning. Later I find out her name is Rosemarie McAllister.
The rest of the day was normal, until my 4th block class, Mrs. Henryâs math. Apparently, Mrs. Henry is Mr. Henryâs misses. I have never heard of a couple working at the same school, in the same grade. Give me one couple you know that does that.
