Chapter One: Old Abe the Beggar
What kind of life do you live? Are you a generous person? Do you give freely to your friends and neighbors? What would your associates say about you or your character? Would your allies question perception of you if they learned you 100% through? Would your enemies discover common ground with you as secrets arise? Do you even have any secrets? Do you think everyone has deep dark secrets or just you or a fraction of humanity?
Do you think beings of divinity worry themselves with such matters of the mundane? What if we discovered that our trivial matters were of the utmost importance to the Gods and Anti-Gods? Would you have reason to worry about the state of your eternal soul? Would you be confident in your faith and conviction that you will be welcomed into the grace of Heaven?
Let us together explore the possibilities and implications of a day in the mind of God. Or rather a day in the mind of a God that doesn't know he is a God. Would or could he lower himself to begging and stealing for food to survive? Would he know that he had the power to change his circumstances? If he did know would he employ this power to help himself? To help others in similar or worse situations?
What if you passed this very beggar on your way home one day? If he asked you to spare some change would you? Would you remember him and bring him a meal or a blanket on your next commute passed him?
Would you know that it was God's hands outstretched for a freebie? Would you only help knowing it was God expecting a reward for your kindness? Would you help being ignorant to the identity of the unfortunate soul in need?
I wonder when you give help or offer wisdom, do you do so sincerely from the compassion in your heart? Do you reminisce on past good deeds and feel joy from simply having done good, or do you perhaps feel that the universe should reward you in some karmic way? Maybe you give help to others because of a sense of moral obligation or to feel you are worthy of God's love or praise?
Do you give help or advice at all? Are you calloused by your own misfortune to the point that you believe no one is deserving of help or second chances? Have you been blessed with a silver spoon having a life of ease? With such an easy life would you even notice the misfortunes of others? Is your life one of labor and servitude working and wearing down your body to make ends meet? Has that opened your eyes more so to the meek of the world?
Can you remember a time when you were in a low point and needed help or guidance? Did you ask for help or not? Did anyone give you the help you needed or did everyone ignore you or turn their nose up at you in disgust? Can you calculate the cost of a free meal? Can you pay for a free meal? Would the meal you will give to the beggar be of equal value to the ones you have been given? Would the beggar agree that the meal you've given him is worth the cost of entry to the castle in the clouds?
Further still perhaps there are angels watching and documenting the details of these interactions. Have they been instructed to observe the beggar for a particular reason? Are they to report their findings back to the Almighty for later delegation? Is this because God is absent of himself either by his own doing for first hand learning of humanity? Is he not himself because of some influence other than his own?
Is it possible that a Godly being can be at the whims or mercy of another entity? Of a mortal? Of a Devil or demon possibly? Could the angels themselves that were created by and eternally loyal to the Omega, be responsible for bringing such a being to the fragile conditions of a man? What reason would drive them to such an act? Or what could be so powerful to have advantage over a God? What then could an angel or even a multitude of angels do to neutralize such a threat or to restore their maker?
Do you suppose maybe you crossed paths with this Deity in disguise for a reason? Are you the only one that sees these winged watchers looking at you and the beggar? Why do the other passerbys around just carry on like normal? Are you dreaming right now and unable to wake up for some reason? It can't be a dream. You have passed this beger many times before in the past. You've given him money, food clean clothes a few times. You even know his name. It's Abe you recall vividly in your mind.
Returning to your attention is the lingering watchers and the question of if they are real or simply a hallucination. Just then the sound of a raspy voice called out from the old man, "You see them too don't you? winged men that sound like machines or scraping stones when they speak and move. What do they want?" the beger inquires with hope and confusion.
As you turn your attention back to Abe you kneel down beside him placing a hand on his shoulder you look in his eyes. "Abe my friend, I do see them. I have no idea who or what they are though." Pulling a cigarette from your inner coat pocket, light it and put it to Abe's lips as you continue, "But I will do what I can to find out for you."
Just then something catches his eye and you hear a flutter as you both quickly glance up to see one of the winged beings flare up bright white in a blinding light and shoot directly up into the sky with a deafening explosion of crackling lightning and disappear in an instant. What could this mean? You stand and gather your emotions in preparation for what may be ahead...
