35 ROMI “Hey.” Aaron was standing on the far side of the terrace, looking toward the ocean. Davis had done his part, but now it was up to me. And I was so freaking nervous. My palms were sweating, and the weight of a thousand bad decisions tugged at my heels as I walked toward the man I loved. When he turned, the soft glow of fairy lights left his face half-hidden in shadow, and I couldn’t read him. Did we stand a chance? “Why didn’t you tell me?” he whispered. “It wasn’t my story to tell.
