Chapter 18

1003 Words
Kyra POV I could feel burning all along my sides and in the center of my abdomen, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't open my eyes. It was like the darkness I felt pressing on me was holding them shut. I couldn't feel my wolf, only the pain. My head was pounding and it felt like someone had their hand inside me, rearranging my organs. I felt myself jerk at the pain, but it was like I was detached from my body. I could feel everything, but I could control nothing. Ethan POV They had Kyra open wide on the table, moving her orans around so they could fix a part of her spine they couldn't reach from the back and so they could fix her ribs. They were practically shattered and the doctors were currently fishing the bone out of her. They had given her a s**t tone of drugs to keep her out and had her strapped to the damn table, but her body kept jerking every now and then. "Can she feel what you are doing in there?" I finally asked one of the doctors. "Umm..Yes, Alpha, that is possible." They said meekly. I growled but didn't dare stop them. They were saving her. Kyra POV I could still feel something happening to me, the pain getting stronger, when a bright silver light appeared in front of me.  Not liking the dark, the pain, and being disconnected with my wolf, I figured I see if going towards it helped. And it did. The pain lessened and I was starting to see a medow with wolves running around with men and women, even some kids.  Once I stepped through the light, I couldn't feel any more pain at all, but my wolf was nolonger inside my head. She was a physical being standing next to me. She seemed upset. I asked her, watching as my words came out as purple smoke, drifing through the air. "What is the matter?" "We have died and left our mates behind, Kyra. We failed them, but atleast we died honorably in battle." I gasped, no! I would never leave my mates behind, even if I hated them sometimes, they were still my mates. I ran back through the darkness, embracing the pain that came with it with open arms.  Ethan POV When the had finished working with the part of Kyra's spine that had been slightly damaged, her heart monitor started going crazy fast. They rushed around getting things ready to either recessitate her or take her heart rate down. But before they could take action, she flat lined. All I could do was stare at the machine. I was vagely aware of everyone around me, but all I could focus on was the machine. The red line that wasn't moving. The loud, endless, beeping sound that never paused to signal a heart beat. A pain formed in my chest, making me run to her bed and grip her hand as I fell to my knees. My wolf was howling and trying to connect with her wolf, Koda. "Kyra, baby, please come back. I swear I will be better in any way I can. I promise, please, please, please, come back." I whispered to her, begging, with my eyes closed, tears falling down my face.  And a moment later, the machine paused. I looked up, thinking someone had pulled the plug on it. The red line had a single arch. And then a second beep to match the second arch. My mate was alive. Aiden POV These f*****g rouges stunk. They smelled like hot trash and death. Currently, I was locked in a dark room, my hands bound by silver chains. But, they were curdeous enough to leave a small leather strip on the inside to protect my wrist. There weren't any windows and the floor was wet. Whether or not it was blood or water, I had no clue, but I definitly did not want to find out. I just wanted to see if my mate was okay.  I could feel she was in pain and I could feel my brother's anger, anxiety, and sadness.  The room was like a solid concrete block and my chains weren't long enough for me to get a feel of the place, muchless look for the door.  The silver was affecting my wolf. He had to stay far back and pull himself from me to keep us both safe, so my night vision was poor. I leaned my head against the wall, closing my eyes. I was almost asleep when I felt a pain in my chest. My wolf howled.  What the hell? What is going on? I tried asking, but he couldn't talk to me becasue he had to keep his distance. I got angry and started pestering him, not leaving a moments peace when he risked it. The pain of the silver came at me like a damn simi-truck. Mate is dead. And he was gone again. Kyra, dead? No, couldn't be. I refuese to belive it. But deep down I knew it was true. She had faught well and her pack would be proud, I guess.  Maybe I will just let the rouges kill me without putting up a fight. I thought to myself. The darkness of the room seemed fitting at this moment. Then the door opened. I only say that because I coudl see a large square of bright light that was accompanied by a shrill of squeaking metal.  And then my wolf ran back as the pain in my chest faded. MATE IS ALIVE! MATE IS ALIVE!  He chanted in my head, running in circles while occasionally stopping to howl out in joy.  If she is alive, then I will fight to get to her. I will do any and everything to get back to Kyra. And when I do get back to her, I will make things right with her and put my mark on her neck.
