Chapter 4: First Day of Work

"Usually, when you have a new job. You are excited to come in, but as time goes on, if you don't like your Boss, you suddenly think of resigning."

-SAVANNAH ZEN POV-

I would have been excited to get into my work today. But how do I deal with Luke? So embarrassing!

I arrived at the office early, and I went straight to the HR Department. At 8 in the morning, the personnel officer arrived. She took me around all the departments and introduced me to all the employees.

After she introduced me to everyone, she took me to the CEO’s office.

"Good morning, Sir Luke. She is Savannah Zen Miller, your..." the Personnel Officer formally introduced me to Luke, but Luke interrupted her.

"I knew her because I was the one who interviewed her. So you can leave now." Luke replied coldly.

"Okay, Sir! I am sorry." The Personnel Officer replied and bowed her head, and left. When the Personnel Officer left. I spoke.

"Wow! Luke, Why did you act like you were the Boss?" I asked him with a frown.

"Why Pinky? Am I not fit to be the Boss?" He asked me with a raised eyebrow and laughed.

"Shut up! I am Savannah, not Pinky!" then I glared at him. The fool reminded me again of what happened last night. Annoying!

"Sorry! But I did not sleep last night because I could see you even though I closed my eyes. Hahaha!" He laughed out loud. I know Luke annoys me. So I just ignored him.

"Why are you silent? By the way, This is what Brylle left me earlier. Transfer this one to the computer for a softcopy." Luke instructed me to encode the documents he was holding.

"Okay, Sir Luke!" I replied sarcastically and rolled my eyes.

A few hours later, Sir Brylle still had not arrived. And Luke, on the other hand, is busy playing. So I asked him.

"Luke, if you are Sir Brylle's bodyguard, why are you here? You should be with him always." I told him as I stretched my arms.

"What do you care, Pinky? Mind your own business!" He replied fiercely. I was surprised because he suddenly got angry so I just stopped talking.

"Okay! Sorry!" I replied and continued working.

At lunch break, Luke spoke.

"It's lunchtime. You can go out." He said in a cold voice.

"I will only eat here. I don't know anyone here yet. So, I am ashamed." I replied to him and smiled bitterly.

"It is forbidden to eat inside the office. There may be an unexpected visitor to come. We have a canteen here. Why don't you eat there?" He said with a frown. But I did not answer because the truth is, I don't have any money to buy in the canteen. So, I just looked at him.

"Gosh! Savannah! Do not tell me you have no money?" He said and ruffled his hair.

"Hahaha! You are right!" I answered as my cheeks blushed.

"Oh my God! Let's go! If I had not seen you last night wearing pink, I would not have helped you!" He replied and laughed.

"Shut up, Luke! Grrr! You are so rude!" I yelled at him.

I just followed Luke, and I wondered at the other employees because of how badly they looked at me. Maybe they were jealous because I was with Luke.

Honestly, Luke is so handsome his eyes are enticing. He had a pointed nose, he had a cleft chin, and he had fair skin. I know a lot of women love him secretly because he is so coldhearted.

When we were in the parking lot, I asked him.

"Luke, where are we going?" I asked him while I was carrying my lunchbox.

"Don't ask, just follow me! Okay?" He replied with a frown. We were quiet inside his car, but suddenly my stomach growled.

"Are you hungry? Didn't you eat breakfast?" He asked me with a raised eyebrow.

"I was in a hurry earlier, so I just drank milk," I replied while blushing. Why did I tell Luke? It is embarrassing because my stomach still rumbles.

"You are already old, Sav! Why are you still not changing? Your parents are not here to take care of you! If you get sick? Who will take care of you? Next time, if I can still hear the growl of your stomach. You had better resign." Luke said with a fierce look.

"Okay! Sorry, Boss!" I replied to him sarcastically. Luke knew I had a gastric ulcer. When I was in high school, I did homework and projects first before I ate.

Whatever he showed me today, I would not expect any more. Because I knew I had no more space in his heart. All I ask of him is that he will forgive me.

A few minutes later, I was surprised because we stopped at the Mansion.

"Luke, why are we here?" I asked him with excitement. I had not entered the Mansion yet, so I was excited. I just want to see how spacious the interior is, and I also want to see their interior design.

"What do you think?" He replied to me with a bored face.

"Are you mad? I just want to ask whose house this is." I said while pouting.

"If I tell you the truth, you will not believe me. So you'd better keep your mouth shut. Okay?" Then, he messed up my hair and laughed bitterly. So, I just didn't say anything. Maybe this house belonged to Brylle, and he let Luke live here.

As we entered, the woman greeted us. Maybe it was Luke's helper.

"Good noon, Sir Luke! It was a miracle, and you brought a beautiful woman here!" His helper said with a smile.

"She used to be my classmate, Nanny," Luke replied to his Nanny with a smile.

"Okay! You say so!" then she laughed.

"Why Nanny? Do you want her to be my girlfriend?" then he laughed, which made me blush. Why is Luke so kind to his Nanny?

"Yes, because you are already old! And I want you to get married." His Nanny replied seriously. So I was surprised.

"Hahaha! If Pinky will agree, Nanny." Then he laughed.

"Shut up, Luke! By the way, Nanny. I am ..." but Luke interrupted me.

"She is Zen, Nanny!" Luke replied seriously. Suddenly the expression on his face changed. But why did he say Zen was my name? Why not Savannah?

"Okay! Nice meeting you, Zen!" His Nanny replied.

"Nice meeting you too, Nanny! By the way, what is your name, Nanny?" I asked her with the sweetest smile.

"Just call me, Nanny Fel." She replied and smiled at me.

"Let us eat, Pinky!" Luke said while laughing.

"Luke? Why do you call her Pinky?" His Nanny asked him innocently. So I glared at Luke.

"Because her favorite color is Pink." He said and smirked at me.

"Wow, I love pink too." Nanny Fel replied.

The three of us ate together. The food here is so delicious. So I never ate the food I brought. I reserved this one for my dinner later.

"Pinky, where is your lunchbox?" Luke asked me. It took me a long time to answer because my dish was just eggs with tomatoes and dried fish. I am ashamed.

"Huh? Why?" I nervously asked him.

"I will be the one to eat the food you brought. Where is it?" He seriously asked me.

"I am embarrassed because my viand is exotic! Hahaha!" Then we laughed.

"What kind of exotic food? Like frog?" Luke asked me while laughing.

"Yes!" I lied.

"I know, you are lying! Where is it, Pinky!" He asked me with a desperate look.

"Okay! Here!" then I handed my lunchbox to him. Then he opened it.

" Wow! Dried fish! I missed eating this one." He said, and he started eating my food. So I just looked at him. I remember the former Luke.

"I missed him so much!" I whispered and sighed.

"Pinky, why are you staring at me?" Luke asked me, and then he winked at me.

"I thought you were not eating dried fish anymore," I replied and laughed bitterly.

"You know, I am the one who can't forget what I've been through in life." He said seriously, which made me stop eating.

"Do you know Zen? If I see Savannah in person, Luke's ex-girlfriend, I will slap her with Luke's money." Nanny Fel said with an angry look.

I was shocked by what Nanny Fel said, and I looked at Luke. Did Nanny Fel know about Luke and me? I was very nervous.

"Nanny! Just relax, I already forgot Savannah." Luke replied to Nanny Fel, and he looked at me.

"If you forgot about her, why did I see a picture of you two in your room?" Nanny Fel replied, which shocked the two of us. Does Luke still have a picture of me?

"Is she beautiful, Nanny?" Luke asked Nanny Fel while glancing at me.

"How do I know? The picture is black and white, and you two are wearing sunglasses. So, if I see Savannah in person, I do not recognize her." Nanny Fel explained. So, I feel relieved.

"Are you okay, Zen? Why are you sweating?" Nanny Fel asked me.

"Yeah! I am okay." I replied and smiled at her, then wiped away my sweat.

"Pinky, I know you are not! Do not be shy. We have a Restroom there, near the stairs." Luke saved me from his Nanny because I looked like a mess.

"Thank you, Luke," I replied and left.

A few minutes later, I finished grooming myself. So I went out to the Restroom, and I saw Luke outside waiting for me.

"Are you done?" Luke asked me worriedly. I saw it in his eyes.

"Yes! Thank you," I replied and smiled at him.

"Okay! Let's go! We might be late." He said and tapped my shoulder.

When we were in his car.

"Luke, forgive me then. I truly meant to hurt you. For you to stay away from me, but it is not true that I do not love you. I'd love you, and I still regret it until now for leaving you in pain. I will do everything you can just forgive me." I said and wiped away my tears.

"You can not pay for just one cry, the pain I felt that time, Sav! Why did you suddenly change your mind today? Is it because I already have money?" He asked me sarcastically.

"How does a Bodyguard make money, Luke? My Dad was also a bodyguard before, but we were not rich. I apologize to you because you are still very kind to me even though I hurt you then. I hope you forgive me." I said and sighed.

"Okay! I will only forgive you if you stay away from men." He replied seriously.

"Why?" I asked him with disbelief.

"Because I don’t want to see you happy." He replied and laughed bitterly.

"Maybe that is not fair, Luke, because you have a lot of women. Then, I am not allowed to approach men? How long will I stay away from men?" I asked him sincerely.

"Until I die!" He replied coldly.

"So, I am not allowed to get married? Is there no other option?" I asked him with a sad face.

"There is, Let's have a one-night stand." Then he winked at me.

"What?" I asked him in shock.

"Hahaha! Why? Don't you like me?" He seduced me and laughed.

"All right, I'll just stay away from men," I replied and looked away.

"How is your rich boyfriend?" Luke asked with a fierce look.

"I don't have a boyfriend! Okay?" Then I glared at him.

"That's good!" He replied.

"But you still won't succeed for making me miserable because I am only happy with you, so it's okay for me to stay away from men," I said and stuck out my tongue.

"Stop that, Sav! It doesn't suit you! You look like a monkey there!" He said and sighed.

"Really? Hahaha!" I replied and laughed.

"Do you still love me, Sav?" He seriously asked me. He looked at me as if he meant something.

How do I answer Luke? If I tell the truth about how I feel, he might just laugh at me, or he might not want to believe me. What should I answer to him?

"Lord, Help me!" I whispered and sighed.
