"Life is like an elevator. On your way up, sometimes you have to stop and let some people off."
-AUSTIN LUKE POV-
I'm currently on a business trip with Brylle's secretary. However, I instructed Brylle to inform Savannah that I was on vacation with my girlfriend. I'm just curious if she'll be jealous.
When I called Brylle to see if Savannah was looking for me, he told me "NO". As a result, I was disgusted. I'd like to go home and speak with her. As I was on my way home, I decided to go straight to her apartment.
I knocked on the door when I arrived, but she did not open it. So I just left, and maybe she's sleeping.
-THE NEXT DAY-
I didn't come in because I had a meeting with our new client. But when 6 p.m. rolled around, I decided to go through my office first.
I was surprised to see Savannah when I entered the elevator.
"Hey, Sav! Why are you still here?" I asked her with disbelief.
"I returned because I had left my cellphone in Sir Brylle's office." She responded coldly. I'm not sure why Savannah turned cold on me.
"Is that so? How are you? Why didn't you open me the night before?" While staring at her, I asked her.
"Don't bother asking. I'm fine." She replied.
"Do we have a problem, Sav?" I asked her directly.
"Nothing!" She replied briefly.
"Okay! Why didn't you call me yesterday?" I asked her sincerely.
"Call you? Hahaha! Funny, Luke!" She said and glared at me.
"Why? Will your wealthy boyfriend become enraged?" I asked her with an angry voice.
"For your convenience! I called you, but your girlfriend picked up!" she said and rolled her eyes.
"What? I had no idea you had called." I explained to her.
"But why did Jane keep it a secret from me that Sav called me?" I asked myself.
"Ask your girlfriend!" She replied.
"But why did you call in the first place? Do you miss me?" I told her and smiled.
"In your dreams, Luke! By the way, someone had entered Sir Brylle's office, so I called you. Fortunately, I hid beneath the table. If Sir Brylle hadn't arrived, the man might have hurt me." Savannah explained.
But why is it so? Brylle didn't tell me anything about this? Is Brylle planning something?
"Sorry Sav, I had an important appointment yesterday, but what time did you get home?" I asked her.
" 9 p.m." She replied.
"What? Did you work overtime?" I asked her with disbelief.
"Yes! Because I'm just about to finish something." She replied without emotion.
"Overtime? Isn't it against the rules to work overtime in our office?" I informed her.
"Okay! Sorry!" then she glared at me.
"Are you jealous? Why is your head so hot?" I teased her.
"Why should I be jealous? I don't have rights anyway!" She replied. We were both taken aback when the elevator abruptly came to a halt.
"Luke?" Savannah called me.
"Yes?" I replied to her.
"What's wrong with the elevator?" Savannah asked me.
"Wait a minute, I'll call the operator," I replied while busy scrolling my contacts.
"Luke, could you please turn on your cellphone flashlight? I'm scared." Sav begged. I know Savannah will be scared in the dark. The light on her apartment is always on, even when she sleeps.
"Yes, Madam!" then I winked at her.
And the elevator operator contacted me.
"Yes! What happened? When is it going to be fixed?" I asked the operator.
"Don't worry, Sir; we'll do everything we can to get the elevator fixed as soon as possible." The operator replied.
"Okay!" then I hung up my phone.
"Why are you scared, Sav? I'm right here with you." then I hold her hands.
"Luke, you already have a girlfriend. So keep your distance from me." Savannah took a deep breath.
"Is it wrong for me to take care of you even though I already have a girlfriend?" I asked her. I'm not sure if she was acting or if what she showed was true.
"Yes, because I don't want to fall in love with you again. I don't want to cause harm to others. I don't want to look bad in the eyes of others. I want to live normally." Then she cried.
"Sorry about that! But you won't be able to stop me if I take care of you. I loved you back then, and I don't want anyone else to hurt you." Then, I hugged her.
"Luke, please..." I wiped away her tears because I felt sorry for her. And I'm not sure why I unexpectedly kissed her on the lips. Something simply compelled me to do so.
"Luke?" She was shocked when she spoke my name, and her eyes widened.
But why does the pain and agony she used to cause me will disappear every time I kiss her?
And we were taken aback when the elevator unexpectedly opened. So the operator turned away, and Savannah blushed in embarrassment.
"Thank you, guys!" Savannah said as she dashed to our office.
When we were in the office, she looked at me angrily.
"Hey! Luke! Why did you kiss me?" She asked me with a fierce look.
"You enjoy it as well, don't you?" I teased her.
"I hate you! Exploitative!" then she rolled her eyes.
"Hahaha! Let's go! I'm going to treat you to dinner." I suggested. I'm not sure why I feel this way. Even though she used to hurt me, but why am I happy with her?
"I do not want! I'm only going to eat at home." She replied.
"So there you have it! Let's just go to the restaurant and order some food." Then I held her hands.
"Luke, please let go of my hands," Savannah said as she held out her hands.
"You haven't changed, Sav. You keep embarrassing me in front of a large number of people." I told her and sighed.
"Why? Am I your girlfriend? So, we can walk hand in hand? What if your girlfriend notices us?" Savannah replied with a frown.
"Why Sav? Do you want us to rekindle our relationship?" I teased her.
"Come on, Luke!" She said, and his cheek blushed.
"Answer me first." While pouting, I told her.
"This is not the right time for the two of us, Luke. So let's go because I'm starving." She said this as she walked towards the door.
"Yes, Madam!" I responded, but Savannah collapsed unexpectedly; fortunately, I caught her.
"What's wrong?" I asked her a little nervously.
"I was just trying that if I fell for you, you'd catch me for real." then she winked at me.
I shuddered at what Savannah was doing.
I'm happy right now, and I don't want to ruin it. Next time, I'll plan my vengeance against Savannah. But, hopefully, I will not regret my decision at that moment.
