Attarah didn't hang around the halls, instead, she marched back to her room, what was happening to her? She wasn't sure but she felt so much anger that she worried she'd explode.
As she finally entered her room she walked straight to her window, her hand placing against the glass as she looked beyond the cloistered panes. The castle was metaphoric for her life, hidden yet loved and a temple for anger whilst seeming so enchanting.
"Why did you run?"
"I couldn't stay there" she responded, aware of Caius loitering in the doorway behind her. She longed for the feel of snowflakes on her skin or even an incessant heat. She wished to look up at the sky and taste the sweet rain that fell from the heavens but she could do none o that here.
"Tell me what you desire and we'll ensure you receive it"
"I want to be the thing you need me to be but I don't know how" she informed, pressing her forehead to the glass, her usual debonair expression cracking into a sad countenance.
"You are all I need" he informed and she whipped around, making her way to him and sealing their lips softly. Caius' throat burned from the scent of her blood though lust filled his brain as his hands gripped tighter to the dress flowing from her waist.
As he lifted her into his arms, the icy purple fabric flowing from her waist swished, hitching up to reveal her soft legs. For the first time, she didn't feel homesick, she didn't feel sad...she felt loved and she knew that all she needed to be happy was her mates.
"Careful love" Caius gasped but he still walked until they tumbled onto the bed, the low cut dress rode further down to reveal her lacy bra, a low rumble erupted through the kings chest and he held her tighter.
"I want this"
"You don't need to prove anything" he answered and she pulled away, pulling her body further up the bed until she lent against the pillows.
"You don't want me?" She responded and her previous smile dropped. In that moment Caius knew he'd do anything to return the joy to her lips.
"I want you more than you'll ever know" he replied as he crawled to her, hitching up her knees and forcing them apart so he sat between.
"Then why...?"
"You are not experienced and I could hurt you" he responded dully as roses bloomed along her cheeks in blazon rows of colour.
"Then teach me," she asked as her hand gripped his tie, her eyes refusing to meet his. Eventually, the Volturi king tilted her head up until their eyes locked and he gently placed their lips together, bodies heated and joy exchanging.
After a couple of minutes of making out with the gorgeous girl, Caius pulled back finally, taking in her ragged breathing and erratic heartbeat. Reaching up, he trailed the side of her face with his hand in smooth rhythmic patterns as she purred unconsciously.
"Are you tired?" He asked and she glanced up through lashes.
"No"
"Do you want to watch a movie?" He suddenly asked out of the blue as he stared at the flat screen propped against the wall opposite, curtsey of Felix and Demetri no doubt.
"Okay" she smiled and watched as he stumbled over to the movie cabinet, she lent back on the extravagant pillows. Caius glanced back in concern as she coughed though she merely waved him off. Just as the opening of the movie started, the other kings entered, causing Caius to roll his eyes profusely.
"Are you okay love?"
"I'm okay Caius" she promised and reached for Marcus as a baby would reach for their toy or parent. The seemingly oldest brother smiled softly at her adorable nature and almost cooed as she yawned. Leaning into her arms, Marcus was suddenly cradled and hugged tightly against her dress clad body.
Marcus shifted so Attarah lay between himself and Caius as Aro perched awkwardly on the edge of the bed, watching as she drifted off to sleep, despite it not being late.
----
Attarah awoke with a start to a blinding light infiltrating the room through the open curtained windows, plaguing the room with incessant daylight. Rolling away with a groan, her fingers gripped tightly at the pillow below her.
Eventually, she realized that it was not a pillow at all, her hands grasped at a thick fabric, a thick fabric that also lay around her small body, a cloak. At first, she was resistant, not wanting the contact to end but she eventually opened her eyes to come face to face with Caius.
"Good morning princess" he whispered at his ever minty cold breath flew into her face, waking her up more. Attarah yawned and rolled away to sit upwards, rubbing her eyes and squinting until she recognized Aro and Marcus also present.
"Are you okay my sweet?" Aro questioned, she seemed dazed but what did they expect from a girl who'd only just awoken. Finally, she managed to slide to the edge of the bed where she stretched, her backbone clicking as she did so.
"I'm fine" her voice was foggy, a morning voice that the kings didn't recognize.
"Are you ill my sweet princess?" Caius asked and Attarah giggled, clearing her throat.
"I'm fine...when was the last time you spent a day with a human?" She giggled again, they clearly didn't know much about humans.
A knock sounded in the room.
"Masters" a voice greeted as a girl entered, she was small and had dark hair like Attarah but was clearly older, along with having an Italian accent.
"Attarah, this is Miranda, she is your new handmaiden as Jane is rather busy" Marcus introduced as the girl frowned.
"Handmaiden?"
"Every Queen needs a handmaiden my love" Aro smiled as he stood behind her, his hands resting on her shoulders gently. "Miranda, help Attarah get ready and escort her to the kitchens for breakfast. I'm sorry we cannot join you today love, we have a meeting"
Attarah whipped around to face him, her arms wrapping around his waist gently as she looked up at him. "That's okay love" she smiled and he chuckled, leaning down to kiss her forehead before leaving with his brothers.
"I shall draw you a bath my lady" Miranda smiled and Attarah returned it with only a slight frown.
"Please call me Attarah"
"I cannot, the kings will become very mad at me."
"Well, when we are alone, be free to call me what you wish then?" Attarah asked and the girl smiled as she entered the bathroom to draw a bath for the girl.
----
Attarah stepped out of the bathroom wearing a robe to find her new handmaiden waiting with a makeup case and assortment of hairbrushes. Attarah sat and Miranda got to work on making the queen look beautiful.
"It must be nice being the Queen" the handmaiden attempted to begin communication with the girl.
"I wouldn't call myself a queen, I'm barely even an adult and I have been given no lessons, I have been waiting to be told how to be a queen but nobody has taught me anything"
"I think a good Queen doesn't require lessons, a good Queen has a kind heart, that is what you have I believe and you will balance your kings" Miranda smiled as she braided her curls.
"I get rather bored"
"I have been given a list of activities that are available to you from the kings, they want you to have fun here. There is also a lesson timetable if you wish for it?" Miranda asked and the girl suddenly smiled.
Attarah felt elated to finally have a purpose in the castle, something to do and something to look forward to, up until then she was filled with boredom.
"I'm done your grace, shall I help you in to your dress?"
"That's quite alright Miranda, and please call me Attarah." The future Queen prompted.
-----
Finally, Attarah walked through the stone castle with Miranda slightly behind her. Also alongside her were a girl named Regina and a boy named Clark, both vampires who'd been given orders to protect her.
"You look beautiful your grace"
Attarah was now dressed in a long peach dress with white embroidery and white heels, a golden swan pendant swinging from her neck. Her hair had been braided into a flower crown which she adored.
"Thank you, Miranda, though it was all your doing." The girl giggled as they entered the kitchen to find a meal prepared. Attarah sat and the guards took a stance at the doors.
"Sit with me, Miranda?"
"I mustn't your grace" she stammered.
"Well consider it an order to sit and dine with me?" She asked and Miranda did so awkwardly, accepting the food given to her by her new Queen.
"Tell me about yourself Miranda?"
"Well, I am single, I don't have any children but my sister has a little girl. We all live in a two-bedroom apartment on the edge of town and I am the only one in work as my sister is pregnant again."
"Well, I do believe you deserve a pay rise for your hard efforts" Attarah smiled "I shall speak to the kings"
"What about you your grace? What is your story?...if you do not mind me asking"
"No, it's quite alright to ask questions. I come from Washington in America. I have a sister and I lived with my father who was the chief of police. A while ago my sister met a vampire named Edward and they are now married. At their wedding, I met the kings who recognized me as their mate and brought me here"
"What is your sister's name?"
"My sister is called Bella, I'm not sure whether she is human or vampire now though I do hope she is a vampire for that is what she wanted to be" Attarah smiled.
"Do you want to be a vampire?"
"The only way to love an immortal is to be immortal yourself Miranda, and I love three."
---
The future queen, Attarah waltzed along the garden path, leaves catching in her dress and wing dancing with her hair, the heels of her shoes clicking rhythmically, with Miranda smiling at her side. Flowers and grasses grew on either side of the trail they tracked.
"King Marcus requested your company in the library later today your grace" the sweet handmaiden informed as they walked, Attarah finally glanced up from her fascination with Tue flowers, a smile painted upon her lips.
"Is there a specific time?"
"After they finish their meeting" the women informed as they continued to walk, finally they reached a gazebo, an iron frame table and chairs placed beneath the shaded cool.
"Take a seat" Attarah smiled softly as she sat, turning to her right and picking red flowers from the vine that grew to her right, slowly she picked more, twisting the stems into a green halo until finally, a beautiful red flower crown had formed.
"That is very pretty" Miranda informed as the princess began to slot white flowers into the gaps to form a beautiful array of colour.
"It is for you" Attarah smiled softly and stood, placing it upon the lady's head and twirling the curls around the vines until it was positioned neatly within an arc of hair, braided and elaborately gorgeous.
"Thank you, my lady"
"You look beautiful" Attarah complimented and rows of roses bloomed along the precious handmaiden's cheeks, as vibrant as the halo above her curls. "Come, let us find my kings, their meeting had finished" Attarah giggled and pulled her new friend to stand before running away with Miranda in tow.
The kings finally exited the execution of a gentleman who'd created twin immortal children and they were emotionally strained and in slight pain, they took the time to walk the grounds and relax.
As they turned onto a row of white roses, they heard the sound of heels crushing gravel and loud bubbly giggles, one they recognized, the other not so much. Finally, they found the source, watching their beauty run down a row of lily flowers beside the pond, dressed wonderfully and looking like a fairytale princess.
"My kings" she giggled as she spotted them, running over and jumping into Aro's arms, who just so happened to be the closest, she beamed happily and pressed a kiss to his lips as the other men smiled in affectionate greeting.
"Well hello there" Aro chuckled as he finally pulled away, placing his future queen on her feet once more as Miranda emerged, out of breath and wearing a beautiful fresh flower crown that they hadn't seen previously.
"You must slow down your grace, you may hurt yourself" the girl stressed as she regained breath, staring at Attarah who's chest was heaving also, either from the run or the kiss, none were sure.
"I'm okay" Attarah hiccupped and hugged Caius in her arms softly, her face turning to bury into his white locks, her hands instantly stroking through the soft hair.
"Are you sure my love?" Marcus questioned as he took her in his arms, feeling her chest rapidly rising against him as they embraced.
"I'm okay"
"You may be excused Miranda though please head to the kitchens and inform the staff that Attarah shall be eating her lunch out here with us" Aro informed and Miranda bowed with a nod.
"Thank you master" she smiled though avoided eye contact before taking Attarah into a hug which she initiated and bidding farewell.
"Come along dear" Aro smiled and linked arms with his queen, escorting her across the garden to an open green patch, a blue patchwork picnic blanket stretched open across it.
"Who did this?" Their mate gasped as she sat on the ground, her dress spread out around her, the kings soon sitting also.
"Well it was my idea but they agreed" Marcus informed as he sat to her right, Caius sat to her left, leaning on his arm that was placed behind her. The girl shifted and cuddled into him.
"Here master" Jane approached, handing her kings a large wicker basket before disappearing as though she had never been there in the first place.
"We weren't sure what you liked...." Caius trails doff gently as he opened the basket with his free hand.
"So we got some of everything" Aro informed with a happy smile.
"I can't eat all that" she gasped as Marcus unloaded the basket before tossing it to the side.
"We don't expect you to" Caius chuckled and glanced around at the plates.
"But we do want you to eat enough, we've looked up the appropriate portion size for your age and we shall be checking!" Aro infirmed sternly though softly and she looked down with a nod.
"Do not be put off by Aro princess, he tends to be a bit overbearing" Caius chuckled.
Caius took a strawberry, placing it to his mates lips, Attarah bit into the juicy fruit and colour splashed along her already crimson lips. Caius pulled back the strawberry and allowed her to swallow the mouthful she had before leaning in a kissing her softly.
"Mm, delicious" he purred and she giggled softly, taking his face in her hands and kissing him with more force until lipstick and strawberry essence covered his lips. The little beauty giggled mischievously at his painted lips and flopped backwards hysterically, laying across Marcus' lap.
Caius chuckled and wiped his lips in a handkerchief and she played with the buttons on Marcus' jacket absentmindedly.
"Thank you for spending time with me"
"No. Thank you for spending time with us" Aro smiled, distinctly happier than he was at the trial.
