3 - Obstacles

Aro turned back to the sitting brunette when Caius had exited the room, both kings present knew that he wasn't angry at her, he was angry at himself for making her feel as if she had to lie to them. She looked up and they watched as tears slid from her green orbs before any words could be spoken, Marcus sat beside her, her head resting on his shoulder as she cried. "He hates me" she whispered and both kings denied instantly, she was not accustomed to the murderous glint that shone in his eyes when he was angered but they were. Marcus managed to hush her after long minutes of excruciating torture for the men, seeing their mate in pain. "He could never" Aro spoke and she stood up, running over to him and jumping, he caught her effortlessly in his toned arms and her legs instantly wrapped around his waist, arms around his neck and face in his hair. The dress rode up to around her knees and he placed his arms under her so she would not fall, beginning to carry her from the room and down to the kitchens with Marcus shortly behind. "We will get you something to eat and then you may sleep, I imagine you are jet-lagged," Marcus spoke softly and she nodded, her face still hidden by the sheet of Aro's hair. She hadn't slept since the wedding, unconsciousness not included and it was already nine in the afternoon of the next day. "What would you like?" Aro asked her as he sat her down on a chair by the table, though she refused to let go and he ended up sitting with her on his lap. "Anything" she mumbled into his hair and a lowly human servant rushed to the stove, cooking swiftly and placing a plate of food by the female shortly after. Attarah picked the knife and fork up and began eating, it took her a long time but eventually, she saw the glint of her reflection in the silver of the cutlery and it caused her to place the utensils down, having seen how much her life had changed. "I'm done" the kings looked over and saw she'd only eaten half the food, unfortunately, they didn't know that the amount she'd eaten was below the humans average food intake and they allowed her to eat no more. "Are you tired?" She nodded and they smiled, taking a hand each and guiding her up to their private stairwell, the kings had their own tower and she now had a room within it. Her room was currently empty, everything was undecorated and painted white, they lay her on the large bed and excused themselves, leaving her there alone, Caius entered shortly after, seeing her lying fully dressed on the bed. "Attarah -" he began. "Most people call me Atty" "Atty... I'm so sorry, I never intended to scare you or sadden you, but the prospect of you not trusting me is painful, I need you to trust me" he tried and she sat up swiftly, walking swiftly to him, he thought she was going to slap him but instead, she wrapped her arms around him in a hug. "I trust you" she whispered and he relaxed, holding her gently, their moment of peace was quickly interrupted when Jane entered, the blond king glared but sighed and exited when he saw her expression. "Mistress Attarah" "Call me Atty" "Atty, tomorrow you and I shall go through the rule book and I'll teach you everything you need to know but right now you require sleep, the kings have ordered me to help you get ready, they will be joining you tonight." She did not Dilly dally as she explained the criteria. "Why will they join me?" She was worried about what they wanted from her, she couldn't give them everything they needed, she couldn't give them her body, she didn't know how. "Don't stress, I shall help you, now follow me" she did as instructed and followed Jane into the large bathroom, watching as the blond drew her a bath. "When you are done, wear this" Jane ordered and Attarahs eyes widened, Jane had provided her with a sheer fabric dress, only small slithers of lace hiding the essential regions and a pair of lacy underwear. "Trust me, you will look amazing" "I'll look ridiculous" she protested and Jane refused to believe it, forcing her to wear it. Jane returned to the bedroom and waited, half an hour later, Attarah emerged looking like a Greek goddess, exactly how Heidi and Chelsea had predicted.  The dress showed off her body perfectly but was still slightly modest, Jane nodded in approval and instructed Attarah to put her hair up, the brunettes followed orders and put it in a bun, making her look ever gorgeous. "Sit down" the girl followed orders again, sitting in the window seat, the moonlight reflected around her and she knew that only her silhouette was visible. "I'm done, the kings will be in momentarily" before the human had a chance to respond, the vampire lady was gone, leaving Atty alone with her thoughts. At that moment, she realized that she was mated to three men, three vampire men, she would need to be everything to them, everything she didn't know how to be, she'd never been in love, she'd never even read about it, knowing the prosperity would confuse her more. Before she could do anything to hide her body from view, the door was opened and her mates entered... "Attarah?" Marcus asked the silence, seeing a figure lounging in the window seat, the female stood and the moonlight reflected off of her, the dress going see-through as intended, they now had a view of her entirely, only her most important regions covered with lace. "Marcus" her sweet voice returned and she walked forward, reaching Marcus first, the king placed his hand on her waist as she hugged him and he felt her curves beneath the fabric, making him yearn to touch her skin. "How are you?" "Perfect" he didn't have time to react as he found her soft lips pressed to his own, what he didn't expect was his own reaction, he held her tighter and he heard fabric shred, his throat ripped in pain whilst soothed at the same time, he was overwhelmed. "You're okay" she whispered to him, sensing his distress, she placed her forehead on his and he breathed deeply, trying to regain control, he looked down to see that he'd cut a slit in the side of her dress but she seemed unfazed. "I'm okay" he returned and she smiled, turning and finally acknowledging her other mates, she went to Aro first and he took her in his arms, her hand cupped his cheeks and they gazed into one another eyes, lips eventually meeting. Aro shortly found himself feeling the way that Marcus did previously, it was a sensation he never predicted but he found himself addicted, wanting more of the odd pleasure-pain. Unfortunately, his turn ended all too soon and Caius found himself experiencing what they had, making him shocked, he didn't know what to think upon seeing their reactions but it was truly dazzling. "Good night my loves" was the last they heard of her voice as she lay on the bed, not bothering to slide under the covers, it was a heated room and she would overheat under the blanket, she lay on the sheets and they lay around her, in bliss. ---- Dawn broke like a golden fountain of happiness, bright warm beams of light illuminated the room and all four of the occupants stayed in silence as they gazed at the bright rainbow of colour that reflected along the carpet, reflecting off of a glass implement on the window ledge. "Attarah?" Caius was first to speak, she'd been awake for an hour but said nothing, her breathing was low but her green eyes were bright and they turned to him when he eventually spoke. "Are you okay?" They had all been waiting for her to talk, to hear her voice. "I'm fine, you will all return to work soon, I just wanted to just be with you for a while" she sighed and sat up on the bed, knowing the spell had been broken. The kings sat up also, they were finding it increasingly irritating having to be the way they were, she only had two hands and two cheeks, they couldn't all be near her at once. "We didn't know how hard it would be to find time to spend with you" Aro sighed, raking a hand through his hair in frustration, the nights were their only free time but she required time, they were struggling to make the hours fit in. "It's okay, go and work, I'll be fine" she reassured with her customary smile and they all kissed her gently before exiting, they had no other choice and in their irritation, they missed the sadness in her eyes. Attarah opened her door and saw a dress hanging on the back of it on a coat hanger, a note was attached to the hanger and she removed it. Morning Atty, we all had work to do so none of us could help you get ready, I apologize. Jane, Xx. After reading Jane's note, Attarah took the dress and reentered the room, taking her sweet time to change for she had nowhere else to be. The dress was bright crimson, a sweetheart neckline and at the waist, it fanned out largely. Also on the hanger was her very own Volturi cloak though hers was white. The girl dressed slowly and filled in her makeup, eventually looking at herself in the mirror and feeling satisfied. Attarah sat on the window ledge, her hand gently stroking the crimson fabric, her eyes fixed in the grounds below, she could see a garden with roses that matched her dress and she longed to walk among them, though she had no idea of how to find her way. The human eventually built up enough courage and did her hair in loose curls, pulling up her hood and trekking into the wardrobe to find some shoes to match her dress as none were provided by Jane, the blond probably didn't anticipate Attarah leaving the room. The short human soon found the shoes which she wanted, they were pristine white with low heels, golden caps at the base, the straps also had golden buckles and small intricate crystals hanging from them. Attarah allowed her dress and cloak to fall back down, concealing her shoes and she hesitantly took the door handle, opening the door and walking out slowly, she heard her own heels click as she made her way down the stairs, down to the main castle... The petite human walked along what she'd hoped was the final corridor, it had taken her an awfully long time to arrive at the position in the castle where she was, she now recognized a few paintings and as she opened the door, she found herself in the reception, making her smile as she recognized the friendly human assistant. Attarah made her way to the main castle door and opened it, walking to the left of the doors, down a part of the path until she reached an iron gate, her hands gripped it and she pulled it, successfully finding herself stepping onto the greenery of the castle gardens. The human walked through the rows of roses, a smile ever present on her face, though she couldn't push the loneliness away, she knew the experience would be much better if she were not alone. Regrettably, the female ventured on, Jane had promised to teach her everything she needed to know. The small human sat on the dewy grass, her mind wandering, if she was still living in Forks, she'd be entering her final year if high school, not that she had any friends anyway. She lay back among the roses as tears spilt down her cheeks. She never did have friends and that was one thing that hadn't changed, Rosalie was her only friend and as she looked at the roses, her tears turned to sobs as she thought of her friend, the friend who didn't even try to help her. The sky turned grey visibly above her and she suddenly realized that the weather was freezing, she shivered where she lay but she wasn't aware of it. Her tears froze on her cheeks as snow fell surrounding her but she ignored it, she wasn't even aware of its presence, it didn't even occur to her that she'd lay there for hours. She didn't bother sitting, she was concealed, the white if her cloak blended in with the layers of snow and the red from her dress with the roses, she hadn't known that roses could survive snow but they appeared to be doing brilliantly. She froze but she ignored it... --- The kings sat on there thrones, a snowstorm was due to hit that day, contradicting the sunny morning weather entirely, the only flowers grown in the castle were a special brand of roses, they survived the intense weather against all odds. "Masters" Jane rushed in and they looked up to see her looked alarmed, it was around one in the afternoon by this point and they were finishing up work early, excited about seeing their mate. "What's the matter?" Ark asked, sitting up straighter in his throne as he inquired. "I cannot find mistress Attarah" Jane rushed out and all four kings were suddenly alert. As Aro opened his mouth to give orders a voice cut him off. "I'm right here" a voice cut them off and they looked up to see Attarah in the doorway, snow hung in her hair and on her head and shoulders, she was submerged in it and her skin was slightly blue, her lips a dark purple. "Where were you, are you okay?" All three kings rushed out at once and she frowned but nodded. "Yes, I'm fine, I'm sorry I interrupted your work" she spoke and turned to leave but was stopped. "Have you eaten?" "No" she then left the room and closed the door behind her, she'd only reentered the castle in the hopes that someone would spend time with her, even whilst living with Charlie, she hadn't felt loneliness in that form, sure school was hectic as she had no friends but she always found other things to occupy her mind, in the castle she was alone with just her thoughts. Attarah was next conscious of her actions as she opened a door, within was a vast library and books lined all four walls, couches spread in the centre, she smiled st the fact that she'd have something to do for once. The problem wasn't that the kings weren't with her, it was that nobody gave her anything to do, she was bored beyond recognition. So, she did what she could and read a book, then another and another, eventually she saw nightfall but she continued to read, the young girl read until her lids forced themselves closed, at that point it was sunrise, she'd spent all day and night reading on the library... The kings had gone to their mate's room at dusk but found it uninhabited so they followed her scent around the castle, she'd been wandering around for a long time, along the search they found that her scent was strongest in the garden, signifying that she'd spent a long time there. The kings ventured down to the kitchen to prepare her a meal before heading back to her room, presuming that she'd returned by that moment, but she had not, they placed her food down and returned to their own rooms, she clearly did not want to be found, as much as it saddened them to think of it.
