The Finest hour

-The Next Kingdom-

      It is now morning. Lydia stopped crying and was asleep against the wall. Syla was asleep in the bed. After a few hours, Lydia wakes up and stretches. She gets up and looks in the mirror that's hanging on the wall. The redness in her eyes has gone down. She rubs her eyes and walks out of the room and shuts the door back quietly. She walks into the kitchen and Link it already sitting at the table eating. He looks over to Lydia. 

       "Morning!" He takes another bite of eggs.

       "Morning," Lydia looks around the house. 

       "Good morning! Eat up! I made plenty for everyone! I hope you slept well!" The older man says making a plate for Lydia. 

       "Thank you." Lydia sits in front of Link. 

       "Your eyes are kinda red. You ok?" Link gets up, sets his fork down on the plate and walks over to the sink. 

       "Yeah, yeah, I'm ok, just allergies!" Lydia smiles over to Link. 

       "Oh, okay." Link washes his plate and sits back down. The older man walks over and sets a plate full off food in front of Lydia. Lydia looks up at him, nods and smile. He smiles back and walks away. Lydia starts scarfing down the food. Link giggles slightly. Once Lydia finished she gets up and washes her dishes. She walks back over and sits down in front of Link. After a while, everyone trickles into the kitchen. They all eat then all sit around the table. 

        "The next kingdom isn't far away. We should make it there today." Everyone nods and looks around. "You guys ready for this?"

        "Will we ever be ready?" Lydia giggles.

        "Fair point." Everyone giggles. "Well, we should get going." Everyone stands and thanks the older man. They all walk out to the woods. They are walking along the path when suddenly a huge castle appears in their view. 

         "Wow." Arden says in shock. 

         "Well, lets get this over with." Everyone nods. They all walk up to large walls leading into the village. They all take a deep breath and walk into the village. They pass commoners and nod at each one. Once they reach the castle gate, they all stop and look up. Lydia turns around in front of everyone. "I'm going to distract the guards. They're all gonna come after me so you guys run and get the job done." Everyone nods. Garland, Arden, and Syla turn to each other and plan. Lydia turns to Link. Link walks up to her.

         "Be careful." Lydia smirks. 

         "You too" Link smirks back. Lydia nods and turns to look at the castle. Lydia runs up to the big gate where two guards are keeping watch. They both look to Lydia. Lydia starts running around the castle walls and climbs up to the top of the gate. She runs back over to the guards. "Pst. You aren't doing a very good job at your... well job."

         "What?! Get her!" One guard says. Lydia starts running around on the top of the gate. More guards seem to pop up and start chasing after her. One guard makes it on top of the gate and gets close to Lydia. Lydia turns to face the guard. The guard draws his sword. Lydia draws hers as well. The two start sparing. 

-To link and the others-

          Link looks over to see all the guards running to Lydia. 

          "Come on guys." Link and the others run through the castle gates into the castle. They all run up the stares to the kings room. Well, at least what they think is the kings room. "This is probably the room. Well, lets find out." Link pushes open the big doors. Once the doors are open, it exposes a big room. A nice, big, white bed that has beautiful golden pillow cases. A large desk where the king stands frightened. A vanity where the queen sits in fear. 

          "Who are you and why are you here?! Guards!" The king looks shocked and terrified once no guards come. 

          "We are the next monarch." Right after Link makes this statement a box of lite matches flies across the room and lands on the cotton bed spread. The bed goes up in flames. Link closes the bedroom doors. Him and the others start running. Arden holds a match in his hand and pauses for a minute before lighting the cloth hanging from the ceiling on fire. Arden runs to catch up with the others. Link turns to see smoke coming from the bottom of the door. The king swings opens the door, starts coughing and falls to the floor. Link takes a deep breath. "Long live the king." Link starts coughing from inhaling smoke. Garland goes and pulls his arm. He starts running. Him and the others make it out of the building. They look over to see Lydia and a guard sparing on the gate still. But its only the one guard and Lydia now. The other guards went into the building already. The guard swings his sword and it grazes Lydias cheek. Lydias head goes flying to the side. She's breathing heavy and looks over to the side to see Link and the others. She snarls her nose and turns back to face the guard. She swings her sword low and grazes behind the guards left knee. The guard falls to his knee and Lydia jumps off the gate to land on a soft spot of grass. She walks towards the others. She stops right in front of Link. Link lifts his hand to Lydias right cheek where a big s***h is places some blood runs down her cheek. He stops his hand right before it touches her cheek. Link lowers his hand. Lydia looks up to the castle to see fire. She looks back down to the others and nods. 

         "Good job. Lets keep moving." Everyone nods. Lydia and the others walks out of the castle gates and out of the village where commuters are looking at the castle frightened. They make it out of the village and walk back into the woods.
