Discovering mrs Jones

On Saturday morning Caitlyn and Marcus took the kids to the land to meet contractors. Caitlyn had already organised the contractors to clear the land and were in the process of making 2 cement slabs.

Caitlyn this is great I’m so thankful, turning to the kids why don’t you go play over there out of the way of the contractors while we just sort through some details.

suddenly Marcus and Caitlyn could hear two people outside what looked like an old abandoned cottage yelling at each other.

Oh my goodness that’s mrs white! I wonder who that young girl is Caitlyn voice was soft and quiet. Marcus walked over to mrs white is there a problem here? He asked. The young girl early 20’s snapped great another busy body wants to get involved. I’M YOUR MOTHERS BEST FRIEND IM CONCERNED FOR HER. Mrs white raising her voice.

I’m worried mrs Jones who lives in this cottage lost her husband 12 months ago, the last 9 months no-one has seen her, when I come to check on her, her daughter pops up out of nowhere with groceries and won’t allow it.

Marcus introduce himself as a police office from town he asked what is your name and can you explain what is wrong with your mum. Bianca as for my mum I’m sure she doesn’t want it plastered all over town so I won’t be telling you she announces with her head held high.

then I will have to approach mrs Jones as welfare concern has been made, by the looks of this place It would appear abandoned. Marcus knocked on front door, few seconds later a voice from behind the door came yes who is it? Before Marcus could speak Bianca said just me Mum I have your groceries.

Marcus was suspicious that Bianca had tried to stop him from speaking with mrs Jones he said senior Sargent Marcus are you able to open the door? Bianca walked past opening the door and closing it behind her. Mrs Jones Marcus sang out.

Mrs Jones opened the door, mrs white is here to visit however Bianca and her were having a discussion over wether you would like her to visit, I wanted to check with you marcus informed mrs Jones

Mrs Jones said I have been loosing my vision over the last 6 months, mrs white has not had anything to do with me in the past 12 months. Bianca told me no-one wants to see me since Logan’s death. Bianca brings me Tins of tuna each week.

Mrs white cries every week I try to visit but Bianca stops me. Come mrs white let’s leave mrs Jones in peace Marcus ushering mrs white away from the door.

Caitlyn who had been standing at the fence observing everything that just happened ran up to mrs white and asked does mrs Jones have a cat? Mrs white replied no that’s the one thing she won’t have as she’s allergic to them.

Marcus gave a questioning looked at Caitlyn well Marcus one of two things either somehow there is a cat there or instead of bringing tuna Bianca is bringing her mum cat food when she open the door I could see a bin full of cat food tins.

Marcus approached mrs Jones house as he was about to knock Bianca was coming out. Does your mum have a cat he asked? No she’s allergic to them she replied without thinking. So why does your mum house smell of cat food and I could see empty cat food tins? Bianca tried to run but Marcus caught her restraining her and calling for back up.

By the time the on duty police turned up Bianca had accidentally voluntarily confessed by saying through gritted teeth to mrs white why didn’t you stay away I had already got her to believe no one wanted anything to do with her she’s getting worst day by day soon I would own everything, then I could fire you.

Mrs white gasp you poisoned your mum? on purpose out of greed! Bianca what happened to you? what would your father think of what you did to your mother?

Bianca was taken by police. Marcus approached mrs Jones with mrs white and Caitlyn, he explained what happened to mrs Jones before asking Caitlyn if she would mind watching the girls as he had to head to station.

Sure will help tidy here and meet you back at motel.mrs white asked mrs Jones to sit on the porch and have some tea with her while introducing Caitlyn and the children.

Caitlyn and the children cleared the house up a bit but was unable to get rid of smell. mrs white announced mrs Jones owns the motel and has a room there I will bring her there while she recovers.

6pm came about on Saturday night and Marcus was still not back Caitlyn suddenly realised she didn’t have Marcus phone number so she asked Stephanie if she could call her dad and see if he was ok with meeting them at the restaurant for dinner.

After 10 minutes Stephanie told Caitlyn her dad was going to miss dinner but would probably be home by 10 to watch a movie with the girls Caitlyn decided to invite mrs Jones to dinner.

While at dinner everyone was enjoying it the kids were talking amongst themselves and mrs Jones was telling Caitlyn how the town was named after her late husband and the plans he had for the property and how sad she was that she couldn’t make it happen.

Caitlyn also discovered during the night that Bianca was mr and mrs Jones adopted daughter mrs Jones talked about how her husband use to spoil her and she started to tear up at the thought of how she turned out.

Caitlyn looked at the time omg 10pm already she ordered a spaghetti Bowl take away for Marcus to have for dinner. By 10.30 they were heading back to motel.

Caitlyn asked mrs Jones would you mind showing me the plans your husband had for the property. Ok there in my room drop the kids off with Marcus and you can come and check them out says mrs jones

Caitlyn took the kids into room boys went to there room on devices and the girls got change and went to their room I knocked on Marcus door waiting to hear him speak, however he opened the door ready to come out. Stephanie appeared in her pj’s and told Marcus he has dinner here that they were all to tired for a movie but she would sit with him till Caitlyn comes back.

Marcus raised a eyebrow do you have plans Caitlyn? No no I’m just going to see mrs Jones for a minute so she can show me something but I would like to have a conversation with you tonight when I get back. Marcus nodded ok

Mrs Jones this is wonderful what Logan had plan why can’t you do this? Caitlyn questioned

Just I’m to old to do it on my own, I had hoped Bianca would help but we know that won’t work. Mrs Jones said sadly

Mrs Jones would you mind if I borrow this plan and return it tomorrow I would like to show marcus. Ok dear, please call me Dorothy. With that Caitlyn took the drawings and told Dorothy to get some rest.

Caitlyn practically ran through door bumping into Marcus shhh slow down the kids are asleep. what’s got you excited? he asked. Logan’s plans their wonderful. Hmm Logan is that mrs Jones new name he said with his lip curve up.

Logan was mrs Jones husband not someone I meet. not that should matter, we’re not together or even friends we just meet Caitlyn said through harsh tone. Caitlyn I have a right to know who’s around my kids, I thought we were becoming friends. Friends trust each other Caitlyn spat back

My apologies, would you like to show me the plans he said in apologetic tone. Caitlyn grumbled. The plan included a huge fruit tree plantation, flower bed gardens, fruit and vegetables paddock and shop, horse stables, stadium for shows a barn, cafe, pony rides and petting zoo.

Marcus was thinking how great this would be when Caitlyn turned to another page with animals for poultry, butcher shop and grounds for cabins for staff to be built which will be worked into their salary . Wonderful is mrs Jones going to do this?marcus asked Caitlyn ignoring his puzzled look, she would like to but says it would be to much to manage on her own.

She would only want to finance it and do some gardening work. Soooo I thought what if instead of building our houses we do this for Dorothy. Marcus head turn to Caitlyn but before he could speak Caitlyn put her hand up we can sell the land back to her, ask her to sell us land a bit further down. I know this is a big job but if she is willing to let us manage it while staying here for free it would be a great deal.

Caitlyn continued I would get a break from my normal life my kids would be outdoors more. I imagined you were looking for change and hey you have a babysitter for while your working Caitlyn said giggling.

Marcus looked up I’ve been working a lot this weekend sorry, I have next weekend off to be with girls and work on house or mrs Jones place he smiled. Really you agree Caitlyn was excited. Only 1 condition I have is that we drive out here during this week together and get to know each while working on farm. You know work on trust and friendship issues Caitlyn smiled and hugged marcus I can’t wait to tell mrs Jones.

The next morning marcus woke to the smell of breakfast when he open the door he was in shock to see all the food Caitlyn had made and the kids helping to set table of 11. Argh I need my coffee and this smells great but last I checked there was 8 of us marcus said as he kiss his girls good morning.

I have invited mrs Jones, mr and mrs white to breakfast. So no coffee till you put clothes on they’ll be here any in minute Caitlyn waving off to get changed by the time he resurfaced everyone was seated at the table waiting him before eating.

Once they had something to eat Caitlyn announced that they had a proposal for mrs Jones she told her that they would like to manage the farm for her in return for staying at the motel for free till they could find and build there own properties and would be happy to sell their property back to her or exchange it for a different parcel of land.

Mrs Jones thought about it for a moment I will buy it back from you as for another piece of land we can talk about it as time goes on. When will you start she asked.

well as you know Caitlyn and I don’t really know each other, so we will drive up tomorrow to see how our working relationship goes before living next to each other adding a wide grin at Caitlyn.

Ok I’ll have some paperwork for you to sign Cynthia (mrs white ) will you help me arrange paperwork in the morning. Yes of course Cynthia replied.
