Marcus meets Caitlyn

Caitlyn dropped the kids to school Monday morning and headed back to Logan to buy the land she met Sally at the office at 11.30am knowing she need to leave by 12.30 to be back to pick up the kids.

Sally was a beautiful young woman in her 20’s dressed very smart and friendly. Sally asked Caitlyn what her intentions for the land was and why she wanted to move to Logan.

Caitlyn explained she wanted to build a house in a small friendly place and get her kids back to some outdoor activities. However I’m not looking to move straight away my children are all still at school and i plan to keep them in their schools so I will do what I can weekdays with hired help and be here Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon.

Sally jotted down notes before asking what would you like to offer for the property? Caitlyn responded $200,000 for quick 4 day settlement

Sally’s head swung around in shock you know it’s on 1 acre right? Yes Caitlyn replied but I just want to sign today and know I own it buy Friday ok let me get the paperwork ready should take me 30 minutes. Great do you mind if I wait I’m in a hurry Caitlyn replied sally nodded I’ll get to it now.

20 minutes later sally returned I took another 20 minutes to sign and was ready to head home it was 12.30 and I was happy to meet my time limit.

Marcus meet fred at the police station at 12pm as he had paperwork to fill out for his new position sheriff Tom introduce Marcus as the new part time senior sheriff.

Marcus had already discussed with Fred that he wanted to purchase the land for $200,000 with quick 4 day settlement and Fred brought the contract to him Marcus signed and said his goodbyes. He wanted to stop and look at his newly acquired land before he left.

On Caitlyn way home she suddenly wanted to stop when she got to the vacant land. As she got out of her car another car pulled up. Marcus got out nodded hi I’m Marcus

Caitlyn walked up to Marcus shaking his hand I’m Caitlyn I just purchase this land . Marcus smiled really I just purchase this land. That can’t be right Caitlyn replied I’ll call Sally.

Just then both Caitlyn and Marcus phones rang Sally was apologising to Caitlyn she explained when she met Caitlin that Fred was on his way to station to meet Marcus.

Caitlyn began to pace looking at her watch it’s now 1 pm Marcus approached Caitlyn saying I’m sure it will all work out no need to stress.

In that moment Caitlyn looked up furious at Marcus snapping it’s not alright I live 2 hrs away am a single mum of 3 kids at 3 different schools AND THE YOUNGEST TWO NEED TO BE PICKED UP AT 3.

Marcus took a step back then asked what town are you from I’m a police officer maybe I can help. Caitlyn could only reply Bathurst. Marcus smiled I know all the schools, Ring them and explain your going to be 1/2 hour late if you need me to verify it I can talk to them.

Thanks it will be fine but I’ll call them excuse me Caitlyn replied and turned away to make her calls when she finished she felt more relieved walking back to Marcus Caitlyn held out her hand to shake Marcus sorry about yelling I was just on edge but I should not have taken out on you. It’s all good I would be the same except I have help with my kids.

Sally and Fred turned up and explained we both offered the same at the same time a mistake on their part I looked at Marcus wanting nothing more then to leave as I knew this isn’t going to be resolved that quickly.

Marcus spoke first Caitlyn would you mind you and your kids joining my kids and I for dinner tonight to discuss this matter. Sally and Fred looked puzzled at each other.I’m sorry I can’t tonight.

Pulling a card out of her wallet she quickly scribble her name and number and handed it to Marcus you can text or call I can talk in between kids extra activities. Will do, Sally, Fred, we will be in contact Marcus replied as I was already getting into my car.

Hey Caitlyn I don’t need my car tonight why don’t I leave it here and drive back with you and we can talk while I drive so you don’t get booked Caitlyn smiled realising how likely that was at this moment Caitlin agreed sure but will your car be safe here. Turning to Fred marcus asked could one of you please drop my car at the station and leave keys with Tom I’ll collect it tomorrow. Fred nodded ok before catching the keys Marcus threw to him.

In a flash Marcus was in the driver seat and I was in passenger heading back looking at Marcus I asked is it possible to split the land. Yes but then we won’t have quick settlement like we wanted as subdivisions will need to happen first Marcus replied.

It was quiet for a few minutes before Marcus suggested we could by the land together and build two houses save us both money. Caitlyn squirm in her seat thinking I don’t know this man now he’s asking me to buy land with him.

Caitlyn are you ok? Caitlyn heard the words Marcus had spoken and still not replied u-u- ummm yes sorry was just thinking and with all her nervousness just let it pour out.

We don’t know each other. What if one wants to sell? What if we don’t get along as neighbours? Your a police officer. I have 3 kids.Do you have kids, how many? What if your wife doesn’t want you living next to a single women? Don’t you need to discuss this with your wife? What am I thinking this won’t work.

Whoa Caitlyn Marcus trying to calm her nerves, yes we don’t know each other but I’m a police officer and we will have months to get to know each other while our house are being built, plus do you really ever know your neighbours before moving in? Before Caitlyn could say anything Marcus continued.

I dont mind you have 3 kids I have 3 too although I’m not crazy enough to have 3 different schools Marcus chuckles as for my wife she won’t mind who I live next to so long as the person doesn’t hurt the girls and lastly I don’t need to check with her as she is deceased.

Caitlyn looked up in shock oh I’m sorry I hope I didn’t offend you by asking? All good Marcus said with a serious look then smiled we are here.

Caitlyn looked at the school then the time before looking to marcus wow were on time how and how did you know what school.

I know back streets and I heard you talking to school and my kids actually go school here so I’ll call my sister in law to meet up and get a lift. Caitlyn I don’t want to push you but we both seem to want the property in a hurry if you want to buy together I can arrange to call Fred organise paperwork so we can still do exchange Friday.

We will still need to sign new paperwork will you be available tomorrow, we can meet here and I’ll get a lift with you so I can bring my car back. I’ll ring Fred and tell him to have paperwork ready ok Caitlyn says
