My Mate

997 Words
Jane’s POV With the announcement of Blood Moon’s arrival, everyone becomes tense. Their aura can be felt long before they come into our sight. A crowd of 50 to 60 people appears. They too are all formally dressed, mostly in black. Their men are tall and muscular, and the women seem well-trained and alert. When they all step off their jets, a solemn silence falls over the airport. They gather near one another, a tight formation exuding dominance, and then from the other jet, a group of five to six people descends—and that is when the most powerful aura hits us. It's so overwhelming and dangerous that everyone around me, including Gabriel, becomes visibly tense. He even takes a step or two back. His wolf is definitely fighting him for submission. The aura is bone-chilling. I’ve never felt anything like it before. Even Dad grows restless and instinctively puts his arms around Mom and me. Everyone’s nervous. I can feel it. But strangely, I’m not. Unlike Gabriel’s aura—which seemed more like a show-off—this one feels raw, natural, like it’s radiating without any effort. Wolves around us are either submitting or stepping back with each passing second, but I stand still. The aura doesn’t scare me—instead, it feels like a shield of warmth and safety wrapping itself around me. And then we finally see him. The Blood Moon Alpha, the most feared and powerful werewolf alive, is standing right there in front of me. He’s tall—maybe 6’2 or 6’3—with dark brown hair, a solid muscular build, and he’s terrifyingly attractive. Undoubtedly the most captivating werewolf I’ve ever laid eyes on. The moment I see him, I can’t look away. He’s speaking with a man beside him, likely his Beta, but then suddenly, he stops and looks directly at me. Our eyes meet—and that’s when I realize just how messed up this entire Ceremony is going to be. I can’t believe it. He’s my mate. The Blood Moon Alpha. He pauses for a moment longer, then our Alpha finally musters the courage to step forward and formally welcome them into our territory. The Blood Moon Alpha also steps ahead, with his people following closely. With every step he takes toward me, my heart races faster. And now—he's just three steps away. He greets Gabriel first. Then my father introduces himself and us to the Blood Moon Alpha. That’s when things get even more intense. He’s right there in front of me, yet I can’t stop staring at him—not even for a second. But on the other hand, he only gives me a quick glance when Dad introduces me. Did he feel nothing? Or is he just pretending not to feel anything? What is wrong with him? His cold indifference is driving me insane. I’m going crazy at the thought that he’s so close, yet acting like I don’t even exist. Just as I’m glaring at him, a woman in a black dress appears and casually holds his arm. It takes every ounce of willpower not to lose it on the spot. --- Xavier’s POV As we enter Green Valley Pack’s territory, my heart pounds in my chest. It’s a strange feeling—restlessness mixed with something else I can’t explain. Excitement? Anxiety? I’m not sure, but it’s creating chaos inside me. As we step out of the plane, that feeling intensifies. I’m not the type to get nervous, so this is new to me—and I don’t like it. The Green Valley Pack’s Alpha is waiting with several high-ranking members of his Pack. Another Pack is also present. As we approach, I recognize them. It's the Bluemoon Pack. Their Alpha is also single, probably here hoping to find a mate. My wolf is becoming uncontrollably restless. People around me are beginning to sense it—my Alpha aura is seeping out despite my attempts to suppress it. And I’m usually great at controlling it. “Man, what’s wrong with you? You’re scaring the people,” Sean says, shooting me a glare. “It’s not me—it’s my wolf. He’s all over the place. I don’t know what’s gotten into him.” “Well, suppress it more—for the Moon Goddess’s sake. We’re not here to intimidate everyone.” “Okay,” I mutter, trying hard to rein it in. Sean keeps glaring, but I’m barely listening. My wolf suddenly forces me to turn my head—and that’s when I see her. My mate. What the hell? Why do I have a mate? I never wanted one. Mates are weaknesses—liabilities that enemies can exploit. I’ve been trained all my life to be a strong, emotionless Alpha, and now this? A mate? The very thing I never allowed myself to even hope for? My wolf is going insane. He wants to run to her, touch her, claim her. But something’s wrong—he can’t sense her wolf. Is she blocking it? Or has she… never shifted? Our eyes lock. The moment they do, I know. She feels it too. I quickly look away, trying to distance myself emotionally. I can’t afford this—not now. Not ever. Their Alpha steps forward to greet us, and then their Beta begins introductions. So… she’s the Beta’s daughter. When she’s introduced, I force myself to look at her—just for a second—and it’s enough. Her beauty is mesmerizing. I’d heard rumors that the wolves from Green Valley are stunning, and now I can say for a fact—it’s true. That single glance has me completely unbalanced. And from the way she’s staring at me, I know she felt the bond as well. Just then, Penelope walks up and slips her arm around mine. She always pulls that stunt—but today? Today she’s pushing my limits. I can already feel that my mate is not pleased.
