Departures and Arrivals

Xavier's POV "We'll be leaving at dawn, so make sure everyone is ready. I don't want any delays. We have got the permission to enter their air space in the afternoon. I want us to reach on time. Got it?" "Yes, everyone and everything is ready. I also arranged some gifts for the Alpha's family and our Pack will make some donations to their charitable organizations and hospitals," says Sean. "Since when did we start donating to the Packs who hate us?" I ask, a bit surprised. "It's a goodwill gesture as they're going to let us enter their territory. So, as a respected Pack, we must honor their hospitality. I also thought you might like to do business with them in the hotel sectors," Sean adds with a thoughtful tone. "We haven't met them yet, so we don't know anything about their hospitality. I have no problem with the donations; you can look into it. Just keep me as far away from social interactions as possible." "Fine, I will handle all the goodwill gesture things. But about the business—if we want to expand our business in that area, we might need to work with them. It will be a good opportunity to talk to their Beta. He owns a multibillion-dollar hotel chain." "You think they would like to work with us? Keeping in mind our history, I don't see any chance. I'm even surprised at the fact that they will allow us on their territory." "We'll see. If they seem friendly, I will talk about the business. If not, we will just mind our own business and leave." "Much better." --- Jane's POV The Packs have started arriving, and with each passing day approaching the Ceremony, my restlessness increases at an alarming rate. My heartbeat is pacing so fast that I'm sure people standing twenty yards away can hear it. Almost fifty Packs have reached so far, all with more than fifty single wolves, due to which our territory is really crowded. All the hotels and lodgings are nearly full, and some have been completely reserved by the richer Packs. The Blue Moon will be arriving at 11:00 AM, and I'm expected to receive them along with the rest of our Pack's high officials and my family. As expected, I'm very pissed off—but life is all about putting on an act, and today I'm going to put on one of the best performances of my life. I put on a sleeveless cream-colored, knee-length dress with a black belt and matching black heels to greet the Blue Moon Pack. As I come downstairs from my room, I find my entire family waiting in the living area. As soon as they see me, they all start preparing to leave for the airport. "Jane, I know you don't like meeting new people, but just bear it for a while. As a future Luna, it is expected of you to interact with every guest of the Pack," says Dad, a bit nervous and probably scared of my reaction. "I understand, Dad. I will try my best," I reply, hoping to ease his concern. My mom walks up to me, gently tucks a wavy strand of hair behind my ear, and gives me a soft kiss on the forehead. "All the best, love. Today, you will have to behave like a Luna," Mom says, clearly overwhelmed. "Let's go, it's time," says Dad, and we all follow him. We get into our black SUV, and as we leave the premises of our house, I see my Uncle with his wife and some other Pack members joining us to welcome the Blood Moon Alpha. Now I’m starting to feel really nervous. I didn’t think it was going to be such a big deal. I thought it would be a simple welcoming, but it seems I’ll have to act as a future Luna, which scares the hell out of me at the moment. From my childhood, I was raised to be an Alpha. After my sixteenth birthday, when I was unable to shift, my family started focusing on my brothers. I was left to live my life the way I wanted. No one taught me how to be a Luna or how to act like one. And now I'm expected to be one—unexpected and overwhelming. We finally reach the airport, which is just as crowded as the rest of the valley due to the overwhelming number of wolves participating in the Ceremony. I hope we’re prepared to handle them, as their numbers are massive and increasing with every passing hour. The entire Pack is busy welcoming and hosting the other Packs. As we arrive at the airport, the Blue Moon Pack appears. All of them are formally dressed—men in suits and women in elegant dresses. Their overall appearance screams wealth and power. The male wolves are strong and muscular, clearly exhibiting their physical prowess. The females, on the other hand, are all slim—almost like runway models. They don’t look like they’ve ever trained a day in their lives. There are no visible muscles, just tiny waistlines and perfectly styled appearances. Every single member is ridiculously good-looking. As I’m literally checking out their members, their Alpha appears. Everyone can sense his overwhelming aura, and I notice some even step back or show submission. I don’t see the point of showing off your aura at an airport—maybe he’s just that powerful and it radiates naturally, or maybe he’s trying to assert dominance. Either way, I’m not impressed. My dad’s aura is still stronger than his. My dad never lets his aura scare others. He never shows it intentionally, but everyone knows how strong he is. So Gabriel exhibiting his aura so openly doesn’t sit well with me. I don’t like such exhibitionists. There is literally no need for him to show off like that. As soon as Gabriel steps forward, my Alpha and parents greet him. Then he turns to me. There’s a sickening smirk on his face. He extends his hand toward me, and when I place my hand in his, he kisses it. The moment our skin makes contact, I want to vomit. Just looking at him makes me sick. He is undeniably good-looking, but there is something sinister about him—something that warns people and triggers a deep discomfort in me. As he’s about to open his mouth and say something, a commotion breaks out in the airport. Everyone becomes alert. My heart begins to race even faster, and that’s when my Uncle informs us that the Blood Moon has arrived.
