Lyria came to with a terrible headache, still gagged, but able to see. She found herself laying across a bench at the back of a double carriage, the other compartment hidden from her by a curtain. She could feel that the carriage was bumping and rolling along at a quick pace. She could see, by the dimness outside the carriage, that it was growing dark. Vaguely, she wondered how long she had been in the carriage. She tried to move her legs and found that they were still bound. Then she realized her arms were also bound, and trapped behind her back against the seat. She wriggled fruitlessly for a moment, and then finally was able to right herself, using her shoulder to push herself into a sitting position.
