Prepare for the worst, that’s what we do

“every heard it right?” I said slapping my one palm with another.
“there are more than twelve patients headed to the hospital including a pregnant woman. At least five of them are in very critical condition.” I said to the nursing staff. “please prepare beds on the entrance. And please prepare plenty of warm saline, elastic bandages and dressing sets. Let’s move it.”
“yes doctor!” everyone said rushing to follow their orders.
“doctor Miles, prepare the operation theatre and be on standby and also call the anaesthetic doctors.” I said to my assistant doctor.
“understood doctor.” He replied.
“nurse Brooke call every nearby hospital. We will need as much support as we possibly can.” I ordered.
“okay! Doctor”

“oh lord! Why is there such a big traffic jam!!” I said looking at the vehicles crowding the area ahead.
“no, we can wait any longer.” I grabbed the field response kit and jumped out of the ambulance running to the scene as fast as I can carrying that heavy kit.
“doctor wait for us.” I heard a voice from behind. But I wasn’t the one to wait. I ran and ran without stopping.
“come on we should follow him.” I heard another voice.

At the hospital,
“grab more dressing sets.” One nurse said to the other nurse.
“okay” a reply came.
The saline bags were being prepared with every bed. Operation theatres were equipped with every machines and tools for every possible need. Doctors were called and were on standby. Every preparation was almost done and the doctors were standing at the entrance for the stretchers to come with patients on them.

At the scene.
The windows were cracked open to create as many exits as possible so was the rare gate.
“paramedic! Paramedic!” he yelled.
“yes doctor!”
“I need a blanket and stretcher here, quick. I am a doctor.”
Ren said to the person he could see standing in the paramedic uniform in front of him.
“yes doctor. Please give me a blanket and a stretcher here.” he yelled the last sentence.
“please quickly, this woman is in a very critical condition.” Ren said in a very hurried and a fast tone.
“here, doctor. Prepare the patient we we’ll prepare the path behind you.” The paramedic person said handling him the blanket.
“okay.”
He covered the female patient with the blanket, her clothes were ripped by sticking on the seat when she fell in the centre aisle.
“don’t worry you will be all right. Keep fighting.” Ren said to the woman. He was bandaging her neck and arms to support the injuries she had on her spine. She was middle aged. She was conscious and a lot in pain.
“please save my daughter, she is pregnant. Please save her baby. Please save her, please save the baby.” She continuously muttered in a low weary voice.
“yes! I will do that. And don’t worry about her, she is on her way to the hospital. Her baby will be fine. Please don’t speak so you will save your energy.” Ren comfort her.
The woman again lost her conscious as she was being taken out to the ambulance.
“open your eyes, stay with me.” Ren said. She should not faint, her heart beat will drop.
“make sure she stays awake until she reaches the hospital.” Ren said to the paramedic.
“yes doctor”
“doctor please come here!” another man said.
“the situation isn’t good here. Please hurry up!” He added.
Ren ran to the man just to see two other man there laying on the cold floor.
One of them was a young man, laying on the floor shivering and shaking like a dry dead leaf fallen on the floor on a windy noon. He was unconscious. His head was pooling blood around it. just like the woman he too had many bleeding wounds on his body. But the worst was not that. He had an umbrella making a hole on his chest on the left side. The blood was flowing from it.
The other man had a big metal sheets fallen on him. His legs were under them, bleeding out. He was middle aged and he was too unconscious.
Ren grabbed his phone and dialled, “doctor! where are you?”
“we are almost there.” Ezekiel said.
“please hurry up!!” ren yelled on the phone.
