“are you all ready to begin?” doctor said to the anesthetic doctor.
“yes, let’s begin.” He replied.
“okay, scalpel…” he asked.
“gauze” I asked.
He slit around the rod, on both sides.
“Bovie,” he dissected the layers and I cleaned all the that came out of it.
“Richardson” he asked from the nurse.
“Pull towards you.” He said and fixed it on the split he made.
“Okay bovie and gauze.”
“retractor.”
“grab the rod tightly.” He said to me.
“it looks like it hit the right middle lobe of the lung.” I spoke.
“okay, after we remove the foreign body, we’ll do the right middle lobectomy.” He suggested.
“yes, understood.”
“okay, bovie.”
“okay, I've secured all the blood vessels. Now can you take out the foreign body?” He asked.
“doctor, vitals?”
“yes, they are fine.”
“okay, now we’ll remove the foreign body.”
“yes, I'm ready on my end.”
“ren,”
“yes,”
“take it out.”
“I'm taking it out.” I said and tightly grabbed the rod, before slowly started pulling it out.
“slowly.”
“yes!!”
I pulled it out, but a stream of blood come along with it.
“I'm, sorry.”
“it’s fine, now we’ll perform the right middle lobectomy.”
“doctor Ezekiel, there is a call from doctor Owen, he is operating the other patient and there are some complications there. They need you there.” The nurse said.
“ren, can you finish this up?” he asked me.
“yes, doctor!” I said.
“okay! Finish it up and meet me then.”
“okay,” I said and removing his gloves and mask he left the operation theatre.
“bovie.”
“suture.” I asked.
Finally, after the operation was done, I went to grab some coffee. I was feeling tired already. But when I got in the cafeteria there was a woman on the corner, she was crying very loudly, almost screaming. I went to her, putting my hand on her shoulder I asked,
“why are you crying?” and she looked up to me and said,
“my dad died on the operation table. Doctors said he had a cardiac arrest on the table because he suffered from crush syndrome. But a nurse told me that he could have been saved. But because of a doctors mistake he couldn’t.”
