Chapter 8

241 Words
I was shocked when Jackson pulled up to my house. As he jerked me from the truck, I was even more surprised to see my father walk out onto the front porch. I looked from one to the other but neither gave any indication as to what was going on. Jackson held onto my arm so tightly as we followed my father into the house, I was sure there would be a bruise soon to show. “You didn’t tell her, Daniel. She had no idea who I was when she walked into that school today. I don’t appreciate lies. I should probably take back half the money I paid you.” I was growing more confused by the minute as the two men seemed to forget I was there. My father had always had the ability to not see me, so he didn’t surprise me. The thought crossed my mind to try and escape both. I mean c’mon obviously some type of deal had been made between the two. I would have if Jackson's hand was not still gripped tightly to my arm. Jackson hadn’t yelled his words, but the tone was deadly, and I could tell by my father's face he knew it too. My father's eyes never met mine, even though I begged him silently. I begged him to look at me and see that whatever he had done was wrong and get me out of this mess.
