Chapter 54: Shadow Giant

Ivan turned and ran away as if he was moving on wheels and not his legs. He continued to heal himself as he ran away from the boss. There was no way that Ivan was crazy enough to challenge a Golden Boss without a partner, he knew he wouldn’t be able to kill him with just a staff. Besides, he also had to take into account its Revenant. The best plan was to retreat and go back to when he organized a team.

The only problem was that things didn’t always work the way he expected. Suddenly, a black misty claw reached out in front of Ivan, blocking his way out. When Ivan saw the claw, he recognized it as Shadow Giant’s main skill, Wave Claws.

 “s**t!” Ivan shouted out when he was knocked down by the claw.

Confirmation that he was right floated about his head but the worst part was the poisoning effect.

As soon as Ivan was hit, he lost his HP twice as fast. As he was busy healing himself, two black doors appeared behind him. Each door grew larger and larger, then seven mobs jumped out.

“Shadow Monster!” Ivan whispered.

The mobs looked exactly like Shadow Giant, except they were smaller. Even though their Stats were much lower than their larger partner, Ivan was still nervous to see all of them.

If he was correct, each Shadow Monster could take away 100 HP per second. Looking at his blood bar, Ivan didn’t think there was any way he could survive until the end. Not to mention, the giant mob would not stand around while the small mobs attacked. Instead of eliminating the Shadow Monsters one by one, Ivan believed his only option was to put all of his effort toward attacking Shadow Giant.

Ivan waved his staff to heal himself while attacking the giant boss. No matter how hard he waved his hands, the best he was able to do was just barely keep himself alive. It was definitely the most difficult mission he had even taken on.

“Iron Man, where are you? Why didn’t I bring him with me this time?” Ivan regretted.

The battle continued.

"Congratulations! Your Poison-ace Mage is activated!"

"Yes!" When the system message came out, Ivan couldn’t hold in his excitement. It was the fifth time his Poison-ace Mage was activated, and Ivan knew by heart how much of an advantage he would have for twenty seconds. With the Poison-ace Mage, Ivan’s ATK, AGI, and HP values greatly improved, especially the 20% increase in his ATK.

“I can make it!” Ivan thought to himself.

Shadow Giant's blood volume continued to decline. Finally, when its blood volume dropped to about 40%, Shadow Giant started to chant. It’s Revenant!

"No way! At 40%?" Ivan didn’t expect to see the Revenant that soon. He remembered the last time Revenant was triggered, it was when Falcarius was down to 20% blood left. As Shadow Giant’s blood volume jumped from 40% to 50%, Ivan suddenly lost all motivation.

“Revenant at 40 percent? Cooling time 30 seconds? How can I kill this boss with such low attack?”

Although the Guru's Heart could constantly increase his blood, the skill was nothing when compared to Shadow Giant. Ivan knew it wouldn’t be easy to kill a boss by himself, however, he didn’t expect to see such powerful skill.

After an hour of battling, Ivan was extremely upset to see that Shadow Giant’s blood volume not only didn’t decrease, but it was up to 55%.

Ivan waved his hands as fast as he could. The t*****e on his mind and body told him that he made the wrong choice by going to face the boss alone. However, on the other hand, his gut instinct was telling him to embrace the opportunity.

 “You can do it! Ivan, how can you give it up at this point?” He gritted his teeth, and at the moment he was more determined than ever.

Suddenly, Ivan sprinkled powder and slammed down his staff. A system reminder interrupted his crazy movements. Ivan rushed to check his stats, he was surprised to see that his Poisoning skill increased to Proficient.

“What's the difference with the Proficient level? Can I use several powders at the same time?” Ivan was confused.

With doubt and anticipation, Ivan took the red powder out of his backpack and threw it at Shadow Giant, immediately followed with green and then yellow powder.

Something magical happened when all of the powders hit Shadow Giant within seconds of each other. All three lit up his body at the same time, when meant Shadow Giant had limited ATK, HP, DEF, and AGI.

"Hahaha, cool," looking at a string of minus number floated over Shadow Giant’s head, Ivan grinned from ear to ear.

"Well, it’s my time!”

Thanks to the green powder, Ivan’s attack was even more powerful than before and because of the limitation, Shadow Giant wasn’t even capable of using Revenant.

Ivan stared closely at Shadow Giant's blood volume bar. There’s no word to describe how nervous Ivan was when he saw the number finally reach 1%. He knew he wouldn’t survive if the Revenant was activated again.

Luckily, rumbling thunder echoed on the system.

As the last strike hit Shadow Giant, his huge body fell to the ground. Ivan could tell how furious he was from his long roar; however, nothing could save him. As Shadow Giant took on last breath, the Shadow Monsters began to disappear. Seconds later Shadow Giant’s body dissolved into a black mist and a golden chest appeared.

Ivan wiped the sweat off his face and relaxed for a moment. He couldn’t believe that he dealt with the boss on his own. Finally, all his efforts paid off.

"Look at this shiny chest! I need to open it!”

Ivan dropped his staff and walked toward the treasure chest.
