Chapter 8

Missy

As I drove back with Daryl we both sat in silence for a while, I am sure he doesn’t know what to say at this point because neither of us expected the events that happened today. I am glad Lacy stayed with Aiden, they both deserved to be happy and I know that would not happen if they remained apart especially if that was because of me. Suddenly Daryl speaking jerked me out of my thoughts, “How are you really doing Missy? I know this is not something you wanted at this point especially after having to recently reject your last dirtbag of a mate. He seems like a good guy, are you serious about giving him a chance to get to know him?”

I know I surprised myself with that willingness when talking to him, but I also knew my wolf wouldn’t appreciate me immediately shutting down our second chance mate without giving him any chance at all. It still will not be easy because I have to know if I give my heart and soul to someone else I need to be sure that it is not going to be crushed again. “I will be okay Daryl, just as I told Kade, I will be taking this extremely slow. It is hard for me to trust anyone after Connor, I am not going to just jump into another mateship. Kade, as you heard, seems to be understanding of my situation so that is hopefully a good sign.” We decided to take the rest of the day to relax. I went to my room and threw on my comfy clothes and popped two big bowls of popcorn. My goal for the rest of the day is to relax with my friend and watch a movie to get my mind off of things.

When I walked to the living room I saw Daryl setting up the movie and there were beverages out on the coffee table. “So what movie did you pick for us to watch? I am not in the mood for any gory horror movies.” He got the menu up and I saw he had picked out Grown Ups, and I had to laugh because Daryl was such a Adam Sandler fan I should have already known. “All right, I can go with that because at least it’s a comedy. I plopped down in the recliner and he took the sofa next to the chair, each of us set up with popcorn and soda.

Around thirty minutes into the movie my phone buzzes next to me, I flipped the screen over to see a text from Connor. Scowling, I deleted it without reading it and went back to the movie. I want to enjoy this movie without him ruining it, but not long later my phone kept buzzing letting me know that I was still getting texts. “Who is that Missy? Is that Kade wanting to line up your date already?” Daryl smirked winking at me then he took in my face and his immediately changed to concern. “Okay, I can tell it’s not him so what’s going on?”

“It’s Conner, I deleted the first text and now he is texting me repeatedly.” I flipped over my phone and saw his string of messages.

Missy, I made a mistake. Please come back.

Honey please, can you respond, I want to work this out.

I don’t want Sarah, what happened with her was something I will regret forever.

Come on please answer me baby, where are you, I will come to you so we can talk.

Missy, come on please! Billy won’t even tell me where you are so we can fix this.

I love you and I want to make things right. Please talk to me. I tried talking to your

parents and mine but I can’t get anything out of anyone.

I read off all the messages that I had gotten to Daryl and he scoffed after I finished. “So are you going to reply to him?” I nodded the only reason why I was going to was to let him know that I am serious about this.

Connor, I will never tell you where I am because I left due to the mistake you made.

There is no coming back from what you did. I thought we were happy in our

relationship, we had even been discussing eventually starting a family, which

I am thankful we didn’t start after what I walked in on. You and Sarah betrayed me

and my trust in you is gone, so you can both have each other now because I will

never come back. No one knows where I am right now and even if they did, they would have specific instructions to not share it with you. Please forget about me and what we had because there is no hope for us anymore. I am going to block your number after I send this because I have moved on and you do whatever you want on your end because it has nothing to do with me any longer. Goodbye

As soon as I sent that message I immediately blocked his number then sent a message to warn Billy what had happened and he may get a visit from Connor because I know my message won’t be received well on his end. As soon as I finished we went back to our movie trying to not let Connor ruin our night of relaxing. I wanted to enjoy my night since I have to work in the morning, and I refused to let him ruin my time.

Connor

I can’t believe how badly I screwed up things with Missy, of course I loved her and we were talking about starting a family soon. I don’t even know what happened with Sarah, she came over when Missy and I had a fight a while back and made a huge mistake giving in to her flirting. Those mistakes kept happening because she always knew how to play me and I had made the decision before Missy caught us to stop what Sarah and I were doing because I didn’t want her. My heart belonged to my mate Melissa and even though we went through the rejection, I still have hope that I can find some way to fix this.

I walked into Billy’s office and he is sitting at his desk with his mate sitting on his lap. They look like they are in the middle of a discussion but looked at me when I walked up to his desk. Billy held a neutral expression as he looked at me while Ellie looked at me with a frown. “What do you need Connor, Ellie and I have things we are working on. Let me remind you that due to your latest actions you're already skating on thin ice with me. You are lucky that I have not stripped you of your title yet, but it could still happen.”

I gulped at his words, “I tried messaging Melissa to beg for forgiveness and to see if I could try to fix things but it didn’t go well. I was wondering if you could help or give me some advice.” Ellie shook her head and got up, “Let me know when you are done here sweetheart, I can’t even start with this one.” She kissed him and then walked out of the room as she glared at me.

Billy sat there looking at me for a moment, “Connor, you lost the best thing you ever had because of Sarah. You both stabbed her in the back, now while Sarah has shown no sign of regret, I can see you do genuinely feel horrible for your actions. However, if you truly did love your mate, you would not have even considered giving into Sarah. The sad part is, it wasn’t just once, you caused her pain repeatedly! My only advice I can give you, and you need to follow is let her go. You caused her enough pain and you don’t deserve to have her back. Let her find happiness somewhere else.”

I hung my head at his words because I did cause her pain, and it was the type of pain no mate should ever have put their soulmate through and I did it more than once. I walked out of his office and through the packhouse trying to make my way back to my room. “Connor, there you are baby, I have been looking everywhere for you. Don’t you think it’s about time I move into your room, it is ridiculous that we are not in the same room now that Melissa is finally gone. Want to help me move my stuff in now and maybe we can have our own little celebration?” Sarah ran her finger down my chest, and I lost it. I grabbed her by the throat and lifted her into the air, “You will not ever be in my room again. NOT NOW, NOT EVER!! I know I am partly to blame for what happened but so are you. You need to stay away from me from now on because I am seconds away from ripping your throat out!” I threw her to the floor and I continued the walk to my room not even looking back at her as she screamed out my name. I need to start thinking of how I can make this up to Missy, and I just pray that she can forgive me for everything I have done to her.
