Chapter 7

Kade Watching Missy walk to the door I couldn’t help but feel like a part of my soul was walking away from me and I felt the need to let her know I planned on following through with my intention of getting to know her. “I will be in touch soon to line up our first date Missy, I look forward to getting to know you.” I watched her reach for the door handle and a voice spoke up from behind me making me grimace, "Kade sweetie, who are these people?” Of all the times for her to walk up, I swung around to face not only Molly but my mother was with her as well. I growled at her, my mother’s eyes grew wide at my reaction. “Molly, we have talked about this many times and you need to treat our Alpha with respect. He is Alpha Kade to you, and if you do not get over this ridiculous idea of being his Luna and stop throwing yourself at him I will lock you down in the dungeons myself to teach you a lesson.” Aiden walked up next to me as he spoke, I could not have asked for a more faithful friend. He knows his sister is getting out of hand and always trying to find a way to be around me. I didn’t appreciate my mother’s encouragement of this behavior either. I swung around to look back at Missy praying she didn’t think that I was already with Molly, it would kill me if I lost my chances with her before I could prove myself to her. The look on Missy’s face was one that was hard to decipher, it looked like she had a mixture of feelings running across her face. I hope she forgives me but I need to do this for her to understand her standing with me and for Molly to get a reality check. “Missy, I would like you to meet my mother Tracy Stone, I will introduce you to my father sometime soon. Next to her is Aiden’s little sister Molly, we all grew up together so she is like a little sister to me. Mom, Molly this is Melissa Turner, she just moved into town and it turns out she is my fated mate. I could see some tension leave Missy’s face and I know I have my work cut out for me due to her former mate. The look on my mother’s face is pure joy, she runs over to Missy and pulls her into a hug. “I am so glad you are finally here, my son has been waiting for you for years.” I could see her hesitate to hug my mom back but she finally did. Molly looked like she was ready to explode, she turned and walked out of the room. Aiden patted me on the back, “She’ll get over it, she needed a reality check and this was it.” I nodded but turned back around to see my mom talking to Missy asking her where she was from and my mate was tense but talked to my mom with a slight smile. I walked up to them and Missy’s eyes found their way to me as I stepped up to her side. “Mom let’s let my mate breathe a bit, this has been a heavy day and I am sure there will be plenty of time in the future to smother her later on.” This earned me a harsh glare from my mother but she turned around and walked off. “Kade, I will meet you in your office after you see your mate off because we have a lot to talk about.” Sighing, I looked back at Missy and saw the slight smile is still there. “Your mother seems nice, don’t be too hard on her. I can tell she loves you a lot.” “I know, she can just be exhausting sometimes but I know she means well. I hope to talk with you soon.” I reached my hand for hers which she allowed and I gave her hand a slight squeeze loving the sparks that shoot up my arm at our touch. I see that she seems to enjoy it too for a moment, but it seems like she snaps out of it quickly and slowly pulls her hand back. I see her turn and she walks out the door with Daryl following closely behind. I feel compelled to follow her but I know she would resent that and I need to take this at her pace. I turn and I walk back towards my office not missing the smirk on Aiden’s face as I pass him and Lacy. “Enjoy your chat with your mother.” I flick him off and hear him chuckle, then I decide he needs to have his own fun. “I wouldn’t laugh there, you need to go find your sister and make sure she knows her place. I will not have her mess things up with Missy because she can’t deal with reality. Knowing what happened with her at her old pack, I will not take kindly to Molly making her uncomfortable here. This is the future home of my Luna and if I have to kick Molly out for disrespect, I won’t hesitate.” Aiden’s joking mood quickly changed to a serious one and he walked off pulling Lacy with him. I walk into my office to see my mother in a chair waiting for me, she is examining her nails as I take my seat behind my desk. “Mother, what can I do for you?” She looked at me with knowing eyes, “Don’t give me that Kade, I want you to fill me in on what’s going on. Who is she? Where is she from? More importantly, why was she leaving instead of staying here?” I sighed and sat back in my seat. “Mom there is a very good reason she is not staying, I need you to listen carefully because nothing can mess this up for me.” I filled my mother in on everything that happened with my mate at her former pack, why she was here, and why she is hesitant to accept our bond right now. My mother’s face throughout the conversation slowly grew to devastation, “That poor girl, no wonder she was so tense earlier. Well, I am here for anything you need, as well as if I can do anything to help her.” “I appreciate that mother, however, the biggest thing you can do to help me right now is to stop encouraging Molly and keep her as far away from Missy and me as possible. I was close to ripping her apart when she addressed me like that in front of Missy. I am hanging on by a thread with her and I still think she is wary of even going on a first date with me. I need to take this at her pace to avoid her rejecting our bond out of fear.” My mother was in tears for me and she pulled me into a hug. “Don’t worry son, I believe this will work out in the end and next time I see Molly I will make sure she knows where she stands. I am sorry for making this hard for you, I truly wanted to do what was best but now I know I was wrong. I am going to go see if your father is home now and fill him in on everything, he may want to meet with you tomorrow.” I led my mother out of the office and returned to my desk, and I tried to focus on some of my paperwork but I couldn’t seem to focus on anything. I flipped open my laptop and started searching for places to take my mate for a first date. The trouble is I don’t know what she likes, hates, dreams about or anything. I knew someone who could help me though, I mindlinked Aiden and asked him to get some date ideas from her friend and send them back to me later tonight. Suddenly my door flew open, Molly was standing there fuming and walked in. “Kade, you need to send that woman away. I will make a much better Luna for you.” I stood and immediately went to her and grabbed her by the throat cutting her rant short. “How dare you walk in here and address me like that. I am your Alpha and you will address me as such, I have given you one too many chances and it seems as though it is still not sinking into your head. You will spend a week in the cells with no visitors and will only be given food and water. You will spend this time reflecting on your disrespect, if this continues you will be kicked out of this pack. I will not have you make my fated mate feel unwelcome in her future home.” Guard walked in and I threw her to the floor and they dragged her out kicking and screaming.
