Chapter 6

I sat there for a minute and then looked at my two friends, “I know you're probably right in but I am not ready for this right now Lacy. I am not ready to let someone get that close to me again, and he is an Alpha and they are way more possessive. Please just tell him I need time, I am not rejecting him but I need space and then I will see what I want to do.” I started to pace the room Dylan and Lacy watched me until I stopped. “I need you both to do this meeting, I need to go back home and give myself some space for now. I am hoping you can convince him to give me space right now, you two go to meet with the Alpha now I am going to head back.” I started heading for the door and went to open it.

“We can try to tell him this Missy, but you know he will not like hearing you are leaving. I can tell you right now he will probably want to go after you and bring you back. I think you should stay here and let's finish our meeting with him first, then you can explain what you want. He is an Alpha and he will not want to hear what you need from either of us.” Sighing I stopped from walking out because I knew she was right, and I am going to need to be the one to explain to him why I need space right now. He will still not like it but maybe he will be more willing to accept why I can’t just give into this bond.

Lacy and Daryl walked up to me pulling me into a group hug, their way of showing their support. When they pulled back I let them walk ahead of me so we could walk back towards Alpha Kade’s office. I tried to control my breathing as Lacy knocked on the door, it was pulled open quickly by a smiling Aiden. He pulled Lacy into his arms and pulled her into the room as Daryl chuckled. I slowly followed Daryl into the office and tried to ignore the need to go directly to Alpha Kade. I kept my head down and sat in one of the chairs that was in front of his desk. I could feel his eyes drilling into me as I sat there, it took everything I had in me not to look up.

“So I am glad we are all here now, let’s start from the beginning. I told Alpha Kade what you told me, but I think it is best that he hears everything from you all. I know that it was a singular event that brought you all here, Missy can you please tell us your story in your own words. I sighed and looked at Aiden because it was easier, “I was mated to the beta of my old pack, the White Moon pack. I had been in immense pain and I ended up walking in on my mate having s** with someone I thought was my friend. I refuse to stay with someone who would willingly betray the mate bond so I rejected him after I told my former Alpha and friend that I needed to leave. He fully supported my choices and when my former mate refused to accept my rejection he used his alpha command to force him to accept my rejection. My former Alpha Billy is more than willing to vouch for us if it is needed because he said that there is always a possibility if we are close to another pack unknowingly.” I sat back in the chair more and stared at my hands in my lap. “I just wanted to get away from my former pack because I knew I couldn’t stay there after what happened with my mate, Lacy and Daryl joined me on this journey because they didn’t want me going alone. I was hoping to just find a human town where I could try to live a regular life and focus on finding myself again. I really didn’t realize we ended up moving to a town that was so close to a pack so I apologize if it is causing any problems.”

“Mate, I would like you to look at me while you speak, please look at me and not Beta Aiden, I am barely holding on to my sanity with you staring at him and not me.” I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, then as I slowly looked at him I opened my eyes. I felt myself being pulled into his deep blue eyes, Alpha Kade’s face was unreadable and it made me curious what was going through his mind. Nova was whimpering in my mind, “Go to mate, he is sad that we are so far away from him. Mate wants us Missy, we need our mate to feel whole.” “Nova, I know you want our mate right now but I am not ready to accept a new mate so quickly. Connor’s betrayal shattered me and I can not just jump into a new bond this quickly. I am sorry this is hurting you too but I need time.” I felt Nova sink into the bank of my mind and I knew this saddened her further. I wish it could be different for me too, but I can’t help the hesitation I was feeling.

“Alpha Kade, I know we are mates and you seem to want this bond, but I am going to need space and time. I know this is hard being who we are but my last mate's betrayal is still raw for me and it will take me time to be able to trust again. If this waiting is too much for you I will understand if you want to reject this bond. Honestly, I didn’t……” His growl stopped me in my place and I could see his eyes were shifting between his dark blue eyes and to black, telling me he was struggling with his wolf. “I will never reject our bond, and yes I did want us to accept each other right away but I understand you have been hurt. We will do the best we can to take this at a pace you want but I would like us to date if you would agree.” I raised my hand to object when he stopped me, “I am not saying we will be alone together, we can do things out in public if you prefer. I would like to get to know you, and for you to know me and ask me any questions that you want. This is just a request, Missy, please, nothing more.”

I looked at him, he seemed like he was being genuine, but then again Connor seemed that way too. I did need to remember that Kade was not Connor, and it would not be fair of me to hold my ex-mates' faults against him no matter how easy that could be to escape this. If he could abide by my need for space when I needed it and to move slowly then I could meet him halfway. “Alright, we can do small dates out in public to get to know each other better, however, if I need space or I need a day to myself I will need you to accept that.” He looked deep into my eyes, “I have waited for you all my life and I will try my best to give you what you need, I just am thankful you are willing to spend time with me.” I nodded and I looked over at my friends, who until this point I forgot were in the room with us along with Beta Aiden. It seems that his beta had moved to where Lacy sat and moved her to sit on his lap to watch our exchange and they all were smiling at us.

Scowling at their amusement I looked back at Kade, “Is there anything else you need from any of us at this point or can we go home?” He seemed sad at my question but nodded. “If you have any questions or need anything verified, Alpha Billy said he will be happy to speak with you. I have his contact information in my phone if you would like it. I pulled out my phone and Kade took the information, “I don’t foresee needing to verify anything, but it would be good to have his information if it is ever needed.” After our exchange I walked to the door and looked back at him, “Thank you for being so understanding, I know that I am not making this easy for you, but this is what I need right now.” He walked around his desk and right up to me taking my hand in his and sparks shot all through me at his touch, “Missy, I will do anything I can to help you accept our bond. The only thing I ask is that you don’t run away because that would kill me now that I have met you.” I slowly nodded, “Lacy, I know that you are here for me but I need you to stay with your mate. It is not fair that you are putting this space between yourselves when this has nothing to do with you.”

Lacy looked like she wanted to object and I just glared at her. “You and Aiden just found each other, please don’t let my insecurities affect you. I am happy that you found each other, you can get your stuff later from the house. Lacy and Aiden smiled at me as I spoke and both finally agreed. Daryl and I started to walk back to the entrance of the pack house when Kade’s voice stopped me, “I will be in touch soon to line up our first date Missy, I look forward to getting to know you.” I reached for the door handle when another voice stopped me, “Kade sweetie, who are these people?”
