It was still early when they got back from the lake picnic and she couldn’t stop smiling as she sat on her bed with her phone in her lap, waiting for the text notification from Trevor, because he always lets me know that he made it somewhere safe. Lydia couldn’t believe that she had her first kiss and it was everything she ever hoped it would be. And then he asked her to the homecoming dance, did this make them a couple or something. She sure hoped so. Her phone finally dinged with a notification. Trevor, “Hi, beautiful, I am home and just wanted to let you know that I am hanging out with Michael and Davis tonight and I’ll call you later before bed.” She texted back “OK handsome.” And with a thumb’s up emoji and smiley face. Now she had about six hours to spare before bedtime and another call from Trevor.       Lydia decided to take a quick shower and change into something comfortable. Then afterwards she wanted to lay in bed and binge watch her favorite shows. As she lay in bed watching her show she couldn’t help but to touch her lips and remember what his lips felt like hers. That was her first kiss and it was amazing. She got her phone out and clicked on Samantha’s’ name she wanted to let her know what had happen. “Hey, girl what are you up to?”   Samantha texted right back, “Oh, nothing much just chilling out at home. So, how was your date at the lake?” Lydia smiled and replied, “It was wonderful. My cousin Lily couldn’t help but flirt with Trevor but he seemed like he didn’t even seem to notice. We went for a walk afterwards and he asked if I was jealous of how Lily was flirting with him. And of course, I said yes, I like him and he said, ‘I only eyes for you.’ (swoon) but anyway after he said that he kissed me. Samantha that was my first kiss and it was absolutely amazing.” Samantha texted back, “I figured he would do it sometime. That guy has never looked at anyone the way he looks at you. I am happy for you.” Lydia replied back, “Thank you and I almost forgot he asked me to the homecoming dance. Want to go dress shopping tomorrow?” Samantha sent an excited smile emoji and said “Of course girl, how about lunch?” Lydia replied “That sounds good. See ya then.”    It was finally around 7 at night when she felt her stomach growl, Lydia went downstairs and saw her parents cuddled on the sofa watching a movie so she went to the kitchen quietly, so she wouldn’t disturb them. Lydia thought it was so cute. She was romantic at heart. Some teens would find it disturbing but she wanted to have a love like theirs one day. She opened the fridge and grab the fixings to make a sandwich. When she was done, she made it made it back upstairs and sat on her bed to finish her show. She put her empty plate on her desk to take downstairs first thing in the morning. She went across the hall to the bathroom to get ready for bed. As she came back and her phone going off she grabbed it and smiled at the picture of her and Trevor. She took the picture that day at the lake when they had their walk after the kiss. She flopped on her bed and smiled while she answered, “Hi, their handsome, you are calling a bit earlier than I expected. How was your time with Davis and Michael?” Trevor laughed at her way of answering the phone, “Hi, Beautiful, I know it is earlier than expected but I couldn’t wait to talk to you. Davis, Michael and I went to throw the ball for a little bit and came back and played on the game console. What about you? What did you do for the time I left you and until now?” “Oh, you know me, I talked to Samantha and made plans with her for tomorrow to go dress shopping. I watched a little bit of my shows. And just got done getting ready for bed.” Trevor laughed a little at that, “I am glad you made plans with Samantha. Just make sure you tell me what color your dress is going to be so I can kind of match with you. I know its not a fancy dance like prom or anything and we don’t really have to dress up to match but I want to.” “Of course, I think that would be sweet. I can’t wait for it.” Trevor “Me either. You will be the most beautiful girl there. I got to let you go. I got to finish the dishes for mom and get myself ready for bed. Good night, Beautiful.” Lydia smiled and said, “Good night, Handsome.”             The next morning, I woke up with a ‘Good Morning, Beautiful. I hope you have a wonderful time in town with Samantha. Text or call me later.” This definitely put a smile a mile wide of Lydia’s face. She thought she had the sweetest boyfriend ever. She couldn’t wait to see him tomorrow. She sent a reply with a ‘Good Morning Handsome, and we will definitely have a good time. I haven’t been shopping in a while. I hope you have great day with your family today. Ill call as soon as we get back this afternoon. Xoxo’ Lydia put her phone down on the bedside table and got up and went to her closet and grabbed a cute yellow sun dress and some strappy sandals for today. She went across of the hall and got herself a shower. When she was done dressing, she went downstairs and saw her mom at the table. “Hi, Mom, Samantha should be by soon, we are going shopping for our homecoming dress. We should be back after lunch.” Her mom said, “Sounds fun. Do you need some money? I can give you what you need. How about you take my spare credit card and only spend what you need ok?” Lydia squealed and hugged her mom and kissed her cheek. “Thanks mom”. Lydia went to the fridge to grab some juice and pour it in her glass as soon as she finished her juice Samantha was blowing her horn outside. Mrs. Wilson shook her head and told Lydia “She knows she can come inside, instead blowing her horn all the time.” “Yeah, Mom, she knows but she is in a hurry. Which is always her state. But I like her.” “Have fun today sweetie. Dad should be home for dinner.”     As they made their way down to the dress shop, Lydia turned and told Samantha what Trevor said about matching their outfits. And that she thought it was sweet. Samantha giggled at her friend’s enthusiasm over such a silly thing. They finally pulled up to the store and got out. Lydia turned toward Samantha and said, “This place looks fancy. I can’t wait to see what choices they have.”  Samantha grabbed her arm and rushed inside to get started looking all the options. The store worker greeted them with a smile and asked if they needed any help finding anything. They both said “No” in unison. The store worker smiled and said to just let her know if they changed their minds. They both nodded and said a thank you. Lydia went over to a manikin that had a beautiful red strapless dress hanging on it. She turned towards Samantha and asked, “How about this one?” Samantha squealed and said, “That would look great on you. Let’s see if they have the same one on the racks if not, you can ask the store worker to get it off for you to try on.” Lydia nodded and went to look through the racks and found another beautiful gown that was a light blue with a halter neck and lace overlay. She grabbed that one and went to try it on. She looked in the mirror and she really liked it. The dress hugged her hips and went down right above her knee. She stepped out to show Samantha and Samantha smiled and said, “I like it but try the red dress on. I think it would look better on you.” Lydia nodded and went back in there to change back and go ask the store worker if they could take the dress off of the manikin so she can try the red dress on. Store worker said, “Of course.” Lydia followed the lady over and waited to get the dress and take it to the dressing room. When she finally got the dress on, she stood and look it herself and thought that this dress was the one. She stepped out and showed Samantha the dress and Samantha smiled and applauded and said, “Yes, that is definitely the one. Now we have to find you some shoes.” Lydia looked at Samantha and asked, “What are you wearing to the dance? Have you picked you one out yet?” Samantha said, “Of course, I already gotten mine a week or so ago. It is black with flare skirt.” Lydia smiled and thought that would look gorgeous on her friend. They finally went to check out after finally found some shoes. They made it home just in time for her dad to be pulling up. Lydia grabbed her bag out of the back seat and thanked Samantha for going with her. And said they would see each other tomorrow at school. She watched her friend leave and turned around and headed inside. “Hi, Daddy, how was your day,” and kissed him on the cheek. Her dad smiled and said, “It wasn’t so bad, just had to do some inventory and make sure the guys had stuff to work with tomorrow.” Lydia smiled and went upstairs and hung her dress up and put her new shoes in the closet. She picked up her phone and sent Trevor a text, “Red” with a smiley face on it. Trevor texted immediately and said, “That will look amazing on you. I can’t wait to see you in it.” Lydia smiled and texted back, “Only 6 more days handsome, and I can’t wait to see you dressed up too. I am really excited about it.” Trevor said, “I will make it rememberable for you.” “Ill call you later before bedtime. Talk to you later Handsome.” Trevor texted, “Alright, Beautiful.”
