It was the night of Homecoming and as she was getting ready in her room with Samantha, Lydia’s mom came in and said, “Oh, Lydia you look absolutely stunning. I just wanted you know that your dad will be home in just a few. He wouldn’t miss this night for the world. I got something for you that would look really look good with that dress. Hold on, I’ll be right back.” Lydia smiled at Samantha and waited by her vanity for her to bring whatever she was going to bring to her. A few minutes later her mom came in and held out a gorgeous pearl necklace and put it around her neck and warned her to be careful with it because it was her grandmothers. Lydia nodded and hugged her mom and thanked her. Her mom left for them to finish getting ready. After doing her hair half up with some curls and put her shoes on and helped Samantha with her hair, did the door bell ring. Lydia squealed and got nervous. “Does this really look good?” She asked Samantha. Samantha hit lightly on the shoulder and said, “Of course, I wouldn’t lie to you or your mother. Now let’s go down and see your man. I am sure you dad will like it too.” Lydia grabbed her pocket book that matched her dress and went down the stairs with Sam. As she got to the end, she saw Trevor in a black dress shirt and red tie and black dress pants. He looked absolutely breathtaking. He was smiling at her and then took her hand and said in her ear, “You look absolutely beautiful.” then he kissed her cheek. Lydia blushed knowing she had an audience. She turned toward the living room and saw her dad with a smile of his own. “Lydia darling, you look just like your mother. So, beautiful.” Lydia hugged him and thanked him. Her dad turned to Trevor, “I don’t have to warn you about curfew or safe driving, do I?” Trevor looked serious and replied, “No, Sir, I will have her home by midnight and I follow all the driving rules. Her safety is my main priority, Sir.” Mr. Wilson nodded his head and shook his hand. “Good, don’t make me hunt you down, Mr. Sanders.” Lydia said, “Alright, lets take some pictures, so we can get to the dance now.” Lydia stood with Trevor for a few pictures, then some with just her and Samantha and then three of them.
Trevor opened both doors for her and Samantha, Lydia thought that was rather sweet of him. She sat up front with Trevor and waited for him to get in and drive to the school. She was rather excited and kind of nervous. Trevor reached over and held her hand and said, “You don’t have to be so nervous; I will take care of you I promise.” Lydia smiled and squeezed his and to say thank you. They finally reached the school and Trevor once again opened the doors for the girls to get out. Samantha said, “Well, Thank you. I see that chivalry isn’t dead after all.” And smirked at him. Lydia replied to her comment saying, “I got lucky with one of the best ones.” And smiled at Trevor and he wrapped an arm around her and both of the in and turned towards Samantha and asked, “Wasn’t your date meeting you here?” Samantha gave a small smile and said, “I was but he bailed at the last minute saying he had come down with something. So, I am flying solo, I guess I’ll just have steal Michael or Davis.” And winked at him. Trevor, the nice guy and all that he is, offered to have a dance with her too. Lydia smiled and couldn’t believe he was her boyfriend. He was so perfect. Once they got inside they met up with Michael and Davis and started talking. The music was blaring and looked out on the dance floor and she felt her face blush. Some of the dances were a little inappropriate for school functions. But turned back to the conversation at hand. Michael was looking at her and said, “Wow, Lydia you look beautiful. Its too bad you aren’t my date. You make all the girls jealous.” Lydia shied away a little behind Trevor shoulder and blushed at the compliment. “Thanks, Michael.” Trevor was smiling at her, while holding her hand. He seemed happy to have with him tonight. They locked eyes and smiled at each other. “Want to dance?” Trevor asked. Lydia shook her head and said, “Let’s get something to drink first. Then once it’s a slow song we will dance, handsome” Trevor laughed a little and let go of her hand and said, “I will be right back, going to get our drinks. Don’t go running off on me now.” Left her with a wink. She turned back towards Michael, Davis and his date and Samantha. Samantha grabbed Michael by the hand and dragged out to the dance floor yelling at him, “I won’t take no for an answer, so come on. Let’s see your moves.” Michael pretending to drag his feet like he didn’t really won’t to go, turned to them and mouthed, “Help”. We all burst out laughing and shrugging. “You are on your own buddy.” Davis said. Lydia found herself smiling and laughing and having a good time. Trevor came back and handed her a glass of punch. He leaned down and asked, “Are you having a good time?” Lydia looked up at him and kissed his cheek. “Thank you for the punch, and yes I am having a great time.” Trevor looked a little surprise at her kiss. Then the music turned into a slow song. She grabbed his hand and said, “It’s our turn. Let’s go.” Trevor didn’t resist, he was happy to get this chance to be alone with her a little. He put his hands of her hips and she put her hand around his neck, then they started moving slowly to the music, while looking into each other eyes. Lydia thought to herself that she could stare into his green eyes get lost, like wandering around the greenest fields. Lydia smiled to herself and started twirling her fingers in his hair. It was so soft, like silk. Trevor leaned down to her ear and said, “All the girls here are envying you right now. You are by far the most stunning girl here.” She blushed and looked around and saw some girls with jealous looks on their faces. She didn’t know how she felt about being the center of attention. But she has to get use to this, with being the star quarterbacks’ girlfriend. She turned back to look up at Trevor and said, “You know I don’t like to be center of attention but I think girls are really jealous that I got you and you are the most handsome guy here. They all want to be me because of you. Not because I am any more beautiful than they are.” Trevor smiled at her and brought her closer to him and said, “Agree to disagree.” Then he kissed her on the lips. She wasn’t big on PDA because this was her first relationship and she was shy but as he kissed her on the dance floor nothing mattered but the two of them at the moment. They finally broke apart and gasped for breath. Her pulse was going so fast. “You are incredible.” Trevor whispered in her ear. Then she heard the mic on stage and turned around breaking the moment. Mrs. Daily was on stage trying to get everyone’s attention to announce the Homecoming King and Queen. “The Homecoming King is Trevor Sanders. The Homecoming Queen is Samantha Pritchford.” There was a lot of applause and yelling of congratulations as they made their way to the stage to accept their sashes. They received them and were told to dance with each for the first dance. Lydia wasn’t jealous in the least. She knew she had nothing to worry about it. They were both friends and soon it will be her turn with her man. As they danced, she went to grab some punch and Douglas came up beside her and touched her elbow and flinched away. “Can I help you?” She asked as she turned around and spoke to Douglas. He raised his eyebrows and laughed a little. “This game you are playing, is getting kind of old. You coming in here looking like sin and expect me not to notice. I know you and Trevor are together but I know you are little tease.” She was shocked and disgusted at what he was saying to her. “Douglas, I don’t know what you are going on about but I did not dress up to impress anyone but my boyfriend. And you need to back off.” Douglas grabbed her wrist really tight and she winced in pain. Trevor came up right behind him and looking terrifying. “Douglas, you need to get your hands off my girlfriend.” Douglas glanced around at him and smirked, “You need to tell your girlfriend to stop being a tease wearing a dress like this.” Waving his hand up and down in front of Lydia to prove his point. Trevor looked so red in the face, you could imagine steam coming out of his ears. “My girlfriend was not trying to be a tease to you or anyone else. And you need to leave her alone. Come on, Beautiful, let’s get out of here and get you home.” Trevor held her close to him while they walked back to their group of friends to let them know that he was taking her home. She felt safe in his arms. She couldn’t believe what Douglas had said to her, she assumed he was drunk or something. He had never been that pushy towards her. I mean beside the time he wanted to show her around town. But that has been over a month ago. They made their way to Trevor car and he held her for a moment before he opened the door for her. “Are you okay?” She looked up at him and smiled and said, “You got there in time. So, I am fine. Thanks for being my own personal hero.” Trevor smiled and said, “Anytime, Beautiful.” And kissed her with so passion that she could barely breath. They finally made their way back towards her house and she realized that it was close to midnight. True to his word, they made it just in time. The light on the porch was on, telling her that either one of her parents was waiting up for her. She didn’t know which one. Trevor got out and walked around the car to open her door for her and reached out to help her out. She happily accepted his help. They walked hand and hand to the front porch and she turned toward him and hugged him. “Thanks for tonight it was a blast. And congratulations on the whole Homecoming King thing. Who would have thought?” She said while looking up into his eyes. Trevor laughed a little at that. “I am glad we went together and thanks. But having the title of Homecoming King isn’t all that big. It just a title. And you how I am about putting titles on myself. I better get going or we both will be in trouble.” Lydia stood on her tiptoes and kissed him with as much passion as he did in the parking lot earlier. “Good night, Beautiful, I will text you to let you know I made it home.” “Good night, Handsome. And I will look forward to the text.” She waited for him to get in the car before she went inside to find her mom waiting up for her. “Hi, Mom, I am home and headed upstairs to shower and get into the bed.” Her mom stopped her and asked, “Did you have fun?” Lydia smiled so big and nodded her head vigorously and blushed a little. “G’night Mom”
