Chapter 10 Lydia

It has been three weeks since the day that Trevor promised to help me out and carry my books to class, and it has been wonderful. He has made her laugh and smile so much and Lydia thought that he was the sweetest boy she has ever seen. Today was the day that her mom was taking her to the doctor to see if it was time for them to take caste off. There was a nagging feeling in the back of her mind that once she gets the caste off that their relationship wouldn’t be so close anymore, she was relying on him too much now but she didn’t want it to end. I enjoyed being with him and getting to know him. Lydia’s mom had interrupted her thoughts “How are you feeling, sweetie?” Lydia glanced over to her mom and replied, “I’m nervous about getting it off, this is the first time I ever had a caste before. But also what if they decide to leave it on for awhile longer. I do not want this on anymore. Especially with the picnic at the lake this weekend. Trevor has been so amazing in helping me at school in carrying my books for me and everything, but I don’t want to keep relying on him for much longer.” Her mom reached over patted her knee and said, “Why don’t you invite Trevor along to the picnic and we can thank him properly for helping you out.” Lydia blushed. “Sure, Mom I’ll send him a text and ask him.” Lydia grabbed her phone and strolled through her contacts until she reached his name. “Trevor, hi, we are having an annual family picnic at the lake this Saturday and I was hoping to invite you to come. I know your game is Friday night instead on a Saturday but you don’t have to come. My mom just wanted to thank you for helping me out at school.” She hit send. Lydia she knew she was rambling in the message but he just made a slightly nervous. Ever since he started walking her to class and getting to know each other. Her small crush from the beginning of school has only grew into something bigger. They finally made it to the doctor’s office. They went in and signed in and sat and waited for them to call them back. As they sat down her phone dinged with an incoming text message. She read the message, “You can tell your mom that there is no thanks necessary, I would help you whenever and wherever. You can tell her I will definitely be there. I can’t wait, I’ll make sure to wear my swimsuit. I can’t wait to see you without that caste and in a swimsuit. (wink emoji)” Lydia blushed so red, she was sure that her mom could see and get worried about her. The nurse came out in the lobby and called my name and we followed her to this light pink room and we sat down. The nurse turned around and said that the doctor would be in soon. “What did Trevor say about Saturday?” her mom asked. Lydia blushed a light pink thinking of what he said to her. “He said to tell you that he need to be thanked because he would do it again in a heartbeat. He also said that he would love to join us.” Her Mom clapped and smiled and said, “I glad he is coming. You two have become very close. Do you like him Lydia?” Lydia face was probably redder than a tomato, she normally tells her mom everything but this is different. “Yeah, I think I do. He is so sweet, funny and I can talk to him about anything and he wouldn’t judge.”  The doctor came in, “Hi, I’m Doctor Taylor and I will be taking care of your arm for you. Let’s get an x-ray and see what we are looking at and see if it’s time to take it off. Shall we?” Lydia and her mom nodded and left the room to get the x-ray done and wait back in the room they came from while the results came back. “I’m glad you told me that you like Trevor. I like him too. He is such a respectable young man and he definitely puts others above himself. I respect that. It such a shame that his dad isn’t here to see how well he has turned out. I am sure his mother is proud. I would like to meet her too.” I smiled at my mom because Mrs. Sanders is such a sweet heart and I believe her and my mom would get along great. A few minutes later the doctor came back in and said that her arm has healed nicely and that they will be taking it off today. Lydia was jumping up and down in her mind excited. As they prepped for the removal of her caste the nurse asked if she wanted to keep it since she had some signatures on there. She nodded her head. After the doctor’s visit and everything. Lydia’s mom asked, “You want to go out for ice cream and shop for a new bathing suit for this weekend?” Lydia nodded her head excitedly because she would never turn down ice cream or new clothes. They got to swimsuit store and they both went in and looked around. Her mom showed her one that was blue with purple stripes, she shook her head she didn’t like those two colors together especially stripes. She looked for awhile and finally found one that she wanted to try on. She got one of the sale persons to let her try it on. She went in and put it on and she gasped because she absolutely loved it. Red with white polka dots with a little ruffle at the top of the bottoms and the bottom of the top. It was a nice bikini, it fit her every curve. She yelled through the door, “I think I found it Mom.” She opened the door and let her mom see her in it. Mrs. Wilson nodded her head and said, “It looks lovely on you, sweetie. Ready to check out and get some ice cream on the way home?” “Yes, let me change back and we can leave.” Lydia went back and changed back into her dress. She felt better now that her caste was off. It felt a little weird just for the past three weeks or so she was fighting with it because it itched and it was so hard to get dress or anything. Tomorrow was Friday and school was out due to a teacher work day. She had an extra day to get use to the feeling of it off again. She sent her friend Samantha a text, “Hey Sam, I got a new swim suit and my caste off.. super excited. Trevor was invited to our annual family picnic this Saturday. I am kinda nervous about it. You know I like him and this will be the first time we see each other in our swim wear.” Samantha texts back saying, “OMG, I can’t believe you got your caste off how does it feel? And you have got to send me a picture of your new swimsuit.” Before she got undress she took a quick picture and sent it to her. “DANG, Lydia looking HOT!!” Lydia blushed and asked “Do you think it’s too much? Do you think he would like it?” Samantha replied, “Most definitely. Text me on how it goes alright.” Lydia replied with a winking emoji. She finished getting dressed and met her mom out by the register to check out. “Let’s go to our favorite ice cream shop.” Her mom said and walked to the car. Lydia and her mom made it the shop within about fifteen minutes and got their favorite flavors and ate it in silence and then left to go home. It was around lunch and her mom had to go back to work for awhile. Lydia decided to take a nap for a little while. She had already gotten her homework the previous day. Later on she woke up and notice she had a text from Trevor. “Hi, beautiful just wanted to see how everything went with the doctor this morning. I am at home now after practice. I missed you at school today. I am definitely looking forward to Saturday. Text when you can.” Lydia smiled and replied, “Hey handsome, I am doing well, just took a little nap but my arm is caste free. It feels little weird. But I’ll get use to the feeling of having it off soon. I am looking forward it as well.”
