“Am I okay?” I ask the doctor. “Why am I in this room? Do I have a family?”
He is feeding me soup with a smile. He almost looks harmless like this. I guess that’s one benefit of being good-looking. It’s difficult to imagine you doing something sinister.
“You were in a coma for a year, Lu. I moved you out of the hospital and took care of you myself. We’ll give it a few more days. I’m just making sure you’re ready to go.”
He clears the table, checking his watch. “I have to go buy something.”
I reach for his hand, smiling at him. “Thank you, James. I don’t know how I scored someone as handsome and caring as you. A doctor, on top of that. I hope I can get my memories back soon.”
