Chapter1
Autumn was deep dew, with silent mountains and forests and thick fog. Tree shadows slant across as if standing within the pale space of a hideous ghost shadow.
In the middle of the silence, two ladies were slowly walking towards the valley.
The shorter one was a young girl named Lilia, and she was wearing a watery green gauze dress, had a fair complexion and lively eyes. Her long hair was coiled up, and its color was like snow. The woman beside her has normal, ebony black hair.
The black-haired woman's appearance seemed more mature, but she was only about twenty years old. She was wearing a simple and elegant red-waisted skirt covered with a black narrow-sleeved gauze. The thick black hair on the back of her head was pulled up casually, but it was not hard to see how beautiful she was. In her arms, she was holding a small baby who was sleeping soundly.
The child, Emir, who was only three or four months old, was carefully wrapped in soft swaddling clothes made of light blue brocade. His soft little body was dressed in silk-tailored clothes. On his head, he wore a delicate red embroidered fish hat, with a few strands of soft silvery hair exposed from under the brim of the hat.
"Just how long will it take to get there?" Facing the boundless fog in the mountain forest in front of her, the silver-haired girl was quite a bit discouraged, pouting and muttering, "We've been walking in this mountain for three days, and we haven't found the Misty Valley."
In fact, Sophia was also a little hesitant but kept a calm and relaxed tone, "Don't be hurry. This mountain covers a vast area, and we've only traveled less than half of it in three days."
Lilia didn't buy it. "You're tricking me, cunning human. I shouldn't have listened to you at the beginning, saying that you could bring me to my brother; since I left the wolf realm with you, I haven't had a single day of good life. I don't have enough to eat or wear, and I'm suffering from starvation and a cold."
Before she finished speaking, she huffed and raised her foot, kicking a stone in front of her. Her foot force was quite strong, and the brick-sized stone flowed out without even hearing the sound of landing for a while.
Sofia calmly glanced at Lilia and thought, You are not eating less and inquiring where the mutton restaurant is in every place you go.
Lilia was still indignantly mumbling, "If it is not for the sake of the Emir, I will not bodyguard you."
Lilia's complaint was interrupted by a loud thud.
Both of them raised their heads at the same time and looked towards the mountain forest in front of them.
However, the fog was so thick that they could see no more than three feet at a glance.
"Is that the sound of a stone falling into the water?" Lilia's watery eyes were filled with bewilderment, "I always feel that something isn't normal, but I can't tell."
Sophia looked straight ahead and calmly, "It's the sound. There's no sound coming from anything else in this forest besides us."
Lilia suddenly realized and immediately moved her ears, "Within ten miles, there are only three of us left alive."
The wolves had excellent audio-visual abilities, even better after shifting into human form.
"The temperature seems to be dropping as well." Goosebumps involuntarily rose on the back of Lilia's white neck, "It's getting colder and colder."
Sophia also felt the sudden onslaught of coldness, but immediately, placing the child's small arm that was sticking out beyond the swaddling clothes and shielding her hand in front of the child's head and face, her tone of voice was as stubborn as ever, "Abnormality means that we're almost there. Keep walking." After saying that, he resumed his steps.
Lilia followed behind and said anxiously, "Are you really sure? Do you know what's in the Misty Valley? There are only two possibilities: either the environment here is not suitable for birds and beasts to survive, or this place has been owned by something more powerful, so ordinary birds and beasts do not dare to intrude. My brother was the one who owned the territory back then, and he would kill anyone who dared to intrude."
Sophia's footsteps didn't stop, and she said briefly, "Windbag."
Lilia was so angry that she stomped her feet, "How can it be so easy to ask about fate? Even if it will kill you, do you still want to take Emil with you?"
Sofia's footsteps finally stopped, holding the child for a moment of hesitation, and turned back to Lilia, "If you don't dare to go, just hold Emil and wait for me here; it's fine for me to go alone."
Lilia said, "It's not that I don't dare to go. Let's think deeply. At least we should figure out the situation of the Misty Valley first, right?"
Lilia sighed softly, "Just like you said, it's hard to ask about someone's fate. How many people in the world can figure it out without entering the Misty Valley? Instead of being fearful and not moving forward, it's better to let go, and I don't want to continue suffering like this anymore."
Lilia pursed her lips, tangled for a while, gave up and took the lead, huffing and puffing as she overtook Sofia. She was hidden in the thick fog ahead, her indignant voice enduring, "Don't think that I'm worried about you that I decided to accompany you. I'm doing it for Emil. You human beings are really strange; when my brother was alive, I didn't see how much you loved him; every day, you refused him with a heart of stone, but when he died, you started to love him as deep as the sea, you are a woman who is cruel and heartless! Anyway, I objected when my brother brought you back to the wolf realm, and the result proved that I was right!"
Sophia said nothing and smiled helplessly, thinking, so wordy at such a young age, saying the same thing over and over again, my ears are going to wear out calluses.
Continuing to walk toward the front, the two saw a river flowing in the forest. They turned toward the upper reaches of the river and finally came to the entrance of a canyon.
Both sides of the mountains towered into the clouds, and a narrow but deep river was hovering like a winding black dragon during that period.
