Though small, this tavern excelled in quality and affordability, allowing it to thrive for years on the competitive Pearl Street.
At this moment, the first floor of the tavern was almost completely taken over by the Tiger Escort Agency, with a few tables filled with bodyguards dressed in the agency's deep red uniforms.
Tiger is the largest and most reputable escort agency in the southern continent, with an extensive range of services that almost cover the entire Mountain and Sea continent.
This escort team had just finished a delivery and was gathered in the tavern to rest.
At the square wooden table next to the counter sat three strong men. The one in the center was the chief escort, with the deputy chief on his right and the squad leader on his left.
The tavern's server placed three pots of wine on the tray, setting two on their table before rushing toward the window, and the three men's eyes followed the movement closely.
The silver-haired man in white by the window had traveled with their escort team, yet no one was familiar with him. It wasn't that they didn't want to get to know him; instead, his personality was so reclusive that it was difficult to strike up a conversation.
The three men observed the solitary figure for a moment, and the bodyguard was the first to look away, murmuring to the chief escort, "Do you think Will would continue to travel with us in the future?"
The silver-haired man had suddenly joined them midway through their journey after a thunderstorm shattered the seal suppressing the mountain ghosts. The famished mountain ghosts burst free and began a rampage, drawn to the scent of flesh at their encampment. Just when they seemed doomed, the silver-haired man appeared out of nowhere, single-handedly slaying the mountain ghosts and saving their lives. The chief escort then invited him to join their team.
Strangely, this exceptionally skilled man didn't even know his own name, nor did he recall any memories of his past, as if he were a blank slate. To make things easier, the others temporarily referred to him as Will.
The chief escort looked away and answered the bodyguard's question, "Most likely he won't. When he joined us, his goal was very clear: he wanted the money for this escort job. Once he saves up enough, he plans to head north."
The deputy chief asked in surprise, "What does he want to do up north?"
The chief replied, "I've asked him that too, but he said he didn't know. He just felt he should go north."
The deputy chief nodded slowly, speculating, "Maybe his home is in the north? Even though he's lost his memory, his subconscious still wants to return home. No matter the race, everything in this world ultimately seeks to return to its roots."
The chief escort remained noncommittal, his gaze drifting back to Will by the window. After a moment of hesitation, he said, "But I can't shake the feeling that he resembles someone I've encountered before—a certain prominent figure."
The bodyguard asked curiously, "What kind of prominent figure?"
The chief lowered his voice, "He bears a resemblance to the Lord of the Wolf Realm."
"Will? The Lord of the Wolf Realm?" The bodyguard was so shocked his eyes nearly popped out. "That's a legendary figure known worldwide, the one who established the Mountain and Sea Ranking! Will doesn't even know his own name; how could he be the Lord of the Wolf Realm?"
The chief insisted, "Regardless of his appearance or name, his unparalleled aura and presence certainly resemble it."
The bodyguard remained skeptical, "Have you ever seen the Wolf King?"
The chief escort replied, "I'd never say it if I hadn't seen him before."
However, the deputy chief also felt it was unlikely. "When our escort team negotiated with the Ice Chain System, I went with you to the Wolf Realm, and we caught a glimpse of the Wolf King. But we only saw him from afar, not up close. Besides, the Wolf Realm has changed dramatically since then; Skoll has long since died."
The chief escort had no rebuttal and sighed softly, "Perhaps I was mistaken."
"You probably were," the bodyguard said, still convinced that Will was not Skoll. Yet, his gaze showed an undeniable hint of envy as he looked at Will. "But to be honest, Will is indeed handsome. Since coming to the city, he's drawn the attention of countless young girls along the way."
There is a saying that fine feathers make fine birds, but Will is different. Dressed simply in a plain white robe, he exudes an air of elegance, contrasting with the ethereal quality of his attire. If it weren't for his icy demeanor, as if he were a statue carved from ice, the young women would likely have rushed forward to claim him.
Even so, it didn't stop those young women from stealing glances at him.
The bodyguard sighed, "I wish I could enjoy such treatment as Will and I would not be single at this age."
The chief escort snorted, "Do you have his physique, looks, or even presence?"
The bodyguard felt defeated. "No…"
"Alright, let's not talk about that." The deputy chief consoled him, "Will is also single even with the look, right?"
The bodyguard brightened up. "You're right! Come, let's drink!"
The small tavern was bustling with noise and activity, yet Will remained detached from the commotion, occupying a corner, his mind preoccupied with thoughts: Who am I? Where is my home?
