Natalie POV
The entire bar had turned into a bloody fight ground. Cole was being strangled by the very man I hated the most, my ex-husband. Fear mixed with anger rushed through my veins, fueling my battered mood.
"What the hell is going on here?" I yelled, glaring at the mess that they caused.
"Natalie, this bastard dared to show his face here," Cole struggled to talk due to the grip on his neck.
I pushed through the damaged tables, stopping in front of my brother's attacker.
"Let him go," I ordered, glaring daggers at him.
"If I do, you will have to come with me sunshine," he said, smirking as he added more pressure on Cole's neck.
"What an unpleasant surprise, Mario. Did you lose your way while traveling across the country? or did you forget your brains somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean?" I queried boldly.
Mario's eyes sharpened in amusement as he let go of my brother's neck. Cole falls to the ground coughing for air while Tim rushes over to him protectively.
I made sure he was okay before focusing my attention on my dangerous ex-husband.
"You have gotten bolder, Sunshine," he said, taking slow heavy steps towards me.
I feel my belly churn as my thighs ache in between and my body's heat increases hotter than before. Mario's gaze hitches my breath like it did in the past. Lord, how is it that I am still affected by this man even after three years of being apart.
"You have changed so much Sunshine, sadly for you, I like it," he flirted.
I scoffed at his ridiculous joke and put a hand in front of him, giving our bodies space.
"What brings you here?" I asked, my voice, surprisingly hoarse. I can't believe that I am horny for a man who abandoned me three years ago.
He notices how my chest falls at intervals and chuckles, giving me the space I needed.
I let out a silent air, making sure that no one noticed my current embarrassed mode.
Mario turns his back on me, looking around the bar calculatedly before he answered my question.
"I own this bar," he declared.
"You must be out of your mind. Leave now before I change my mind on causing you damage," I threatened him even though I knew it was useless to do so to Mario. He was a terror himself and a threat to mankind.
"Don't be so rude, Sunshine. We can talk this out somewhere safe and quiet," he muttered with a knowing smile playing on his lips.
I knew better than anyone that there was no such place as safe when Mario was present. However, if I go against his wish, he might end up tearing the entire bar down and hurt Cole and Tim in the process.
"Fine. but once we are done talking, you leave," I grumbled.
He nodded, following my lead as I trudged towards the kitchen. Cole protested against me being alone with Mario. I assured him of being fine and left him under the care of Tim.
Once we were in the kitchen, I kept my distance from him. Using the kitchen counter to separate us.
"so what is this about?" I queried, folding my arms over my chest.
He remained silent, eyes roaming over my body in a sizzling and obscene way that made my heart pound against my chest.
God knows how much I am trying not to fumble in front on this devilish man.
"Are you going to answer me or...what?" I stuttered, unsure of my own words.
He took a step closer, keeping his gaze on me like a predator. The hair at the back of neck began to rise, before I knew what was happening, my back was pressed against the wall and Mario sandwiched on my body.
I trembled, hyperventilating as panic set in.
"Are you scared of me?" he asked, his voice deep and low.
"Why would I be scared of you?" I replied, struggling with my breath.
He puts his left hand on my neck, I expect pain and choking but he rubs his fingers on my pulse gently, feeling the rush.
"How have you been?" he surprisingly asked. I would have fallen for his calm charm if I didn't know better.
"You have no right to ask me about my well-being." I glared at him.
"I came here because of the debt your father owes," he quickly changed the subject, moving away from me.
The heat of his skin disappears and the cold of the night embraces me thanks to the open window on the left.
"So you are telling me that you are the investor my mother talked about?" I enquired.
"Yes, six years ago, your father came to my company demanding for a loan to start up his business. I personally gave him the money to start up making his business a collateral," he narrated, looking at me intently.
His words made sense to me as I pieced them together.
"Is that how you met me?" I asked, chewing my inners lips nervously.
"No. I met you without knowing your relationship with him, Sunshine."
"Stop calling me that. I am not your Sunshine anymore," I cautioned him.
"I don't think so, Sunshine," he repeated, pressing my buttons intentionally.
"You can think whatever it is that you want. But stop calling me that. I won't answer to it. If what you are here for is the debt then I will see to it. My brother and I will work non-stop until it is cleared. The bar remains with us and that is final. Now you can leave," I stated, closing the discussion.
"Not so fast Sunshine," he said and my veins popped in irritation.
"What else do you need?" I gritted between my teeth, trying not to explode more than I already was.
"You seem very unease, is there something bothering you about my presence?" he asked carefully. I jolt in fear praying that he did not notice my cover.
"There is nothing," I answered. He takes my reply and turns to leave when toddling steps rushes into the kitchen bumping into Mario's tall figure.
"Mommy." my breath ceased when I heard my daughter's voice.
