Episode 3: Thoughts of the impending horror

315 Words
Ronny When Ronny bumped into Ricky, he had been lost in thought. His parents had been pressuring him about marriage, reminding him that he’d be turning 21 in three months. His mother was particularly worried, frantically searching for the girl who was supposedly destined to save him from a sickness he didn’t even believe in. I’m healthy as hell, he thought. Why would I need to marry some stupid girl I don’t even know and commit to her when I can sleep with whoever I want? He scoffed at the thought. In a month, he was expected to attend yet another ceremony to determine if a girl from his kingdom matched the prophecy. This had been going on for as long as he could remember, and he was sick of it. His best friend Khalil—whom Ronny liked to call “Lil” because of his baby face—was, as usual, chattering beside him. “Ronny? Bro, I’ve been calling your name for a while now. What’s up, man?” “Remember I told you about my mom’s obsession with getting me married to some random girl to prevent me from getting sick?” “Yeah, I remember,” Khalil said. “Well, I’m supposed to attend another one of those ridiculous ceremonies in a month.” “You know,” Khalil said, shaking his head, “even after being your friend for three years, I still can’t get used to the fact that you’re not human but You’re a freaking demon, man.” Ronny smirked. “That’s just your reminder not to mess with me.” “What the hell, bro? You wouldn’t do anything to me. I think of you as my personal bodyguard!” Khalil shot back, laughing. The two friends entered their classroom, their laughter echoing down the hallway, and got ready to start their lessons for the day.
