Chapter 11

Rayna POV

Jacob comes out showered, looking fresh. “Hey sweetie, you still want company to the doctor today?”

“Do you mind? I’m nervous about the physical exams. This is the first time anyone has touched me like that since ….”

Jacob comes up and hugs be. “I’ve got you girlie. I got Lydia set up and told her I’m going with you. She understood.”

“I feel ridiculous. It’s a doctor. I know it’s different from what Ryan did. I understand the difference. But having someone touch me so….intimately scares me.” I tell him hanging my head. He comes over to hug me.

“You could always tell them you’re a virgin And I guarantee your new roommates will cancel the exam.” He says with a smug look.

I groan “Not this again. They are my new bosses-“

“Oh,kinky”

“My bosses and this is a job. I don’t want people thinking I sleep around to get ahead. It’s not gonna happen. I say sadly

“Hmmm, maybe so asparagus with my steak” Jacob comments

“Jacob, this is an important step in my career. I cant be impulsive. If I offend this man, I’m ruined.”

He grabs my face. “Look at me, hear what I’m telling you. I listened to you talk about this man.. two men, all night, I’ve never seen that look in you eyes. Even talking about food you don’t have that particular light. It was new and I’m excited for you to experience everything this man can offer you. I’ve known you for 5 years and you’ve never been attracted to anyone. Lu said you’ve always been focused on your goal. That’s great but f*****g live, Rayna. Enjoy your life. Don’t worry too much on it. See what happens. I’m certain I’m right and this is a position to get you close to him so he can f**k you senseless. If he instigates anything tell him your career can’t be affected by anything that happens between her two of you then lay back and enjoy yourself. You don’t have to start anything. Hell you can go find Mr dreamy if you want. Just don’t run because you’re scared. Now we have an appointment to get to and std test for your chef position.”

I nod and roll my eyes at him, feeling better “let’s do this.” We head to his ‘38 Rolls Royce Wraith and we head to the address sent to me by Ryker.

I try to keep my nerves down and start talking to Jacob about a new recipe idea I had. I tell him about all the seasonings I’ll use the thickness of the sauce ask his opinion on steak or chicken. He says steak and I rattle off ideas on how to make it work. When I’m trying not to spin off the handle or have a panic attack, menu planning keeps me focused. Before I know it we’re pulling into the dr office and he’s opening my door with a smile. He helps me out of the car and I look at the building dreading going in. Jacob nudged my arm and nodded towards the building. “Let’s go” he wraps me in his arms and leads me to the building dreading. “You got this. I’m right here with you.”

I nod and we head in. The door opens and I’m beyond shocked Mr -f*****g-dreamy is in the waiting room. I freeze as our eyes meet. He looks at Jacob’s arm on my shoulder and doesn’t look happy. Subconsciously I step away from Jacob wanting to pease this stranger for some reason. It works, his eyes meet mine again. I feel my body heat up and my n*****s tighten. God he’s sexier than I remember.

“Hello again gorgeous.” He says with a heart stopping grin.

I’m stunned “Mr dreamy” I don’t realize I spoke out loud till I hear Jacob try not to laugh and fail miserably. I cover my face with my hands “oh my god” I mumble.

Laughing at my embarrassment Jacob reached out. “Jacob Stone . I’m Rayna’s best friend”

Mr dreamy shook his hand “Alistair Sanders, although I think I like Mr dreamy better” he says looking at me intensely.

“ damn I think I just got pregnant “ Jacob jokes and I feel my face and chest heat up immediately

“Jacob, shut up.” I am so embarrassed.

Mr dre- Alistair looks amused but takes pity on me. “So what brings you in today?” He asks with a mischievous smirk I don’t understand.

“ I’m starting a new job and need a complete check up before starting.”

“That’s a coincidence. I’m here for a check up as well. He tells me with a smile. Before i can reply the nurse comes out

“Ms Larsen?” She calls me.

Jacob adopts his serious demeanor and looks at me “do you want me to wait or come with you?” I take a deep breath and look at him and Alistair.

“Im good.” I say with a slight tremble in my voice.

“I can stay with you.”

I give him a soft smile. “I’m good” I got the feeling Alistair wouldn’t be happy if Jacob came with me. I’m confused about why I’m concerned about that but I am.

The nurse walks me back into an exam room. as we get through the first part I relax She tells me the doctor will be in for the physical part.This part terrifies me.I take a deep breath. I can do this, I tell myself over and over like a mantra.

The doctor walks in the room and smiles at me. “ hello Ms Larsen,I’m dr Laurent. I’ll be doing your exams. I’m just going to check your breast for any lumps and we will do a Pap smear and I’ll get a swab for some of the std tests while I’m down there. You seem stressed. These are two very simple quick procedures. We will be less than 5 minutes for both. Can you do that for me Ms Larsen?”

“Y-y-yes.” I studder out as I lay in the chair.

I feel the dread take over my body. Tears fill my eyes.

“Ms Larsen ?” I open my eyes to look at her “breathe” she kindly tells me . It I’ll be done fast. We will start with the breast exam. I nod and squeeze my eyes shut. I feel a tear slip from my eyes. “Ms Larsen? Rayna. look at me please.” I see so much understanding in her eyes “Have you been assaulted?” I look away. “Was there penetration?” I shook my head no. I take a few deep breath and look at her.

I looked at her helplessly and tell her “it’s been 5 years. I don’t know why I’m still so affected.. My ex tried to r**e me after i found him in my bed with my sister.” I tell her tears falling freely now. Jacob saved me.” I tell her with a small smile.

She wiped my tears “ tell me about Jacob? I’m just going to see if there are any lumps on your breast.”

I breathe in “ he’s one of my best friends. He’s helped me heal and teaches me self defense. He’s a jujitsu instructor.”

“Thats great you have such an amazing friend you can trust. I’m done with the breast exam now she says as she covers me back up. This part will be harder for you I will be as quick and gentle as possible but you will feel some mild discomfort. I’m going to prop your legs up. Ok?” I nod. Once I’m in position she says “ why don’t you tell me more about Jacob?He sounds great.”

“He is. When I’m in town I have my own room at his p-pla-place.” I feel her start touching me in my most intimate spot. I start trembling with terror. “Go on” she says. I feel her spread me and a sob leaves my lips. “ h-he buys me h-hot chocolate b-bo-body wash” i tell her between sobs. “ L-lidy-a is his-s g-girlfriend. She’s s-so sw-sweet too.”

“Rayna I’m have to insert this in you, grab check for any abnormalities and grab two swabs and we’re done. Take a breath for me. You’re doing great. Tell me more about this hot chocolate body wash. It sounds dreamy.” She inserts the metal clamp and I flinch away full on sobbing now.

“H-e w-won’t te-ll me where he g-gets it. Jacob is c-c-convinced R-Ryker and Mr. D-dreamy out there w-want t-to w-w-wash me in it t-their selves. I think h-he’s cr-crazy. I’m too d-damaged. “ I feel the cold metal leaves my body and she gently pushes my legs together, helps me sit up and calm down.

She tells me I did great and to get dressed. I’m dressed, crouched on the floor naming off herbs when I feel a hand on my shoulder. I fall over with a scream and sob. I see the doctor try to get my attention. I try to focus on her words trying to soothe me. Suddenly I hear a commotion outside and scramble to the corner and I hear Jacob screaming for me. “J-Jacob” I stutter out. In here I heard Laurent holler. Jacob burst through the door in a panic looking around. I notice Alistair right behind him . I flinched as they both rushed towards me. Jacob noticed and stopped holding Alistair back as well.

“Rayna, honey, look at me, focus on me. He’s not here. Everyone in this room will keep you safe. Breathe, my love, breathe. Your safe. I’ve got you.” Somehow I ended up in his lap with him rubbing my back and rocking me. “So that recipe you’re gonna make me. What seasoning are you gonna use?”

I start talking about the recipe, And I calm down. “Thank you”

I looked up and meet Alistair’s gaze. “What happened? Are you alright now?” He asked.

I look away ashamed of myself for panicking like that. “ God I’m so pathetic.” I mumble to myself.

“No. Don’t do that.” He gently grabs my chin and forces me to look at him as he crouched beside Jacob and I. “Don’t do that. You are not pathetic. Not even a little. I know a panic attack when I see one. What I want to know right now is what caused it and if you’re alright now?” He’s so gentle it takes my breath away.

I find myself wanting to answer him, wanting to trust him. I feel Jacob watching cautiously for any reaction from me. Before I can even consider what to say I’m telling Alistair the truth. “I didn’t like being touched like that. It brought memories back. I’ll be fine I just need a session.” I look at Jacob.

“I’ll have you so exhausted you won’t be able to think. Im proud of you, kitten.“ he tells me with a grin. Then he picks me up and m starts to cary me out.

As we leave I look at Alistair. He had a complicated expression on his face as he watched us “Thank you” I whispered to him.
