What a woman. My Beautiful mate.
Since Valkyrie is a human, she doesn't feel the mate bond like he does. He didn't sense it at first, just a pull towards her. But, the second his hand met hers at the ball it ignited.
She's his second chance mate.
He can tell she wants nothing to do with him, but he will do his best to spend more time with her and get to know her. As much as he wanted her, needed her, he would not force her. He wasn't like that. He may come across as a ruthless warrior alpha to his and neighbouring packs, but he craves the love and attention only his mate could give.
She was a fighter and a very skilled one at that from what he'd heard. The feared Assassin of the Night. Damon laughed to himself shaking his head, his floppy black hair following the movement. He had attention from women, all the time actually. They were just wanting the title of Luna. They knew he'd lost his mate to a rogue war in the past and was desperate to be the one to fill her place. No one could replace her, but maybe Valkyrie could.
She'd never succumb to mere house wife Luna duties, he could sense as much. He'd never expect her to either, once a fighter, always a fighter. As terrifying as that thought was. He couldn't lose her, not another mate.
Strolling through the pack house, he'd had word off his loyal beta and best friend Chris that the and quote, "pain in the arse is on her way to the pack house with enough fire in her eyes to make even dragon shifters jealous". He'd down right laughed out loud at that. My feisty mate.
Making his way to the entrance from the staircase in the hopes of meeting her, he didn't need her arrival to be announced. She barged her way through the front doors making poor innocent pack members scuttle out the way in horror, looks of disgust and fear in their eyes.
He could only stare at her, stopped half way down the spiral staircase, with adoration in his eyes.
"You do know how to make an entrance. How can I help you, Valkyrie?" he purred, slowly walking down the stairs towards her, stood stock still in the middle of the grand entrance hall, Chris stood in the doorway inspecting the hinges.
"Alpha Damon. I apologise for that, though I think you need heavier doors"She replied, grimacing slightly.
"That's noted, I will request heavier doors. Should you feel the need to burst through them again"
Without replying, he watched as she looked him up and down, probably noting the lack of weapons he carries. He doesn't need them. He took the time to look at her too. Gods. She's something else. He made the good effort to not mention her casual attire of jeans and a vest after getting a mindlink from Chris warning me ahead, apparently she 'bit his head off'. Her tattoo curving down her arm onto her hand, the scars he could see littering her. Just like me then.
Suddenly she cleared her throat and put one hand on her hip, popping it out with added effect. "I came to use the gym, wherever that is, but I have lost my need to break something. Thanks to the doors, I suppose"
Interesting. So angry. "Will you walk with me? I need to head into the village"
"No thanks" She replied, almost too quickly. Ouch.
"Would you prefer to be stalked by Beta Chris?" With that, Chris shot me a glared look. Smirking, I looked back at Valkyrie who had this adorable thinking face on. She was considering it, I could tell.
"If it means getting rid of that brute, then yes". Shoving her thump over her shoulder towards Chris.
"Great. Let's go." Looking through the windows, I could see it was raining again. It rains a lot in the spring, near tropical. I love it.
After walking around 5 minutes in the glorious warm rain, her top was see through. Completely see through! Was that a chest wrap she wore? Did she not wear bras?! Keeping up easily with her long strides by the side of her, he kept peeking over. He noticed Warriors and unmated males who hurried past bowing slightly to him checked her out, some with slightly disappointed looks. Damon let out a low growl which had them looking away quickly and hurrying their steps.
"If you don't stop staring at my chest, I will cut your eyes out" She said all too calmly.
Chuckling, he said nothing and kept looking again. Had anyone else threatened him that way, he'd have sent them straight to the dungeons, but she was different.
"You seem in a particularly sour mood Valkyrie, is there anything I can do to help with that?" He purred at her suggestively, although it was not all acting. His eyes look sideways to her with just enough lust for her to get the point
"I'm sorry" She sighed. Well that was unexpected. "I just don't like not having anything to do. It's not in my nature to sit around and wait for meetings". From the expression that flashed on her face, she was telling the truth.
"I am sorry, if I could rearrange it for you to be more accommodating, I would. But as I am not officially the Alpha yet, I don't have a say in it". He replied chuckling.
Arriving into the village, it was fairly quiet. Probably from the rain, not a lot of people like to stroll in the rain as he did. Speeding abit ahead of her, he made his way to a small café at the edge of the village, it was his favourite for cakes and coffee. Noticing she was following, he opened the door and allowed her entry first.
"Good morning Alpha, what can i..." The waiter stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Valkyrie. She was stood in the entrance, wiping her boots on the door mat. "Yes Karl actually. 2 blankets to start with. We will sit at the back table. Thankyou". It annoyed him, seeing Karl glare at her as if she wasn't welcome. Saying that, she was armed to the teeth and a translucent top. Still, he knew how to control his temper. Alpha training had taught him that, at least.
Ignoring the fact that Karl hadn't moved yet he began to move forward when Valkyrie prowled past, swaying her hips and saying in a sickly sweet voice as she passed Karl, "Thankyou. A big slice of chocolate cake for me" and continued on eventually standing by the chair at the back of the café.
Chuckling, Damon followed. 2 blankets were quickly brought over by a waitress, Mandy I think she was called. Older woman and she was sweet as a grandparent.
Valkyrie wrapped the large blanket around herself, making sure to sit on the blanket rather than directly onto the seat. Doing the same, he sat down opposite her.
Mandy came back over and asked for our orders. I noticed she'd already written BIG SLICE OF CHOCOLATE CAKE on the notepad. My mate ordered a 'normal coffee', which I translated to Mandy as, 'flat white' and I ordered a black coffee and slice of lemon sponge.
In no time, the cakes and drinks were set in front of us. Jesus. That was a big slice of cake.
"So Valkyrie, tell me something about yourself".
