CHAPTER EIGHT : TELL ME KEVIN

953 Words
DEREK POV I TOOK another sip of my beer and looked up to the rack of drinks in front me. The bartender was gone somewhere at the corner of the bar, leaving me alone attending to myself. 'What a f**k up life!' I thought to myself. The moment I step my foot on this land, I really hope that I can get back what I left before. I can mend everything that I had broken and made up with all I have now. But instead, I got some cold shoulders and a dreadful statement of I don’t know anything. What the f*****g anything that I don’t know?! I took another sip of my beer when I saw a man approaching me. "Tell me." I said. The man stopped before me and took a sit. My eyes still focused on nothing up front. A bartender came back as soon as the man took the sit and left almost immediately. "Tell me, Kevin." "Tell me something I don’t know." I continued asking. Yes, the man was Kevin Jordan, Nick's cousin, and my company official lawyer. He was currently managing my company legal paperwork and official things. "I am helpless, Kev." I said one last time before I held my head down onto the bar's counter top. I felt his hand on my back for a moment before he sipped his drinks and stared up front, blankly. I looked at him from the corner of my eyes and sighed. His face holds no emotion, a complete blank. I trust him, and he seems to be hiding something from me. "I don’t know." he said. I continued staring him. “I have done my job for the last year you asked me to." he continued. "f**k, Kev!" "It is your problem, man." he managed to calm his voice and appeared blank again in front of me. The calmness I felt slowly eating me inside. I felt anger rising within me, very slowly. "My problem?" I stood up abruptly. "Then tell me, what. Is. It." I said choking his shirt's collar. He finally looked me in the eyes, his hand grabbing mine trying to release himself. "You want her, then manage your own mess." he replied, releasing himself from me and walked away. Leaving me behind with a big question mark on my head. I looked at his silhouette slipped out of the bar and sighed. Suddenly I felt my shoulders getting heavy and my head hurt, so much. "f**k!" I yelled, kicking down the stool in front of me. I drove off from the bar to exactly nowhere. My hand gripped tightly on the steering wheel while my eyes focused on nothing at the dark road. I took a peek to the dashboard clock to see that it was way past midnight. Upon entering a corner, I stopped my car a few blocks away from her house. Stephanie house. I knew her house by the address Kevin gave to me earlier this week. And yes. Kevin had done so much for me for the past year. Ever since I knew that I can choose my own branch after I managed to prove to my father and closed a billion dollar deals, I pointed Kevin to be my personal assistant. Of course, unofficially on certain things. He just helped me with the company things from settling a new building for my brand new branch, legal paperwork, and some personal things, such as, Stephanie. He acted like a brother I never have since I lost all my connection when my parents eventually dragged me out of country right after my graduation. I was forced to leave behind all the good memories that I actually managed to create just before I left. My girlfriend. The one I fell for from the moment she step her foot in the school ground that year. I looked up again at the house and released a heavy sigh. There was almost no light downstairs except for the kitchen. I looked up and saw a room was still bright which showing that the owner was still does not sleep while the other rooms were all dark. "Stephanie. I came back for you." I whispered before I drove off again back to my house. * "This morning you have a meeting with Sir Lucas Edward, the local engineer at St Davis Hotel, at 11." I heard her recites my schedule for today in front of me. I looked up and stared at her beautiful face. Her long beautiful blonde hair that she had tied up into high ponytail. Her white diamond earrings, her cream color bell sleeves blouse, and a dark blue pencil skirt that wrapped perfectly around her beautiful waist. Her white diamond earrings, her cream color bell sleeves blouse, and a dark blue pencil skirt that wrapped perfectly around her beautiful waist I looked down for a moment when her eyes finally fell on me after reciting those schedules. "I will remind you again from time to time, sir." she said while closing her journal and step back towards the door. "Steph," I called. She stopped immediately, her back still facing me. "Can we just talk?" I continued. Silence. "What talk are you talking about?" she replied after a moment. Her voice sounds shaking. I stood up and walked slowly to her when she refused to turn around. I hold her shaking shoulder and turned her around myself. To my surprise, her eyes were glistening a pool of tears that only waited to burst out anytime soon onto her smooth cheeks. I hold her face, smiling softly and looked deep into her eyes. "I missed you,"
