Chapter One
Ashley is a little girl. She lives with her grandma to take care of her. Ashley is only five years old. She goes to school and comes back to her grandmas. Ashley's grandma tried to help her do school work, but her grandma could not figure it out. Ashley had to figure it out on her own. Ashley's mom hardly came around. She was being her wild self with the guys. Ashley was a straight A student till she moved back home with her mom and her new boyfriend. They never saw eye to eye. Ashley got beat on every night. Ashley tried to tell her mom about her boyfriend beating on her, but the mom did not care to much. Ashley could not wait for the weekends for she could go to her grandma's house to see how she was doing. Ashley always packs her bag on Thursday nights for it will be ready to go to grandma's house. Ashley's mom would wonder why she always left on the weekends. Ashley was never home when school was out. She was always busy with friends and school work. Ashley's mom worked all the time. Her mom really did not have the time to know what was wrong with Ashley. Ashley really did not hang out with any boys. Her school work was more important than a boy's. But Ashley was smart, just being who she was. She knew her mom loved her but did not like how she got treated by her or her boyfriend. After some time, Ashley was in fifth grade and got called to the school office because her grandma was in the hospital. She went to all her classes to get homework for a week for she could stay with her grandma. Ashley could talk to her grandma about anything, and she would have the right words to say. Ashley's grandma got out a few days later and Ashley stayed with her and did school work. There were days she was doing great, but other days was bad. Ashley had to cook on bad days just to make sure her grandma ate. Then Ashley's grandma was doing a lot better, so Ashley's mom came and picked her up for Ashley could go back to school. Ashley got asked by her best friend where she was at. Ashley told her that her grandma was not doing well, so I was staying with her. The week later was summer break. My mom and grandma made plans to take a trip to Oklahoma for a family gathering in June. The night before our trip, Ashley's mom and her go pick Ashley's grandma up and go back to Ashley's mom's place. Ashley shared her bed with her grandma, and they all woke up early to hit the road.
