I’ve done walks of shame before, but they’ve got nothing on this. I’m a drenched, muddy runaway who just caused an uproar in the palace courtyard and let a prisoner free. I can’t exactly march right back in there, can I? But now I have magic on my side. Unless it was a fluke. I look down at my hands once more, looking for some sort of sign, some evidence that I didn’t just imagine the whole event. Here’s the thing about being a woman in my world; unless I have evidence, unless a man sees what I can do, nobody will believe a word I say. I’m nothing but a brainless, untrustworthy hussy to them. Even if I were a more chaste young lady, they still probably wouldn’t listen.  So my only choice is to muster what’s left of my strength and try to scale that tower wall… without being seen.  I’
