Chapter Seven

A few hours later, I can finally say that I suck at painting. Peter's laughter echoes inside the room while I glare at the canvas in front of me. Professor Wendell already looked at my hardwork and let me just say that he's speechless. I'm that good. Percy and his friends also tried to take a look but I cover it with myself. Hopefully, they didn't see anything but with the look that Zack has given me shows that I failed to do so. Onyx on the other hand didn't even paint anything. He just sat there and glare at the four men who ignored him. "What is that, Hals? Sticks with buns? Atleast you got their eye colors right." Peter teased, nudging my shoulders. Easy for him to say. His art is spot on while mine can be spat at. "Onyx did worst though. His art is literally invisible." He mutters, helping me with my things. Glancing towards Onyx's side which is now empty. I continue to pout on our way to the cafeteria while Peter tries to lift up my mood. As we approach the cafeteria, a very frantic Trevor rushes towards us. He stops right in front of me hands on his knees, trying to catch his breath. "Who are you running from?" Letting out puffs of breath, he puts both hands on his hips. "Onyx. God! Give me a minute. I ran from the other building for christ sake. I'm not built for this kind of stuff." "You're training to become a fighter, right?" Peter asks, raising his brows. "That requires running for miles and not get tired easily." "What's wrong?" I ask, ready to run and smack to s**t out of the Prince. "Is he hurt?" Peter puts his hand on his chest. "Aww." "Come with me." We followed him towards the school's garden where we find Onyx's friends trying to stop him from destroying a poor tree. All of the flowers, bushes are destroyed. "Bro, you-you need to stop. It's not worth it." His blond friend who I remember is Dexter tries to grab his arm but fails when Onyx pushes him towards Melissa who shriek in surprise. "Why are you being like this? She doesn't even deserve you." That statement made Onyx stop his rampage and turn his attention to Melanie. "I uh." "What did you say?" He yells, making his friends flinch. "Who deserves to be with me then? You?" Melanie took a step back but Onyx didn't stop from stepping forward. "You don't give a s**t about me. You don't even know me. All you care about is my title and the stupid crown that I wear." Trevor grabs my hand and tugs it softly. "Go." "You know the difference between Halsey and you? She doesn't care if I'm the Prince. She's not afraid to put me in my place if needed. She...she's the only one I'll ever l..fuck!" Making myself known, I slowly walk towards Onyx. His back turned but his friends noticed me first and all of them nod in acknowledge. I stood between Melanie and him. I grab his face with both hands and he immediately calms down. "That's enough. Okay? Come on, lunch is waiting and I'm hungry. Oh! And I'll show you my painting." He smiles a little. "It's just stick figures with buns in the middle, Hals." I remove my hands but he grabs it and put it back on his face. "Pablo Picasso would be so proud." I pat his cheek and turn towards a crying Melanie who is now being consoled by her friends. "Go. I'll handle this." Once they left, I smack Onyx on his arm. "You destroyed the garden! What if the Queen finds out.. oh s**t! You know how much she loves plants." Rubbing his arm, Onyx looks around and his face turns pale. "Shit." "What even made you do this? You were fine earlier until we met.." My eyes widen and I point an accusing finger towards him. "Are you.." "I am not jealous." He yells, running away and bumping into Trevor and Peter who are giving each other knowing glances. I run after him not worrying about the stares and audiences we're receiving. "Run faster, Trevor! Why are you so slow!" Peter yells not far behind me. "I'm a human but I run faster than you." "Onyx, you better stop running. I'm not a painter and definitely not a runner. Slow down, you turd!" I yell, dropping my bag to gain more momentum but immediately regretted it when I heard someone crash. "God damn it, Hals!" Peter screams in agony. "I'm sorry!" I managed to reach Onyx before he enters the cafeteria and smack him in the head. The sound resonates through out the entire hall and everyone's head turns towards us. "What was that for?" I huff. "When I say stop running. That literally means stop running." Following close behind are Trevor and Peter. Trevor hands me my bag and drags Peter away from us. Onyx holds my hand and tugs me towards the counter. He didn't even let go of my hand and continues on putting a lot of food on both our trays. Someone among the staffs even volunteered to carry my tray so that I don't pull away from Onyx. Peter is the first one to make eye contact and his eyes went straight to our interlock hands. I can feel Onyx squeeze it a little, a smile forming on his face. Well atleast he's in a good mood now. My cheeks suddenly feels hot with all the stares were receiving when Onyx tries to feed me with his burger. Our friends watch in amusement as I try to avoid Onyx's eyes before taking a huge bite off of his burger. "Good girl." Peter chokes on his drink. Trevor's sandwich fell on the floor. Erica almost dropped her phone. The cafeteria became eerily quiet. "Did I just said that out loud?" Onyx whispers, eyes wide in shock. Can this day gets any worse? I sure hope not. "Yes. Yes, you did."
